The rainbow is a place that is small but very welcoming with a true "local" community feel. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. They offer specials as well as breakfast throughout the day. There is seating at both the counter or tables and you can choose where you want to sit. There was one waitress working and she did not stop moving. She also did not miss a beat. No one had to remind her to fill drinks, clear their place when finished, bring them the check etc. I mean she was definitely on top of things. The food was served in generous portions, and made to order. It was cooked well and served hot. The drink selection is Pepsi products with a variety of soft drinks, coffee, water, milk, juice, milkshakes, and a variety of beers. The diner feeling is ever present and this restaurant offers a relaxing experience. The food is good, the price is fair, the service is top notch. If you're looking for a good place to eat that's not out of the way chosen the Rainbow. It is what George Webb used to be, but so much better. read more

Tried their sloppy joe sandwich today. It was excellent! Probably the best sloppy joe i have ever had. It came with a choice of chips or fries. Nice soft hamburger bun with plenty of meat inside. Everything is homemade at Rainbow. Place is very small inside has counter service and tables. They have homemade bakery items like cherry turnovers, cinnamon rolls, strawberry pie with real whipped cream. I would highly recommend this place. Opens early for breakfast. read more

Average food, nice small town charm. The place was packed, and depending upon your covid sensitivities you may want to go to another place. only about 1/2 the staff was wearing a masks. It did seem like they were cleaning the place up after each customer fairly well though. A little colder greeting that I have seem at some places. Maybe it was my cubs jacket. Omelet was large and fresh made. Only American cheese which is sad for Wisconsin for God sake. It was ok overall but nothing special. This place was book marked for breakfast for a while now and I finally stopped by. This place is off the beaten path and tucked away in an out in the country setting. This place was full of locals who knew each other by name and I was definitely the out sider and got some looks. Lonnie was my server and did a great job at working the room and taking care of me, after I introduced my self and she called me by name through out my breakfast just like she did with everyone else. I was offered the morning paper if I wanted to read it which I thought was cool. The place is nothing fancy and very dated with wall paper and lots of wood. The tables and chairs are the cheap cafeteria kind. The place is small with an old school lunch counter and it was fairly packed with people arriving and leaving. The breakfast menu is one page only and not like the Greek places with overwhelming choices. I would have the simple meat and eggs plate with toast and hash browns. My ham was a little disappointing because it was a thicker version of commercial deli sandwich ham slice from a store deli, it's a good thing I also got a side of sausage links. This was really the thinnest ham piece I have ever had in a breakfast dish. The sausage links had a nice casing and were very juicy with a good breakfast flavor. The hash browns we were plentiful with a nice balance of crispy vs soft potato texture. The eggs were perfect sunny side up with that nice runny yoke. The toast was the generic wheat and nothing special. Over all this is a solid breakfast place, just don't get the ham if you are looking for a thicker juicy slice. Lonnie is fantastic at making non regulars who wander in feel like you have been coming in for years. Two thumbs up. read more

Old school diner and fast friendly service. We went here after not receiving any service at Outside Inn. I wanted to come here because my dad and I used to come here all the time. They have plenty of regulars and I asked for ham without in my omelet and they quickly fixed it even though I offered to pick out. My husband had the Reuben which he had no complaints (very unusual). The food is straightforward - there are no fancy brunch concoctions but you will get very well done eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, etc. They also have daily specials which are a bit more adventurous but still within the realm of standard breakfast food. Rainbow always reminds me of the early days of dating my husband. We would go there for breakfast on the weekends because we would always get a tasty, affordable meal, and my husband could smoke cigarettes and chat it up with the locals. Almost 20 years later, we can afford to pay more for breakfast but why bother when Rainbow is still awesome and hasn't changed a bit. Of course, my husband couldn't smoke at Rainbow now even if he still smoked, but we can still get really good food at rock bottom prices without any fuss (and still chat up the locals). And now we are the locals! My husband typically orders breakfast food. I don't even bother to look at the menu because Rainbow has the best patty melt ever. Wisconsin down home breakfast at its best. Quaint place advertising their 40th anniversary which definitely indicates they are doing it right. Specials on the the board for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Tough decision for me as I check for something different to eat. Do I take strawberry crepes or pumpkin pancakes? I chose pumpkin pancakes which were two large plate size fluffy perfectly cooked topped with pecans morsels of deliciousness. My dining companion had a huge omelet that covered half the plate accompanied by home fries with sauteed onions he requested and thickly sliced rye bread with caraway seeds. He was impressed and commented on the homemade features of his order. I noted they had stuffed pepper soup, one of my favorites and pot roast on the specials board. This place is so cute! It's very close to my house and I've been going here since my childhood! They have good breakfast, lunch, and dinner! It's a tiny little diner, with a counter that seats about 8, and a handful of tables. The prices are great and the food is good too. Get a malt or a milkshake - they serve it in an old school glass and bring you the extra (who doesn't want extra?!)! The only downside is that since it IS so small, sometimes you just can't get a place to sit and parking can be difficult - but it's worth your time to check it out! read more

My brother, up from Georgia, I, from Seattle, and my mom who lives locally, were looking for a good Friday Night Fish Fry. WOW, did we find one. Sitting in the parking lot at the NB library using Google and SIRI we decided to take a chance on this place we never heard of before: Rainbow Restaurant. Soooo glad we did. It's a throw back to when I was growing up, and we'd stop in these little family restaurants around the lakes up north. Cozy, home-style atmosphere; you almost feel like you're sitting at someone's kitchen table. The only thing better than the food was the service, and we all agreed that the food was totally AWESOME. We were treated like family. My elderly mom felt so comfortable and cared for. Mom and my brother had the beer batter cod ($9.95), I had the Lake Perch ($12.95) with potato pancakes. The perch was unbelievably good, as were the pancakes. My brother wolfed down his Cod, and mom ate what she could, but we all agreed it was the best we've had in a long, long time. Oh, and special kudos to the rye bread. Might have been a touch better warmed, but wow, what a great flavor! By contrast, we had a family dinner at a name brand (starts with L) steakhouse at Southridge the next day, and it was the complete opposite of this experience. Keep it up, Rainbow.
