I've been eating here for about ten years now and it's probably my favourite all you can eat sushi restaurant. It isn't necessarily the best sushi, but it's reasonably priced so It think it offers the best value. The takeout is also very fairly priced with a 10% cash discount. For sushi we always order the BC Roll and it's probably my favourite here. It's got salmon, avocado, cucumber, and just a hint of green onion. Other places offer a salmon avocado roll but once you see how much better it is with a bit of crunch from the cucumber you'll never be able to go back. They also have an amazing salmon skin roll that we always order and I've never had one like it anywhere else. For appetizers and entrees we typically get multiple orders of Grilled Fresh Squid and Salmon Belly during AYCE so we can enjoy lots of delicious seafood dishes that are normally expensive to have. Their chicken dishes can be hit or miss, recently we got Chicken & Broccoli and the meat had a really gross texture so I don't think we'd get it again. The beef is a bit more reliable, so I'd still probably order the Beef Skewers or Beef & Broccoli. The service here is decent but some of the staff can be a little rude. The biggest issue is always when we try to order dessert. At Tokushima we can order 10 ice cream scoops and get them all in separate bowls so we can eat as we please. Here, when we try to order ice cream the waitress makes us say which go in each bowl so they only bring one bowl per person. It might sound small, but it's pretty annoying because part of the fun of AYCE is ordering a bunch of stuff and then people gradually eat it. read more

I really went to Rainbow sushi because i called to confirm they have grilled squid, they did but it came out cold. The squid was not the only one that came out cold also the other food enoki beef, the shrimp skewers, the chicken fried rice... the only dish that came out hot was the hot and sour soup. Super disappointed with this place. The sushi looks decent enough, but when it comes to fish and rice ratio that is where it lacks. Rolls are small, just like the AYCE size. Would be ok for AYCE, but when ordering per roll, a rip off. Sushi rice was kind of mushy. Spicy Salmon was not spicy at all. Their oishi roll was $8.95, but it did not taste "special" at all. Lack luster and not impressed. Yam and avocado roll was decent. Would have probably been bad if it didn't have the house sauce. Spicy crab roll I would have expected it to be Spicy mayo and crab mixed together and then rolled, but it was plain crab with Spicy mayo on top. Disappointing and expensive meal. My hubby and I hit up Rainbow Sushi for a date night and liked it well enough to go back again. Not a waste of a babysitter! I'm not a big fan of sushi but usually order the cooked options off the AYCE menu, and liked them all well enough. My husband was happy with the sushi; not too much rice, and they didn't cheap out on the fish or use mock crab meat like some other places. Just tried Rainbow Sushi. Ordered some Chinese, Thai and of course sushi. The Chinese and Thai were slightly better than average while the sushi was fantastic. The quality of the food is very good and the quantity of food you get is impressive. Free delivery on orders over $20. Customer service very good. Overall I would say Rainbow is a good option if you want a mix of Asian cuisine. If you're just interested in Chinese or Thai, there are better places. My complaint is over the online delivery yesterday it does ask you what you would be paying by . I placed cash and 60.00 I would be giving on an order that was 42.32. So on this note I would expect the driver ( who looked like he would be related to the owners ) have exact change well he did not . He gave me back 13.50 the amount should of been 17.68 . He shrugged his shoulders and gave me the change . At least I would expect you to say sorry I am short changed not give me it and hope I am an idiot and cant calculate . that is my beef .Its called "Honesty" I mean I give tips ..I first want it to be my choice to give a tip ... The food is just amazing. Their hot and sour soup with chicken is to die for. Literally the best. Ive ordered from many places but this restaurant is the best. Compared to other places, I didn't find the sushi here to be anything special. Just average. The rice in the sushi here was a little too overcooked for my tastes, which made it a little mushy, but it was decent. However, the interior is really cute and looks like an authentic Japanese restaurant! You can even eat at the bar table right in front of the sushi chefs which I thought was pretty cool. Around $22 for AYCE on a Friday night, which is an OK price, but I feel like there are other places with tastier sushi for similar prices. The waitress forgot some of the things we marked down on the buffet sheet, so we had to order it in the next round, but for some reason, this happens at almost every AYCE restaurant I've been to, lol... Overall, I've tasted better sushi at other restaurants, but if you want to enjoy a meal in a authentic-looking Japanese restaurant, I would say here is the place for you. read more

Good sushi. A variety of food which is always good. We went there for an all you can eat sushi Friday night. Waitress kept forgetting items we chose and bringing us another sheet. We reminded her that there are still items we are waiting for. Nothing special here but the food was good. The meat dishes weren't very good as the chicken was plain, no flavour and simple. The curry and vegetable dishes had a lot of onions in it. The maki sushi was tasty and the raw crab was good too. Rainbow rolls and avocado and crab rolls were good. Most of the sushi items were good. However, dessert was coated with tons of flour. Puff balls were good! The sushi here is amazing. Best sushi in Durham. I especially like the BBQ eel rolls. The restaurant also looks nice and professional. But the best part of the restaurant is the fact that the food arrives so quickly. They're like lightning fast. Every time I've gone, they always only take a few minutes with the food. Also, you must try the avocado salad! Idk what sauce(s) they use in it but it is the most delicious avocado salad I've ever had. It's amazing, unlike any other. The food is delicious and satisfying. Only good thing about this place is low price. If you are low budget and want to eat sushi it's place for you. Otherwise you will have horrible rice that is under cooked and super stale raw fish. The rolls have way too much rice on them. read more

Love the food and the ambiance. Little bit of a communication issue with the lovely waitresses, but some sign language helped get us the drinks we wanted (soda water). If you like quiet with your dinner this may not be the place for you. The three times we have visited, there has been considerable noise from a number of children (assume they belong to those working at the premises) making the usual boisterous childrens' noise, although they were confined to the rear seating area. Had the dynamite rolls (shrimp tempera), and they were pretty good. $6.95 a roll. Definitely very fresh, the rolls almost unravelled as you were eating them, but all in all, a solid place. If I could give no stars I would. I used to go there all the time but the most recent time I did I ended up having an allergic reaction and everyone who worked there denied that I was having one and wouldn't help me. I of course told them ahead of time about my allergy, they remembered and got my food (they've always been very accommodating with me) I ate my greed salad and my throat started to swell up. It got to the point where I was having a hard time to breath and I asked them if they could take me to the hospital (at the time I wasn't angry at them about the food, shit happens, I take that risk when I go out to eat) but they said I wasn't having an allergic reaction even though I was wheezing and jabbing myself in the leg with an Epi Pen. Eventually the dishwasher offered to take me to the hospital which was very nice of him. I went and luckily it wasn't that bad of a reaction. But still, if someone is having a hard time breathing, stabbing themselves with an Epi Pen and is asking "please take me to the hospital or call an ambulance, I'm not angry at you and I'm not going to sue I just don't want to die" don't sit there and say "oh you're not having one" and deny them until one of your employs takes them. read more

I have been a loyal customer here for about 3 years and have never faced any problems. Even with the mediocre food they served, I would continue to come back because I enjoyed how quiet the restaurant is. Even when friends highly recommended the other ayce sushi down the street, I still continued to return. The last few visits however, haven't been pleasant at all. One particular server was very rude and didnt hide her bad attitude at all. I brought my family there hoping to enjoy lunch one day and everyone was unimpressed with that same server. She's not shy of slamming plates and dishes infront of your face and she makes it seem like you're a nuisance to her. The atmosphere is very nice, the staff is very nice, the quality of the food falls short. We had the chow mien and it looked/tasted like it was out of a noodle packet. There was barely anyone in the restaurant because it was during the lunch hour, which is fine, but it wasn't fine that we sat waiting for our next dish for well over 20 minutes. When I finally asked about it, they didn't even realize I had ordered it. They went and got it for us, but we were still left waiting another 20 minutes for our next dish, so we decided to cut our losses and cancelled the rest of the food we ordered, paid and left. Tried Rainbow Sushi finally. It's tucked away in a plaza and you barely notice it but it was a nice hidden surprise. The restaurant is small but nicely decorated and clean. The staff speak English well compared to some other sushi places we have gone where they don't speak at all. The menu is a decent size, offering lots of variety. There are many other dishes besides sushi. The food is fresh and presented well. It is delivered in a timely manner but sometimes not in the order you would expect. We had to ask our waitress once for an item that never arrived. It was a small oversight and was corrected immediately. Prices are fair. There is a separate menu with higher prices if you want shasimi. We opted to not go for that so it was approx. 16$ per adult. They do have a kids prow and a few offers on the menu such as fries and chicken nuggets that would appeal to the smaller kids. Overall we enjoyed our visit here. We left satisfied and full.
