We are staying at the Sheraton hotel. So had breakfast this morning at Rain. It is half buffet style and if not on buffet, you order. We ate the oatmeal from buffet, added almond milk for our vegan diet. That worked but the oatmeal was a bit clumpy. Then we ordered avocado toast without cheese. We finished our oatmeal and it still hadn't come out. There was literally no one else ordering in the restaurant. The server finally brought it out sheepishly with cheese and asked if it would be ok or do we want it remade. My husband asked for a new one which did come out faster thank goodness. But it makes you think it was never ordered at first until we asked about the delay. Not great service. I would only eat here if staying at hotel. My husband did report that the avocado toast tasted good. I was full from the oatmeal. read more

How does a bar run out of beer and vodka? We have been staying in the hotel for 3 nights with 2 more to go. The first night at the bar we were informed by the bartender that they ran out of vodka. I asked for a Carona and was told they only had 4 bottles left. No light beers at all. I feel bad for the employees working at the bar. Going over what they were out of every time a new customer came in. They still had no idea when a delivery would arrive. I don't understand how they operate a bar like this. You'd think the beverage mgr would send out for a few cases of beer and maybe a few bottles of vodka to hold them over till a delivery. We expressed our concerns to management at the desk and were told nothing they could do. We had a bunch of friends check in yesterday for the weekend. I told them what was going on with the shortages. They couldn't believe it. We all went to a bar across the street. read more

Driving through and trying to get home I booked at the Sheridan. Rain 903 was the restaurant in the hotel. I ordered the salmon and it was amazing, toppers with crab that was amazing. the staff at the restaurant were so inviting. The front desk was informative and do friendly. The food is actually between good and great. The service and ambience, however, is horrible. So bad that even though I fell in love with their crab soup, it would never be worth returning to get it because of the terrible service. We decided to eat here because after checking in on Yelp to the Sheraton (which the restaurant is located within), Yelp sent me a 25% off discount for the restaurant so I checked out the menu online and there were some tasty sounding dishes. After settling into our room we headed downstairs to check out Rain 903. Upon walking up there was literally no one in the restaurant and a couple of people in the bar so we thought, great, we'll have a quick meal because it's not busy. Boy were we wrong. It took a solid 10 minutes before our waiter asked for our order. He literally was just gone after seating us. There were two workers at the bar so he wasn't assisting there and the two workers at the bar were really just chit chatting the whole time anyway. When he finally came back to take our orders we realized what level of service we were in for. We ordered our starter and meals all at once. Crab stuff mushrooms for starters, kids burger meal for one kiddo, kids penne pasta for another kiddo, creamy crab soup for me, my oldest got the Philly cheesesteak and my husband got the cheeseburger. Most of the food was actually great. The crab stuffed mushrooms were flavorful and truly stuffed full of crab. My crab soup was also surprisingly filled with crab and tasted great. At $11, I was truly shocked at how much crab was in it. All the kids enjoyed their meals and my husband said his cheeseburger was decent. Since the service was now knowingly slow at this point, we put in our dessert order as soon as our dinner came out and asked that they be packaged to go. There's no way the waiter put the order in promptly because we were there another 30 minutes still waiting on the desserts. I could go into more detail about how truly slow, unfriendly and disappointing the service was but it would probably bore you just as much as I was bored sitting and waiting for our bill at the end of the night for so long. read more

Last night I had a yummy impossible burger and truffle fries, they came out room temperature, but I didn't mind that much. This morning I ordered avocado toast for breakfast and it was not even edible. It was regular wheat bread with a bare avocado on top cut in 4 pieces and sprinkled with sunflower seeds and red pepper flakes. The avocado was OLD and mushy and there was so much red pepper flakes that I couldn't eat it (and I like spicy food). For $15 I expected them to prepare something. Usually the avocado is mashed and the mash is seasoned. I feel like who ever made this has heard of avocado toast but has never eaten it before. It was terrible. I wouldn't eat here again. On a positive note, you can't mess up drinks, so this is a good place for a casual cocktail at the end of the day. read more

Maryland Cream of Crab Soup/Cream of Crab Soup - creamy soup with crab placed on top. Soup was hot, crab was cold. It was ok once I mixed and let it sit a bit. Maryland Shrimp Wrap- the spinach (?) Wrap itself was hard/tough to bite. The shrimp was rock cold. Recc to let it sit a bit before eating. Fries were crispy-crispy. Not my jam, I like semi-soft. Nothing to rav about. It's typical hotel food. I wouldn't dine here again if it weren't for traveling purposes. You get lucky when it's a nicer restaurant at hotels. read more

Came in today and ordered the chili. Thought it would be good with a side of rice so I asked if they could accommodate. Apparently a la cadre isn't an option which was fine however they came back and offered to sell me a side of rice for $6!! The chili I wanted was $8 so to have plain rice cost just about the same as the meal is outrageous. I could understand $3-4 bit come on. Rice is literally the cheapest thing you can buy. Decided to try because it's within walking distance to our home. Never seems busy from the outside, but they really were bustling inside! Excellent service although could seem slow if you are in a hurry. We sat near the window and watched the busy Towson scene. From start to finish, the food is really really good. Well prepared and presented. Loved the calamari appetizer and the cream of crab soup - thick and well spiced. Both the salad with grilled salmon and steak with mashed exceeded expectations. This review is only for the breakfast buffet and the breakfast menu. The buffet is quite limited. When we came here they had run out of food and were just replenishing the buffet. Unfortunately due to time constraints, we couldnt wait for the food to be replenished and were forced to eat the leftovers. It wasnt worth the $12.99 price tag but maybe if we had stayed longer it would have. OJ and coffee are included in the buffet price. The breakfast menu is a bit cheaper if you opt not to do the buffet. The choices were good but the menu isnt extensive. I had ordered the open face breakfast sandwich which included eggs, cheese, and sausage on a sandwich bun. It came with home fries and tasted pretty good. Service was also quick. read more

This is only for the service we received. It would have been nice if we didn't have to stand around and wait for about five minutes and have been greeted by a server. But we were'nt. The food was tasty. What wasn't on the menu was customer service. We went there today for breakfast, and my son is on a special diet. Meaning, he can't have any of the food on the menu. I brought some cold chicken I cooked, and some blueberries for him. As I have in tens of other restaurants, I explained that my son was on a special diet, and that he could not eat off the menu, but I was going to eat breakfast. I then asked if the server could take my son's chicken in the back and heat in the microwave. She said no, they aren't allowed to take any food in back to cook, and that I had a microwave in my room. I told her I did not have a microwave in my room, or I would have done that. Then I said fine, can I please just have a plate, and I'll cut it. Ten minutes later, the server gave us a plate. I also asked if she could please take the plastic container of blueberries I brought, and she said no, she could not bring any food in back to do anything. I understand food safety, but this is ridiculous. Washing blueberries? My son has to sit while I cut up cold chicken, and had no fruit with his breakfast. My son has multiple disabilities and we have never experienced this at all. read more

I asked for cucumber slices to watch my carb aspect. Crab cake was bland. Def needs old bay and parsley. served with an overly sweet altered version of tartar sauce- the "remoulade"-too much sweet relish. We really just wanted tartar sauce and was told that they do not make in house/ had available (uh okay, fancy restaurant). I got the pesto/sundried tomato chicken sandwich- and unfortunately, the menu online does not match what was given to us when we were seated for dinner so I cant remember the full name. It said something along the lines of "chicken with provolone and pesto and sun dried tomato" aspect. I remember thinking, WOW- thats gonna be really good. regardless of bun or no bun, I got a small pounded out chicken tenderloin with a melted slice of provolone.hilarious. the sundried tomato pesto was gross and missing depth. I ended up adding the remainder of my crab dip on top and was content with my "chicken chesapeake." Fries in general- were sort of worthless. I will say, things did come out hot. so that was appreciated and honestly holding it all together with the slow service, upcharges on everything (which were clearly made known, but like really?), and weird flavors. I was still hungry, I will say, probably my fault (portions are not huge but adequate so still saying I will put that on myself)- as again I didnt eat the bun- so I asked for a cheeseburger (no bun) with crispy onion straws as i saw a meaty one float across the room. I did not realize that it would be a pre packed/ frozen patty. 12$ for NOT a hand packed patty. Very mechanical/pressed texture and feel. Service is extremely slow, we were hoping our girl was having an off day, but honestly- not sure. She looked like she was hoping people would not show up (snow storm weather). I will say- we did see one other waitress that had smiles and pep in her step- and i think it was the manager was who came over to check on us too (so didnt want to disregard those ladies). all in all, I wished for better. Hotel restaurant that seemed disorganized. No one to great you or servers on hand. Only person was bartender who was friendly but handling both bar customers and food patrons. I've been to the Sheraton plenty of times for various meetings, but never have had a chance to eat at Rain 903. Today I needed to grab a quick bite before a meeting and decided to stop in. I ordered the sesame ginger wings, and though the sesame ginger sauce was pretty tasty, the actual wings were similar to that of something you'd find in any grocery store freezer. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed. On the flip side, the server was nice, so +1 star for that. I'll definitely NOT be coming back. read more

We went to the restaurant for dinner last night. The food was very good, but the service was spotty. The Waitress was very nice but there were only five people in the Restaurant including our party of two and the food took about half an hour to arrive. A little slow, but worth the wait. The real issues were with the parking. We were told by the manager in the restaurant that they validated parking at the front desk. The front desk told us that parking cost $5 with validation or $3 with the parking lot cashier without parking. Has anyone ever heard of validated parking costing more than un-validated parking??? It got worse once we got to our car. There were about 30 cars trying to get out of the lot and there were problems with the gates so it took us 30 minutes to get off the lot. We missed our movie due to the slow service in the kitchen and the parking lot from hell. read more

I was here for a meeting and they catered the lunch. The first day they had a chicken dish which was dry. They had a cake table where I got a slice of chocolate cake, but it wasn't worth the calories. The second day they had some wraps. I had one with tuna which wasn't bad. A group of friends and I came to Rain because we had a Restaurants.com gift certificate. We called ahead for a our 7pm Saturday dinner reservation but didn't need it because we were the only people there except for a few people at the bar. (by the time we left we were one of 3 tables). The young gentleman acting as host/waiter/server took us to a seat near the windows and got us our water, which took about 10 minutes. It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks from the bar, which was 1 beer and 1 glass of wine. This was when we ordered our meals. Two NY Strip steaks medium, and 2 Filet Mignon medium. The food took almost half an hour to come out and all the food was cooked medium well. We ate anyway because we were starving at this point. The seasoning on all the food was very well done, my only complaint with the food itself was the steak being overdone. Once we finished we sat and talked another 20-30 minutes before I got up and asked for the check. The only times we saw the waiter was when we were seated, our 2 times to bring our drinks and get our orders, and when he brought the food. Once I had the check, I went to pay immediately. Neither he, nor the person he got to assist who I assume was a manager, knew how to process the gift certificate. Once that got settled, I paid with my debit card. I had to actually ask if they wanted me to sign anything, because they just said "Ok you're done." Once they printed the receipt I signed, gave a cash tip, and left. Today, I checked my bank account, and they charged me twice, for two different amounts! It took 45 minutes on the phone with the accounting department to find out what was going on. The woman I spoke to had to dig through physical receipts to see what happened and was very patient, other than being frustrated at being sent back and forth before I talked to her it was nice to talk to someone willing to help. Overall the staff was very friendly. But there was no attention and the service was extremely slow. It it was busy I could understand a delay, but being the only people in the place when we first worked in, there should have been faster service and more attention. I don't know if our steaks were the server's fault or the kitchen's, but again with no one else in the place there should have been better attention to detail. Each dinner was $25/$30 per plate, and it's sad when I comment that I could have gotten the same level of care or service from a chain and spent half as much. Unless they make some changes, I'd say save your money, and go to the Towne Center across the street and eat there, or the Cheesecake Factory around the corner. read more

Totally unbelievable how I could walk up to the hostess and be ignored. Wasn't greeted or offered a seat. I cannot rate the food quality because I wasn't given a chance. I chose the Sheraton because I heard about the quality and good service. Unfortunately the room did not meet the quality standards that I have found at other Sheraton's. I will definitely seek other accommodations when in the Towson area. Instead just walk across the street to PF Changs, great food, quick service and you'll save a lot of money. read more

We were told at 11:30pm that there would be a breakfast buffet, but when we went to breakfast 9 hours later, there was no buffet, because the hotel was not at 30% capacity. Surely this is information they could have had the night before. There was a $3 charge for coffee that is served for free just outside the restaurant, so don't waste your money on that! We were fairly pleased with the menu options, but when I ordered the Maryland Benedict, I was informed that there were no English muffins, so I changed my order to biscuits and gravy. We then waited for over forty minutes as my pregnant partner got hungrier and crankier. Finally, my partner went up to pay, since we were running late and she hoped to speed things along. After she paid, the server somehow found out meals right away. Except my gravy was congealed and barely warm, and my partner's garden skillet had no vegetables at all, and instead had giant chunks of ham in it. Ham does not grow in the garden. The server said, "Yes that's the Denver skillet." which was NOT what she ordered, since she is both a vegetarian and a pork-eschewing Jew. So we waited for over 40 minutes, the food was served cold, and the order was wrong. The server had absolutely no ability to move quickly and did not try to rectify the situation. We asked for our money back and had to wait several more minutes for that to happen. This restaurant is too expensive and certainly not faster than going to a different breakfast restaurant! It was raining out and we didn't want to leave the hotel for dinner so went downstairs to the hotel restaurant. Choices varied, instead of having a dinner meal I had two appetizers for dinner. The Crab soup bread bowl was DELICIOUS but the shrimp cocktail had more sauce than shrimp so that was a little disappointing but still delicious! read more

Here for a workshop. Restaurant is poorly equipped to deal with large volumes of customers. Restaurant manager turned away guests who were in line stating that he could not guarantee service in our alotted 1 hour lunch break stating that all meals are "cooked to order". Once seated, it took at least 10 minutes to get our order taken. When placing orders, a member in our party was told that his burger would take 25-30 minutes to cook in order to be well done. Service was slow with only 8 tables occupied in groups of no more than 4. Luckily I am not a guest of the hotel...but sadly I would not book accommodations here based on the restaurant service only. read more

I was at the Sheraton for a conference with a co-worker, and we decided to eat lunch here due the convenience of eating in the hotel and conference center. We were seated right away, but then no one came around to get drinks or inform us that the lunch option was strictly buffet. maybr a placard or sign on the table would be helpful. We could see the buffet, but we were seated so far from it, we really weren't sure if it was a private party or what... we waited for 10 -15 minutes and decided we would just go up. When we returned to the table, our drink orders were finally taken. Everything on the buffet was fine. Nothing extraordinary but everything was good. Simple, but it would appeal to most, I believe. Just dined on the best crab cakes in the Baltimore area. And yes, I've had Phillip's, Timbuktu's and G & M's. Rain 903's crab cakes are the best. Not much, if any filler. They're topped with a spicy remoulade, so if you don't like spicy, ask for the sauce on the side. The crab cakes are served with real mashed potatoes and a veggie. Now, the veggies were the frozen variety and a disappointment alongside such wonderful crab cakes. But the 'delicious' chocolate cake more than made up for those frozen veggies. They also have a fabulous chicken pesto sandwich (lunch menu) that is layered with fresh asparagus, eggplant and cheese. So why they're serving a frozen veggie with those delicious crab cakes is a mystery. Anyway, kudos to the chef, Ahmed Saloni, the manager Claude Duvall and the server Pete Commander who exceeded my expectations at this restaurant. They are friendly, genuine and will ensure you have a great dining experience. read more

I haven't had a chance to eat here because I didn't want to pay for parking! I spent money on restaurant.com because they had a deal for this place but then when I went there they said I had to park in the garage that is for hotel guests. If I wanted to park there as a visitor they wanted me to pay. The restaurant doesn't even validate. I'm going to try and go back and park somewhere else and walk over but if it weren't the fact that I already got the gift card for there then I would write it off. They post the description of their restaurant on restaurant.com so I fell like they shoulder disclosed this - maybe that's partly my fault for not doing in researching but I didn't even know this was part the Sheraton Hotel before I drove there. I'll have to come back and add to my review after I actually try it but that sort of tainted my experience. read more

I have been here several times over the last few weeks. The menu is improving, and so is the staff! The friendliness and professionalism has improved. Reginald is a fantastic assest to the team! He is personable, professional and has lead the crew into this new mindset. The menu is slowly evolving, but it's getting there too. At least he listens when you talk with him. A hotel restaurant in a budget business-traveler's hotel needs two things, edible food and efficient service. Customers eat there because they don't have the time or energy to go someplace better. I ate at Rain three times while staying at the Sheraton. I was especially pressed for time the two times I went for breakfast. The buffet seemed like a good, quick choice. The food was fine, although the selection was quite limited for the price; only 3-4 hot items for about $13. The service however was awful. I had to work at flagging someone down to get my first cup of coffee by the end of my meal, and the waitstaff seemed to need a lesson on working the cash register. The third time I went, I paid at the counter, and the staff were literally using a paper coffee cup as their cash drawer. The cup was just stuffed with wadded bills and receipts! I was behind other customers and for each customer they had to pour the wads out of the cup and sort through them to make change. This in combination with only marginal ability to use the computer results in a very long wait to complete a series of very simple transactions. This may not sound so bad, but trust me it is more annoying when you are grumpy because you haven't been able to get enough coffee and you are rushing to sit through an all day boring meeting in a windowless conference room! read more

My experience dining at Rain 903 this past Sunday evening was a complete disappointment. I am not a finicky eater. And I am fairly easy to please and forgiving of understandable shortfalls in service and or quality. I have NEVER written a complaint about a restaurant dining experience I my life. But this I must inform you was a terrible meal experience. In years past, I have enjoyed holiday dining at the Sheraton in Towson. Never again. Though I had made a reservation a week ahead of time, no one was present at the reception area to greet us. I had to go searching for someone to even notice our presence. I should have known something was amiss when I saw a completely empty dining room. However, because it was Super Bowl Sunday, I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I was sorely mistaken. The servers who eventually came to take our orders seemed genuinely confused that there were customers interested in dining. The meals we eventually were served were abysmal. Judging from your lovely photos of sumptuous meals presented on your website I thought we would be in for a real treat. This was for us a celebration of two birthdays. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. We started our meal with crab soup, garden salad, fresh berry bowl and crab dip. The soup and salad were passable and of average quality. The "crab" dip however, had no acquaintance with an actual crab and was only soft cream cheese with perhaps a hint of old bay seasoning. Pitiful excuse for crab dip. The berry bowl was plentiful and fresh. It was the highlight of the entire meal. Next, after way too long of a wait came our main courses. Though we were the Only customers in the entire restaurant, our orders were mis- delivered to each of us! Incredible. Since this was meant to be a celebration, we did not skimp with our choice of entre's. We ordered the New York strip dinner and crab cake dinner and seafood Alfredo. There was no NY strip available, so it was replaced by a sirloin. Though we requested it to be cooked medium well, it was presented to us charred and dry and tough as shoe leather, No Lie. I believe it was freezer burned, frozen and thawed/cooked to death on the grill. My daughter couldn't eat it. The crab cakes were made with claw meat, mushy and tasteless. I couldn't eat them. The mashed potatoes were definitely constructed from dried potato flakes. Really?! A fine restaurant serving boxed mashed potatoes? Shame on you! The only edible portion of our meals was the broccoli, which thankfully was steamed perfectly. The pasta was average, at best. The only acceptable meal was the grilled chicken sandwich and fries that the conservative member of our party ordered. She obviously sized up the culinary abilities of your chef? I did not shrink from ordering from the top offerings from your menu. This was, after all, to be a celebration. Our meal was in No measure the value of the price paid. Even so, I was generous in tipping the wait staff because the lack of food quality was not their fault. Never the less, I will never return to your dining establishment and will share my experience with my friends and acquaintances. PS. I've had way better meals at far less expense at the Towson Diner. My husband and I stayed at the Sheraton North; which is where Rain 903 is located. We met the new Head Chef, who's only been there a week, and he recommended to us that we stay and eat there for dinner instead of venturing out to find another restaurant. He suggested we start with a bowl of his special recipe cream of crab soup. It was delicious!!! In each spoonful there was a piece of fresh lump crab meat. After the soup he made us Cajun grilled shrimp over baguette toasted bread, the dish was an appetizer, but I definitely could have eaten just that dish for dinner. My husband and I loved it. Our main dish was crab cakes, which were the delicious. They served two cakes filled with fresh lump crab meat and no filler; it was more than enough for us to eat. I can't express to you how awesome the food was and how friendly the staff were to us. We are not from the MD area, but planning another getaway weekend, so we can eat at Rain 903 again. I highly recommend this restaurant! You won't be disappointed! read more

I decided to try this restaurant after hearing about it on restaurants.com and went on March 12. To begin I ate dinner here with my boyfriend at approximately 6:30 pm. We waited about 10 minutes to be sat and were the only ones in the restaurant and. After sitting down we were told our waiter would be right with us and we ordered drinks. After our drinks arrived our waiter still did not appear and the bar tender took our appetizer order. We got the calamari which was great. After that the bar tender came back and took our orders. I had the crab cakes which I would give 5 stars, and my boyfriend had a burger which he would give 4 stars. If this experience was based purely on food I would give this restaurant 5 stars, but as our meal went on the service got worse. Two other groups entered the restaurant and our service became dismal.The waiter never showed up and the staff was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. They forgot to get refills when we asked and never cleared our appetizer dishes. The groups around us were also getting frustrated which distracted us from our great food. We waited over 30 minutes after we finished eating for our check because no one was attending us. I would not go back although the food was top notch. read more

Arrived at 9pm, I know, close to closing time of 10 pm but I got off work late. Server pleasant, courteous. No problems at all with her. Menu descriptions sounded great- not what I was expecting from a business-traveler hotel restaurant. Ordered LUMP crabcake dinner. LUMP. What I received was two patties of bread with some shredded crab meat mixed in and some very dry mustard seeds that were crunchy. I was appalled. I know, there are starving people around the world and I'm complaining about the state of my crab cakes. But seriously. I am a Maryland girl through and through and was a waitress for nearly a decade. If there is one thing ANY Maryland restaurant should be able to do, it is to serve a decent crab cake. And if your crab cake is actually going to be made with backfin (which is ok and can be done well if you do it right) don't insult me by advertising it as lump and thinking I won't know the difference. Not to mention, they are serving this crap to people from out-of-state. I hope no one visited the Sheraton and left thinking THAT was a typical crab cake in this area. Yikes! So, sorry, one star because I will never go back to a place that serves backfin and a LARGE amount of filler and calls it a lump crab cake. Server comped the crab cake (she really was a sweetheart) and brought me a salmon dinner which would have been ok if the asparagus wasn't cooked so well-done that it was served to me shriveled and dry or if the entire entree weren't coated in sea salt. A pinch! A pinch is all you need. Sea salt goes a long way. Ugh! My husband fared better than I did with his burger. His only complaint was that it was a little dry but generally good. read more
