I have been patronizing this Ace for 9 years I prefer to buy everything local. I purchased a beautiful assembled Weber grill. I used it 1 time. It was faulty and I brought it back for a new one. The manager said it was heavily used and Weber would NOT warranty it. I had it less than a week! If I had purchased this from a Lowes or Home Depot I would have been refunded or had it replaced. I went in to buy a Sthil multi attachment unit with a weed eat er and a hedge trimmer. The two young boys helped me and showed me they had everything in stock. When I asked for a total price they just gave me a rough estimate that was $200 off. I figured it was a high price anyways so I asked them to put it aside for me and I will be back. I called to make sure it was aside like I asked and they said yes come down. So I got there and nothing was saved aside for me. I knew exactly what I wanted and asked them to pull it off the shelves for me please. They started to then got called off of helping me because the manager Lia/Lea/Lie told them to not sell me what I needed. It's too much paper work and they close in half hour. Come back Monday. ‍ I was willing to pay the outrageous prices today. don't worry I won't come back ever. I feel bad for the helpful staff that tried to get me what I needed and out asap. the manager told them not to sell me $600 worth of tools. So I left empty handed. Not very friendly or helpful and a little racist or something. I walked in durring a beatiful day for me and everyone outside to pick up an order for a cuztomer thinking of course i could get help they told me to ask the cashiers last time even and the cashier saw me coming and curved me and tried justifying it with other employees and the other guy i asked for help couldnt help me find the item cuz he was so disrracted by being defensive about her. Online store is not accurate . I checked everywhere looking to purchase this specific lawn chair and this was the only store on Island that claim to have in store .i live in town mind you . For such a big item as a lawn chair, how do you claim to have 4 in stock and then because I live so far from this store , I drive out towards the store and not even recieve one text or call letting me know they just checked and there's nothing in stock so they cancelled the order . Oh , but they sent an email ... first of all , to claim that you have FOUR in stock online to actually have nothing at all is a huge inventory discrepancy . So disorganized . And a huge waste of my time. Will never shop here again. read more

I don't understand why if I bring in a empty van of paint purchased from your store would be re-made in a different brand of paint? You could of warned me so I could make my oWn decision to drive to Haleiwa to get the correct paint. Now I'm having to squaRe off walls instead of touching up. In response to Steve C. - I love Ace in Laie I will definitely stand bye them. They are like family (friends/community), it's sad that you as as an ex employee had to stoop so low to bring race into the equation. When in fact not 1 of them are just Hawaiian. I see all ethnic background s there. Majority of the employees I see are male, with about 5 females. I have no idea what females you are referring to but I hate when ignorant people bring race and sexism into matter s that have nothing to do with what they are truly up set about! You're up set you got let go??? Move on and learn from it. I go to Ace all the time and yes they are not accurate in saying hello but the service is there. As a resident of Laie when we need something, it's kinda frustrating to have to go ALL the way to town. This ACE is awesome. My hubby seems to always get what he needs at reasonable price, of course walmart is cheaper, but the gas price to drive down to walmart and the time just isn't worth it. The people are always very helpful and nice. And sorry, not open on Sundays, and yes we mormons do own everything so it won't be open on Sundays, don't hate. read more

I've grown up w/this place. When I don't want to drive to town and need random things around the house fixed up this is my go to place. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Service was awesome! I am not one to frequent hardware stores but I do know good customer service and this place has it. Each and every staff member was attentive. They all greeted me and asked if I needed assistance. The woman that actually ended up helping me really knew her stuff. I had a basic plumbing problem and she offered me a number of viable solutions. The cashier was friendly and engaging. I felt like these people were my family. Awesome place!!! read more

This place is the only game in town. In fact it's the only hardware store for miles so unless you plan to drive to Kaneohe of town (Honolulu) you're stuck. If you call to ask if something is in stock the answer is always "yes"! But the truth is maybe yes maybe no. I can't count how many times I have called and been told to come down they have whatever item. Yes, the people are nice but they never seem to get anything 100% right the first time. I ordered some screens for my house and had to pay up front and was told to come in at the end of the week to get them. Went back a week later and the job was only half done. Had to wait until Monday to get the rest of the order. Another time I went over to have some keys made. I had to go back three times because the keys they made did not work. When you ask what the problem is the answer is usually that the one person on staff who knows how to do whatever it is you need is not there. :-/ What can you do? they're the only choice you have in the area. It would be great if another hardware supply would open in the area so they'ed have to compete. If just need to pick up a little something to do a small job this place is OK. But Ace Pioneer Hardware in Laie is inconsistent and not very reliable. read more
