After receiving three estimates we decided to hire Komori because their approach was professional and they gave us a fair price for a large job. I was also told that the HEPA equipment they used to capture dust when grinding the cement exceeded other companies and would leave very little dust in the air. This turned out to be very true and saved me a lot of time not having to clean surrounding windows, screens, furniture, etc. Komori's crew prepped our floor, repaired all the cracks and holes, then proceeded to apply numerous layers of primer, grout and sealer coats, grinding and cleaning after each coat. Their crew was very easy to work with, always smiling and always willing to accommodate our requests. They were meticulous in their attention to every detail during the many steps involved. This is not something easily found in today's economy where many contractors cut corners and complete their work as quickly as possible to make the most profit. Eric, you were great! Koa, Jeff and Kase thank you so much for all your hard work. We are very happy with our new, beautiful lanai and it will be enjoyed for years to come. Special thanks to Jason and Julia Komori for running a company that has very high standards and believes in quality!

The owners, Jason and Julia, came out and met with met to give me a quote. They got back to me a lot more quickly than some of the others, and it was a remarkably good price. I had quite a few quotes than theirs was about half the average of the rest -- $5K for the exterior of a 4BR house. I felt I couldn't go wrong at that price, even if the quality wasn't quite up to par, so I went with them. And what guarantee did I have that the higher priced guys would be better? Komori was as highly recommended as any of them. Their crew came out within a couple weeks and worked quickly. It was a large crew, with different people coming by to do different things. They didn't do as much scraping as I would have expected, but they did wash and pretreat everything. The finished product looked great, except for one spot. It was a cinder block wall portion of the car port that was flaking pretty bad before it was painted and wasn't scraped down. I called them and their son came out within a day and went over the whole area again. These guys were a pleasure to work with and delivered a remarkable product for the money. No complaints. Highly recommended.

Could not tell me he declined to take my job? Was hoping at least to get a recommendation on who could help me. My handyman was surprised as well. Left stuck. Agree with the previous person, very unprofessional and I am sure he does excellent work. Just say no next time if you don't want the job instead of leaving me hanging My family is in construction and we will not be recommending him to other clients. They don't work that way. Their price was very competitive with the other bids, and Henry, the estimator, impressed me with his knowledge and willingness to do repairs prior to painting. He continued to manage the job and truly went out of his way to satisfy my requests, even having special moldings made to match the existing ones in my older home! Gavin headed the paint crew. He was in my house every day for 6 days until the job was done. He was amazing! I cannot say enough about Gavin as a person, and his workmanship. He was professional, easy to talk to, kept me up to date, answered questions as they arose, and did a truly excellent job painting. He did everything as he would want it done himself. He told me that, and then he showed me by doing such careful and exacting work! Mike and Blaze assisted Gavin and proved themselves helpful and skilled as well! Pristine kept their word and came back after the job was done to touch up after the flooring people. Sorry this is such a long review, but I can't say enough about Pristine, especially Henry, Ryan and Gavin!

In answer to that nothing did, we are very satisfied with the job Emerald Painting (EP) performed for us. Finding a painting company you can trust and feel confident the end product will be as good as you hope can be difficult. Our initial contact with EP was through Jonathan where he explained the process, answered all our questions, and then developed a quote. I was very comfortable with him and once we decided to go with EP, over a couple other companies, his responsiveness was outstanding. Once the painting started their focus on quality workmanship was excellent. We had a crew of basically 4 man (Guy, LJohn, Neal, & Derrick). I won't discuss their specific roles but each was professional, dedicated, and friendly. Over the three weeks it took (preparation & painting) it was easy to see their skills and desire to deliver a quality end result. As with any business nothing of quality is done without a topnotch office manager and Ellen is just that, in her own way she made our job happen. If you're looking to get your home painted I can confidently recommend Emerald Painting - Hawaii. Our job was exterior but I'm sure they're just as skilled and focused on the interior of a home as well. Thank You!

Excellent, excellent results! Working with Jon & Lupe was a breeze. Jon setup all of the…read morescheduling based on our availability & accessibility to the apartment. There were a few hurdles, but he worked out all of the kinks & came up with a time that was agreeable for all. Lupe did all of the actual repair & he did a wonderful job. Our problem stemmed from a toilet flooding in the apartment above our unit. Fortunately we were home at the time of the accident so we were able to use buckets to catch all of the water that dripped through the ceiling, medicine cabinet & exhaust fan. Due to insurance delays resulting from the owner of the apartment causing the damage, it literally took two months to finally get approval for testing, mitigation & repair work. Luckily we didn't encounter any mold issues but the ceiling above the shower stall had been so badly damaged that we had to have that replaced. The company that provided the mitigation services completed that aspect of the cleanup & was to also perform the repair but abandoned us after they had removed part of the ceiling, leaving a gaping hole. They ghosted us after I questioned why we paid for work that was never performed during the mitigation. After several attempts at contacting this company, we decided to find another company to complete the ceiling repair. A friend suggested we call Oahu Ace Handyman Services since they had used the outfit & was happy about the results. Their advertising indicated drywall work so we decided to give them a call. From the moment we contacted Jon, he was very responsive & professional. Since his company has started to build an excellent reputation locally, they've gotten very busy, so it took a few days to have Lupe come in, assess the situation & provide an estimate. We felt that their estimate was competitive and in our case, even better than the estimate provided by the mitigation company. Once we committed, it was really impressive how updates and information were routinely provided by either text or email. We've worked with other local companies that would schedule work with us but never hear from them until we initiated a followup call or email to confirm the appointment. On the days of the scheduled appointments, we would even receive texts informing us that Lupe was en route and the possible time of arrival. He was always punctual. Lupe's drywall work was superb! We couldn't even tell the transition. Both the texture and paint matched perfectly. He was so pleasant to work with as he has a bubbly personality. He was informative, friendly, accommodating & had a good sense of humor. He worked fast, efficiently and cleaned up after himself each day. He setup barriers to minimize the dust generated from settling onto our furniture and laid down thick brown paper along the path he walked to protect our new LVF. After the work was completed he vacuumed all the floors affected and thoroughly inspected the area to ensure that there was no paint splatter or inadvertent residual "mud". The actual work was completed in less than the time of the initial quote, so the labor portion of the bill was adjusted and reduced as such. How's that for honesty? On top of that, Oahu Ace Handyman is licensed and bonded so they stand behind their work. Highly, highly recommended! Jon, Lupe...you da best! Mahalo Jon & Lupe!

Nice folks, but not exactly a user friendly fix-it model. I called for an estimate, was told to…read moresend pics, which I did. was given an estimate that sounded high. Was then told I could get one of their crew out to take a look, but it would cost $99 plus tax. which would be applied to the final bill if I got the work done. I thought it might be a good idea, but then they came back with the exact same, very high, estimate. I had some of the same work done a while back and the handy man did each segment in about 20 minutes; but Ace was saying it would take an hour for the same thing (each segment). I'm not sure the estimator was really confident in the time it would take him. Nice fellow though. And, I'm not sure that they are allowed to 'think outside the box' when presented with something unusual. In this case it was sealing some open areas around the trim on the house. It needs a little filler, like a wood slat and some sika (or other outdoor caulk) and, as I said, that same work was done on other trim areas in about 10 to 15 min each piece of trim area. So I did not hire Ace, and I had to eat the estimate charge. I'd say, they likely can do a standard kind of job with square footage or straightforward and 'by the book' kinds of installs/fixes, but I'd not call them back for anything that isn't standard. I'm not calling them back for anything at this point. There was another element to the estimate that I got fixed by another handyman today, that took approx. 20 min and I did not need new parts for. So -- though some folks seem to like Ace, I'd not recommend them for anything that requires adaptability or creative thinking. They may be limited by their partner (Ace Hardware), since it's a franchise, but I could not see paying their price of $150/hour (plus tax and materials) for 7 or 8 hours for a job that would take about 2 or 3 hours tops (if that).

On the last day it was incredibly windy / gusty, but they managed to finish the project even though much of it was from scaffolding and on the windy side of the house.
