Country fried steak breakfast and crusted French toast.
    Jason C.

Seat yourself establishments and they are quick to the table once you pick your spot. Our server was very friendly. I had the country fried steak breakfast. They use real cube steak and hand bread it. Top notch! Biscuits are good, French toast is legit. All around great place. Best breakfast I've had in Lubbock. Not as flashy as some places meaning the menu is more basic than a lot of "brunch" type places but I'd eat here over them any day. I've hit many of the top yelp places in Lubbock and again this tops the chart imo.

Today the 806 Burger Tour had lunch at the Rain Cafe on 50th. We split their Green Chili Cheese Burger and Fries. Let me say right at the outset that the Waitress and staff were as good as we've had in the 18+ months we've been doing this! Friendly, polite and helpful. They actually cut the burger in two and served two plates with a generous portion of fries! The atmosphere was very welcoming as well. It almost smelled like rain in the dinning room! We will go back to enjoy other options on the menu as they serve breakfast all day and I love breakfast as much as I like a good Cheeseburger! The fries were really good. Crisp on the outside and hot and tasty on the inside. They had a unique seasoning on them that I really enjoyed. As I stated earlier, we shared the Green Chili Cheese Burger. This has pretty much become my go to burger and I blame one JT who 25 years ago preached the gospel of the New Mexico Green Chili! The burger was really good as well. The single patty was charred well and very juicy, the veggies were as fresh as can be. A generous portion of green chili added a blast of flavor. It came with Swiss Cheese which was a little different but proved to be a very pleasant addition . We got the single patty burger and it was more than enough for us to share for lunch. Heartier appetites may need to add an appetizer. All in all Rain Cafe proved to be a terrific choice. We give the burger .

food perfectly satisfied our brunch cravings! crusted French toast was very good, exactly what other reviews said to expect. all parts of our various meals were perfect and considering how busy it was we got our food really fast! our service was super sweet as well! loved the homemade/communal ambiance (:

*UPDATE: The manager gave me a full refund. Assured me that she was in the process of fixing the situation and making sure their food standards are top quality. My boyfriend and I ordered a few things. All of which were very disappointing. I ordered a Belgian waffle and got what looked like off brand frozen waffles. My bacon was so burned it hurt my teeth. My boyfriend's biscuits and gravy had no flavor. The hash browns were a bit raw and also had no flavor and the toast, well it was bread with the smallest amount of butter possible. This was my first tome ordering from here and it was truly disappointing.

Tortilla ripped all the way across right in the middle smh.

The service and wait wasn't terrible I ordered togo though. I've been a few times always get the chicken and waffles and love it, I've been seeing and thinking about the burrito so I finally got around to trying that I'm not sure if it's any good yet but the quality is just sad I've worked in a lot of different fast food and restaurants this is sad.

I've been coming to Rain Cafe for the last 6 years. I've tried almost everything on the menu. They keep the taste consistent and the service is A1+. I always wait for the same sweet server who knows my order by memory. It's clean and welcoming. I recommend trying the French Toast, you won't be disappointed!!

I've heard really good things about the brunch here and decided to try it for myself! I ordered biscuits and gravy with sausage and a breakfast burrito to go. Both were decent! Tasted comparable to a quick easy home cooked meal. It was pretty average tasted like store bought tortillas and a basic gravy mix. Not a bad place, but I'll probably eat at home next time!

I was back in Lubbock visiting my girlfriend after she had come to see me in Austin the last few times, and we were planning our weekend. I had previously taken her to The West Table to celebrate her graduation, and since we loved it, we knew we had to go back. Last time we went was an amazing experience. We had their arancini as our shared appetizer. She had their Roasted Beet Salad and the Grilled Rack of Lamb, while I had their Caesar and their Cast Iron Seared Duck Breast, which was amazing. We also enjoyed their specialty drinks. This time we arrived for our 7:00 reservation and were greeted and sat immediately. We both ordered a drink to start the night. I started with the Hibi-Jibi, a hibiscus and gin drink, while she had the Peach Ring Margarita. West Table is a farm-to-table scratch kitchen concept, so it's very important that you order all your food from appetizer to main course up front to give them time to craft it at the right pace. The West Table is at the floor level of the luxurious Pioneer Condos. It sits right across from their sister location, The Brewery LBK, and even serves their current brews on location. However, opting for their brews and not their cocktails is a mistake in my opinion because their specialty cocktails are truly one of a kind. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It feels like a ballroom and all the tables are well spaced out. In the back is the open kitchen where you can see all the chefs putting in hard work and mastering each meal. All around, there is great energy. We started with their Roasted Bone Marrow. I was worried about the idea of eating bone marrow since that was something I had never had before, but my girlfriend assured me it would be great. The bones were filled with an onion jam and lemon caper vinaigrette that were placed inside the bone. You could spread the jam and vinaigrette on their grilled bread, which was fantastic as well. It was purposely charred and really added to the jam's flavor profile. We then split their Caesar Salad, and it was a needed divider between our appetizer and entree. Their salad is a good portion for one person, and it was still satisfying being split for two. It was the perfect amount of salad. We got our next drinks ordered to go alongside our main entree. My girlfriend ordered their Fig Old Fashioned, while I got the "C" Monster, a celery-infused vodka drink with a name that sounds so stupid saying out loud that I almost changed my drink after saying it. Can I get the C Monster? WHAT A FOOL. The drink was really solid. The celery flavor was super noticeable, but in a good way. It balanced with the vodka quite nicely. For our main entrees, my girlfriend got their Salmon over Angel Hair pasta, and I got their Pork Chop over mashed potatoes and asparagus. The noodles with the salmon were strong with a very heavy Cajun kick, which complemented the crispy salmon piece, but my pork chop was the star of the show. They recommended it medium, so I got it medium, and it was delightful. Portions of the pork chop were nice and fatty, while others were lean and tender. I was a big fan of its flavor, and the sauce and mashed potatoes really added to it. Perfectly fluffy mashed potatoes. We closed the night with no dessert, but dessert drinks. My girlfriend got The Cold Fashioned (a mix between a smoked old fashioned and coffee liqueur), and I got the Buenas Noches, which mixes coffee liqueur, chocolate liqueur, and orange liqueur. Of all the "nice" restaurants in town, West Table stands alone. It has a price tag but still feels fair. Everything we had was top notch, and I still think they've made the best duck I've ever had. Their waitstaff is attentive and amazing and really sells the experience. At the end of the night, she was happy, I was happy, and West Table proved itself to be the LeBron of Lubbock restaurants. There were tons of young parents with their babies and toddlers in here at about 1 pm. There was a baby-changing station in the large stall of the women's restroom. Because I didn't know how long they would take getting our food out, I requested our drinks in to-go cups which seemed small. The strawberry lavender lemonade was not what I originally wanted, but it was okay ($6.50). My daughter's Strawberry Shortcake Dirty Soda ($3.95) was absolutely delicious. For food, oddly we both gravitated to the "Bennys: The Art of Hollandaise." While it wasn't the best hollandaise sauce I have ever tried, it was good on the "Smashed Avocado Benny" ($16.50). My daughter ate almost all of her "Bella Bella Benny" ($15.25) which came with prosciutto she loved. Both plates were served with house hash browns that were cooked just right and not too greasy. INDOOR/OUTDOOR DINING There was a dust storm rolling through town on February 17, 2026, so we dined inside, but there *is* an outdoor patio that looked fabulous. PITFALLS They were out of the "Rejuvenate" juice I wanted. The parking lot was packed. I had to park kind of near the smelly dumpster and an unsightly view of a trashy lake or pond. So when my daughters and I walked in, we were not greeted. We snaked around the long horizontal pole meant to form a line. The chick at the register did not to be in that position. She was not nice. Did not listen. Was not courteous. It took about 25 minutes for our food to be ready. Your receipt will show the same number that should pop up on the number readers either above the meal counter or in the dining room near a TV. Here's what we ordered: Green chile cheeseburger ($11.49) Cheeseburger mayo only ($10.99) Bacon cheeseburger with ketchup added ($12.99) Large fries ($4.99) Small fried jalapenos ($5.79) 2 regular fountain drinks (2 @ $2.89) The patties were fairly thick. My daughter received several pieces of bacon on her burger. She was happy about that. The green chile was definitely on the very mild side. I loved it, but the juices saturated my burger when I dumped the cup on there. Soggy burgers are not fun. My bad. I didn't count that against them. The fries were really good. The jalapenos had a kick! The Coca Cola was super flat. My daughter let me try it when I was shocked by her admission about it. Lol. The dining rooms can get a bit loud. I could not hear my kids half of the time. Felt like an old timer. But it could have been that we sat between the food counter where you pick up your food tray and the soda fountains. Congested! It was the only table available at the time! Still, the entire staff seemed a bit moody. I did not appreciate that. The restrooms were decently cleaned. Overall, though, I don't think I'll be back.

There being about 20-25 people there, how was our meal prepared with no culinary attention to detail? For example: my wife ordered the chicken fried steak, mash potatoes and salad. Her steak was so "bland and lukewarm" that it literally removed all sensitivity of taste from our tongues..., no seasoning or flavor whatsoever. On our drive home that's all me talked about. Mash potatoes were likewise "lukewarm and bland"..., then factor in the gravy..., exactly the same. Her plate obviously sat at the window too long or perhaps her food was simply "sitting there" waiting for us to order it. Her salad: there was nothing "green" about it, it was "all the white stalks" of the lettuce, literally 4 olives, a sprinkle of shredded cheese, 3 half slices of tomatoes with "gigantic croutons (that was interesting)". My "blackened chicken salad"..., salad was the same as my wife's; double-dang because I love salads and being type 2 diabetic and having high blood pressure this would have been the perfect meal for me. HOWEVER; the chicken was the worst ever because it was saltier-than-a-1820's-sailor..., horrible..., and drier than a camel's hump in the Sahari. I never knew that a chicken breast could be abused like that on purpose. So, how does such a nice looking place sell someone "absolutely ridiculously horrible food".
