This mom and pop donut shop is amazing! The donuts are so affordable from 1-3$ and the varieties are so cutely decorated! Most donut places in the bay are 3$ minimum for a fancy donut. The taro donut has a vibrant purple color and is softer more cake like than the normal donuts. Classic glaze and the old - fashioned are classic stand by. Apple fritter is large and great apple fresh flavor. The unicorn one is so cutely decorated. The customer service is also great! The woman at the counter always throws in a free donut with the bag that I buy! She's so friendly. read more

I've only tried two flavors of donuts from this shop but they sell unique and beautiful donuts at really reasonable prices! I got this rainbow donut for $1.50 and it was so pretty, the service was good and the interior of the shop was clean and cute. Must try!! read more

I've seen this place on Instagram, and stumbled upon it on accident on my walk today. We found it at ~5pm, so a lot of their popular specialty donuts were sold out already. Makes sense, they close at 6. I'm supposedly on a diet, so I restricted myself to one. I chose the Blueberry French cruller and my boyfriend got the Fruity Pebbles donut. And wowww I inhaled mine in a few seconds, please donut judge me. They're fluffy and airy, and not oily at all. I was eyeing their unicorn donuts but they had so many donuts that looked delicious. I'll definitely have to "walk" by here again. read more

We stopped in Berkeley on our way home from San Francisco to hit the original Peet's. We spotted this donut shop and it had good Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. This was just a happy accident where we were looking for something completely different, but ended up here! As many of you know, I'm kind of a doughnut whore, so this place was definitely in my wheelhouse! I was blown away by the sheer amount that was available left in the late afternoon! It took a while, but ended up settling with Ube, Red Velvet and a jelly filled. All were quite tasty! This is a must-visit place for me next time I'm in town! Love walking to this donut shop! I wish I could eat all the different variety of donuts they have but sadly, my body and metabolism wouldn't be able to handle it. I love getting the donut holes and buttermilk donuts, and they also have pretty unicorn donuts and fun flavors like blueberry and ube! They only allow a certain number of customers in the store and do a great job making you feel safe by cleaning the counters. Will definitely be coming back over and over again! read more

No place better to be my three hundred and ONE review! I walked in on a Wednesday morning thinking "donuts, donuts, donuts!" I walked in and the staff greeting me promptly. There was a couple people in line, but nothing a donut couldn't win me over for. For me: the Vegan Donuts- Yeah, not very sexy BUT as it turns out- they were! They were buttery and delicious, by far the best Vegan donuts I have had. For the Crew: Unicorn donuts, Bacon donuts and the amazing ube donuts. I first discovered Ube in Hawaii and I have been a LOVER of the UBE ever since. Everything was stunning and perfect- instagramable if you will. They were a hit. I'm not ashamed to admit I know a thing or two about donuts. And by "know a thing or two about" I mean "eat a lot of." The buttermilks at Rainbow are divine. So are the cake donuts. There are a million more options ranging from standard to a little bit wacky, but the flavors themselves are straightforward without too much grease or air factor. The ambience is quintessential San Pablo Ave (for better or worse) with decent street parking nearby. read more

Got a two piece fried chicken combo with biscuit, one side and a soda. Selected thigh & leg. A sign says they fry fresh, but I guess not to order as I saw my pieces being picked from under a heat-lamp which I didn't see when I first entered. I love this place because it is NOT bougie ("handmade with artisanal ingredients" for $6 a piece, you know what I'm talking about)- the donuts are very reasonably priced but still high quality and absolutely delicious. The selection is excellent including fun specialty designs and they even have vegan donuts (for my dairy allergic child) that you would never know are vegan. Staff are nice. Shop is cute, pleasant, and clean. The corner of University and San Pablo is decidedly not and we need to support our local anchor businesses so come get a cheap treat at Rainbow Donuts! read more

I love love love donuts ! And I Love Love Love this donut shop! There donuts are always fresh and taste it! Whatever dough or the way they fry them taste like no other. There donuts are not greasy and are fluffy when you bite into them. They have fancy s'mores and cereal donuts! They all look delicious that you will want them all. And it doesn't matter what time of day you go in there all still fresh! We went in around 3pm and there was a lot of people in there. I got my standard favorites, two glaze, a sugar and half a dozen donut holes! All simply delicious! And the service is good! They greet you and are friendly & helpful at the counter. I have been there more than nice and the employees have always been smiling and customer service oriented. My only wish is that they would open a store in Marin County somewhere. They would do well here since all the donut shops are not very good here. They told me they send there donuts to Mollie Stones Grocery Store in Greenbrae at the Bon Air Center. I have been there a couple times and the first time they were all sold out in the morning. And the other times I bought the donuts there were just ok. I think they taste better fresh from the actual store than the ones at Millie Stones But if your ever in Berkeley, definitely stop by this gem of a donut shop! You will not be disappointed! read more

Great donuts on a hectic street. I went here for my first time today after picking up some bread at Acme down the street. Going in the store reminded me of Voodoo Donuts in Portland, OR. I started off with a maple bacon donut and a blueberry fritter. The creativity of these flavors reminds me of Voodoo with all their creative flavors. Eating the blueberry fritter you definitely need a drink with it cause its a MASSIVE donut. Im looking forward to hear my friend's opinions on their own two donuts out of the box. Love this place. And I love how accommodating they are to make special orders for donuts/donut boxes. They invoice you online, pickup you order and boom, good go. This place has amazing donuts! I always try to get the original glazed cronut but most of the time they're out! I was lucky enough to get not only the original, but also the maple one! The texture is perfect; flaky and soft with a good amount of glaze! I've tried plenty of other donuts as well and none have disappointed. As usual, because I was outside with the dog and she was the one ordering, she kept it simple. "One of each please". That was one Apple Fritter, six Sour Dough Donuts, a "Slice of Summer" Focaccia, one hot and one iced latte, tip and tax. About $80! In general, what we got looked delicious, albeit a bit small in size. But they were large in flavor. You could definitely taste the sourdough flavor because it was not overwhelmed by the topping or filling. The dough was very springy. Unlike a regular donut that squishes down when you bite into and then stays somewhat flat, these donuts returned to their shape minus the bite. I enjoyed my Iced Latte although I'm guessing they only offer one size. I usually order the largest cup available. As I'm writing this, we've only tried the Apple Fritter and two other flavors so far. Below are some pictures of what we got. Although we were pretty full so we did not partake of any mochi donuts that evening, we opted to share an Ube Coconut Milk Smoothie w/ Boba. My wife, who usually does not drink much boba (hence the sharing of a cup) wound up really loving the drink, and actually drank about half of it herself.
