I called and went in. First he only wanted cash but when I called they told me I could pay debit or cash. The young lady told me her manager told her I wanted swedish. I told him 4 xs deep. She told me you making me work. Weird statement. Then I gave her a tip and she was positional because I gave her a $14 tip. I love deep tissue massages, and the lady (owner) surprised me by how strong she was and how aware she was of my tight muscles that needed extra attention. My wife also spoke highly of her massage where she also likes a somewhat deep massage but not to the point that I like it. We both give this place 5 plus stars! Worst massage experience in a long time. The lady answered 5 phone calls during my massage and I realized she left her iphone in my massage bed when I rolled over and felt it on my back! Then she blamed me and said it was MY phone until I gave it back to her and she realized it wasn't. Super unprofessional and uncomfortable. She kept leaving the room multiple times to set up other massage rooms for the five customers who called during my massage. I left feeling the opposite of relaxed. I really wanted to like this place, I was hopeful due to the positive reviews but was sadly disappointed and frustrated. I was up sold to a "pain relief " massage, it was pain inducing. And not the "good pain" you'd want. The lady handling the phones was my masseuse, she kept leaving my session to answer phones . She stuck her elbow onto my spine bones several times causing me to bruise. It was the most uncomfortable I've ever been laying on a massage table, it gave me terrible anxiety. I had to stop her during the massage to have her switch to Swedish and shorten my session to 30 min from 60. I left feeling like absolute crap and in a really bad mood..all of which I had to pay money for. I love going to Sophia. This is one of the few spots in this area of town that offers a wide variety of different massages. I like getting the lymphatic massage from Sophia, but it can be painful! This is my absolute favorite new place to get a massage in Pasadena. I've gone 4 times in the past year and I've never had a mediocre massage. Every single masseuse I've had has been excellent: strong, with a good sense for how much pressure to use and where, kind, considerate, and skilled. They listen when you need more or less pressure, and they always focus on the spots you ask them to. They always use hot stones, unscented massage oil, and lots of towels and clean sheets to ensure you are at the right temperature and that the oil is wiped off. I always walk out feeling healed. I had tightness in my neck, upper back and calves walking in -- felt relaxed and experiencing less tension in those areas walking out. I went with a friend and she felt very uncomfortable, we had to end our session early. We even thought of just leaving within the five minutes we were there. This place does not have qualified massage services. As is common for a lot of these so-called massage parlors, this is a Business of convenience. The masseuses are older people who do not really know what they are doing. They rub their fingers and elbows but have no method. This was my second time. The first time I ordered a Thai massage. It was literally someone grandmother who was walking on my feet. I was surprised the woman could even get up onto the table. She was totally ineffective. Finally, they charge to use a card a service fee. Then they tell you what to tip. The day I went their card machine conveniently was not working. I had to Zelle them the money. The business owner literally asked me to walk over to the bank to withdraw money because her machine and Internet was not working. Totally unprofessional! You are a business... Act like it! I called to let her know I might be 5 minutes late to my appointment, but when I got there they were shocked I arrived. They said they didn't have space for me and I stood there awkwardly because they had no idea what to do. What a surprise gem! My usual go-to foot massage place suddenly and sadly closed last month and I'd had a rough week. Rainbow Spa is super close by, highly rated and had an immediate opening. It's a step above a foot massage spa with private rooms instead of one big area. Staff were exceptionally kind and friendly and the massage was a genuine surprise - I've never had all my favorite styles in a single massage session before! I'd asked for deep tissue/strong pressure and asked specifically to address some chronic shoulder pain/tension. My therapist used Thai style stretching and walking on my back (with my permission of course), hot stone, Swedish and accupressure techniques! All in 90 minutes for an extremely reasonable price. Afterwards, I had a pleasant chat with the owner who explained that they focus on healing, traditional Chinese modalities when a guest comes in pain. Overall, I was very pleased with the experience and walked out feeling a million times better than when I walked in. The spa is simple but very clean with welcoming touches throughout inside and I'm looking forward to coming back. read more

What a great Spa! I went with my fiancé and we took in a couples massage. I was greeted by the friendly staff that took extra care to make sure things were to our liking. I got the right amount of massage pressure and Peter (I think that was his name.) did an excellent job. I walked out feeling so relaxed and my neck and shoulders were a thousand times better. I had a stressful week and this was an excellent way to cap it off. My Fiancé also enjoyed the experience. She also had a lot of neck tension and stress relieved and was quite happy since we decided to go on a whim. Which led a great outcome! I was a regular customer at a chain of massage spas and one of the problems I had with the chain spas was the price/subscriptions. I have to say the price here was absolutely fantastic. With the service quality just as outstanding if not better by the options we received. We are definitely returning for another massage as soon as our schedules permit. Great job!
