I've been coming to Pasadena Relaxation Center once a month for a little over a year now. I've read the reviews, it's a hit or miss, depending who you get. I always request for May because she really does get the job done. On the other hand, the other lady is not good. She's nice but not professional enough to be performing a massage. To avoid the hit or miss factor, I suggest calling in advance and making the appointment with May. I believe she is the owner. Very kind, you can be open with her and tell her what you like and what you don't like. You can also ask her to put more focus in certain areas to get the most out of what you are coming in for. I give five stars because May has never disappointed me and she is so pleasant to have as my regular masseuse. read more

They try to talk you to getting their "special" which is a full body massage but I specifically asked for a foot massage and she ignored me and tried to charge me $40 for services I never even asked. read more

Again, I rate places for their value. And this place is only $40/hour so my bar is low and it still gets 2 stars. The Massage was so terrible that I thought about asking them to finish up and let me out many times before it was over. She used so much lotion that it felt gross. She used her elbows (not a problem in itself) so she couldn't regulate pressure and it hurt me on a number of occasions. When I would flinch (noticeably), she would laugh at me (please note: I usually like deep and hard massages). At the end of the Massage, I only wanted to tip 15% (since it was awful) and the woman informed me (only after it was over) that there was a minimum 25% tip. I told her the Massage was awful and I didn't want to pay that but it wasn't worth the couple extra dollars to explain it to her. First time here. Worst experience I've ever had. The lady kept yawning, and keep making some weird noises with her throat, I was so uncomfortable and didn't enjoy my food massage at all! Not only that, she shows no effort and was rushing into the massage. My boyfriend would've done a way better job. If you don't enjoy what you do, then don't do it. First off... let me just mention that May (who's the owner) is amazing. I've gone through about 7 different massage places in Pasadena and by far, she and the whole crew are THE BEST in town! For the price and service that they provide, you can't find any better place than this venue!! I go to this place at least twice a month and they have never let me down once! I referred a few friend and they loved it as well. I just referred my wife and she said that she feels like a whole new person. They're very attentive to what exactly you need work on. I've been trying out a few different massage places in Pasadena, but this was not relaxing for me. The room has a sheer curtain? I was thrown off by that. The massage itself was okay, but still, I've experienced better. Initially I wanted to use the $20 foot massage yelp check in special. But then the lady was telling me they don't do the entire body, and I should do the body massage. I was turned off by that. DON'T GO HERE!!! I just left this massage place and will NEVER return. I had a very long weekend and was looking for a nice and relaxing end to it, but as I laid on the massage table all I heard was the lady in the front speaking to somebody on speaker for about half an hour. The entire massage was done under a sheet with maybe five minutes of oil and hot stone on my back. What is that? Are you guys trying to conserve oil? Because I have never had a massage performed this way. The masseuse kept yawning as if she was being kept up. 2 minutes before my massage was over they randomly put on some relaxing music that was almost comedic because my massage was already over and I was the only one in there! I was uncomfortable for most of the time but completed the hour and I probably would have felt better just doing yoga at home instead of wasting my time in this unprofessional lousy shop. read more

Amazing!! I have been coming here for several years, especially during law school finals. I usually come in when I can not concentrate anymore because of the tension in my neck and back. Today was no different. I am studying for the bar and came in with unbelievable tension. Left feeling refreshed. I always get a hard pressure massage. No pain, no gain. Great legitimate place to get a massage in Pasadena. 60 minutes $50 and worth it. The massages here aren't Swedish but deep tissue where you get a lot of pressure by being stepped on, elbowed, kneed...but a massage buff like me can't have it any other way :-) From the outside it looks very plain but inside it's very clean and with comfy massage tables. There is usually two persons working here, and you can likely just walk-in but call just in case. And they take credit cards...which is nice. read more

DON"T EVEN BOTHER! My massage person answered the phone twice. She stepped outside to talk but might as well stayed 'cause it was loud and distracting and frustrating already. I had already paid for a deep tissue full body massage (they request the payment upfront) but had to ask her to please use at least a bit more pressure, not once, not twice, not three times. She laughed and said yes, yes, yes at all times. She rushed my back and before half an hour had passed she started working on my feet. I was totally confused and kept expecting her to move over which didn't happen so at some point after about 15 min, I had to ask if she was aware that I requested a deep tissue full body and not foot massage. She said "10 minutes back 10 minutes foot massage". Wtf? Never heard that one before. Plus it was not even 10 minutes. Let me repeat: 15 minutes of half assed foot caressing for a full hour body massage. I wanted to leave early, it was so horrible. She said she will give me 5 minutes more massage for free- while I already had more than 5 minutes left. Add her phone time to that as well. My friend left early too. He said, she used first zero pressure and stroked him over the blanket. When he asked if she was going to use oil, he said she was surprised. Then she leaned over him with all her body weight so hard that he had to stop her. She didn't use hands. I get it, giving a massage is not easy work. It is hard especially if you have been working all day. I totally appreciate my massage therapists' effort but this was completely different. They were so clueless. I could swear they had never massaged anyone in their lives. My cat is a much better massager. And yes, it is not the top dollar fancy spa but you get much much much better quality massages within and around Pasadena for the same price! Do not waste a single dollar and your precious time there. read more

This was our first time here. Both the hubby and I enjoyed our massages thoroughly. May and Nina did a fantastic job. I had May and I felt like she was very experienced. The place was very clean including the restroom. I like that they used a soft cloth with the massage instead of a rough towel like most places. The music was nice too. The hot stones were the highlight and came as a pleasant surprise. Pressure was just right. Not too strong but definitely not too light. They've only been open less than a year so I'm hoping they keep up the great service and momentum. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

May is AMAZING! I live in the Bay Area but got a massage from her last Nov and when I visited SoCal again just last week (1/26/17). I had so many kinks and a stiff right neck/shoulder for over a decade. After a 3 hour massage May got rid of the kinks and pain. I come in here almost weekly. May is amazing I get the $30 hour combo foot and body massage and she really knows what she's doing. She's also pretty funny. I always leave feeling way better than I arrived. It's also super clean and have heaters on the tables for when it's cold. For the money this is the best place I've been in the SGV. read more

This massage came after a terribly painful shiatsu massage in South Pasadena, so I was tremendously grateful to have a massage with just the right pressure and complimentary hot stones. Very good massage, nice staff, there is just one thing that bothered me and that's when the lady at the desk tells you they prefer cash and then try to add on a $2 charge for running credit. I gave a generous tip for the price so I would hope that they would be gracious towards either form of payment. Jannie was so good that I extended my 60 minute/$50 massage to a 90 minute/$80 massage after the first 60 minutes. Walking on my back, she was more talented with her toes and feet than the majority of massage therapists who have used their hands and arms to work on me. Having just gotten off a 14 hour flight from Australia, I really needed some deep tissue work and Jannie totally delivered. She mixed in some assisted stretching that maximized the effectiveness of the punching on my legs. As others have said, the place looks questionable from the outside but is lovely inside. They let me wait indoors after closing time for my ride to come pick me up, which was nice. read more

Best massage in Pasadena. My wife and I have been going for many years. All the masseuses are skillful (though I do have my favorites) and have no problems with anything from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. Many different styles and they are very kind people. I saw May the day after my upper back re-freaked out a few months after a car accident. My chiropractor said if I found a good Therpist a massage would help. I was a bit worried at first, sometimes affordable masseuses aren't the best, sometimes they are great, and as much as I'd love to go to Burke Williams, I can't afford it. May was great! I wish I had purchased 90 minutes. She was so thorough, she covered every inch of my back focusing on my neck and shoulders. She was firm but not painful. First off, let me say that I've gotten a lot of massages in my life so far. Good ones, not so good ones, massages on a beach, massages in a dark room full of other people on beds. I've learned that it doesn't matter where someone massages you, or how expensive the massage place is, what matters is the actual person massaging you. Their skill, their knowledge of the body, their use of different techniques, how well they listen to what you need, and their attentiveness are what matters most. May is just simply one of the best. You can tell she knows what she's doing, she doesn't give you a cookie-cutter massage, she listens to what you ask her to do/not do (although her English isn't great, you find a way to communicate!), and she seems like she truly cares about healing your body. I had a wonderful experience and left my massage honestly feeling totally transformed. That hasn't happened to me very often in past experiences! The place itself is nondescript. It's simple and clean and small, but you can tell that May takes pride in keeping it tidy and inviting. There's street parking around and free parking in the back. The energy in that place is great.
