I love the family environment. I love the local brews. I can't wait for the Metro car to be open.

I knew this spot to be mostly Caribbean and Afrikan. It gets crowded after midnight but a comfortable crowded. Drinks weren't to pricey. I drank fruit punch. I wanted to check the place out sober. The bartenders were okay. Not to talkative just made drinks pretty much. I was a bartender so having conversation helps you make tips . I would come again. I mean it's up the road and who wants to always fight for parking downtown. The ox tails were okay. I like the food and atmosphere. I never been inside the smaller bar they have Next door during the week but I know that is the original location. Give it a try. I felt safe and there was no fighting or drama. I seen under 30 men and women and it was fun and not ratchet at all.

Environment was clean, not too crowded and lighting/special effects were perfect. Drinks were good and not overpriced. Cover charge was 5 bucks. I really enjoyed myself and so did my friends. The DJ played a good variety of music. As the night progressed they played more Caribbean and African music. I really enjoyed myself and I would return in the future.

The owner came out and we had a nice conversation, this was a good sign to have the owner on the job, well not so. We ordered shrimp salad sandwiches with french fries b/c many positive reviews. Truthfully, the ff were supposed to be fresh cut and they had the shape of fresh cut. These were warm and over cooked. The sandwiches were just ok, mine was on rye and the bread was off fresh. So half of the sandwiches came home. Sorry no pictures. We probably won't be back. The service was good and plenty of free parking. '

What we did not realize that on a Friday night, it would be so terribly noisy in the back that we could barely hear ourselves talk. Unfortunately, all the tables up front were reserved, so we could not move to the front part of the restaurant where we thought it might be quieter. Our waitress took our order and brought our drinks. We all had something different: Soft shell crab platter with green beans, Shrimp salad platter with a salad, Sour beef and dumplings, and another Shrimp salad platter with onions rings ($2 upcharge). Unfortunately, they brought my salad after my shrimp salad; I would have liked it before. The food is always delicious here. The noise level really took down our dining pleasure.

This scene certainly is not for everyone. The crowd was mostly in their early 20s and predominantly female. Great opportunity for young men to meet some young women that are more than likely twerking and enjoying their BYOB drinks. Being our first time here, it was a little confusing as to whether we had to find our own seat or the server was going to do that for us. The hookah smoked great and the vibe was fun. The security in Kevlar was a little concerning to me, but maybe that the norm at clubbish places these days. When the music went off and the lights came on, everyone was quick to scurry out of there. The staff came over and was chatting with us, even exchanging drinks with us. They really respected their elders . Wednesdays are free crabs and discounted hookahs. The staff said it's their favorite night. Perhaps more chill than a Saturday. There is a liquor store in this shopping center which made this a very quick stop before going to the lounge. Despite being much older than their regular Saturday night crowd... I would totally go back!

Clandestino has grown up, literally. What began as a small operation in Frederick has moved into a…read morelarger space, and the expansion suits them well. This is Puerto Rican pitorro, also known as ron cañita, made with care and intention rather than gimmickry. Many local liquor stores now carry the brand, and it is well worth picking up a bottle, but visiting the distillery is an experience in itself. The founder is a fellow Puerto Rican born retired military member, a background I share, and like me, he has put down roots in Maryland. That story is reflected clearly in the brand's own framing, "Puerto Rican born, Maryland made." The space feels grounded and unpretentious, and that sensibility carries through to the hospitality. We arrived late on a Saturday and were still welcomed warmly, never rushed. We were taken care of by the founder's daughter, who was exceptionally kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. She guided us through a flight that included the traditional pitorro, almond, pineapple, coffee, coconut chai, and several seasonal offerings. The flavors were thoughtful and well balanced; even the infused expressions retained a clear rum backbone rather than drifting into novelty. We enjoyed them enough to leave with several bottles. This is artisanal pitorro done right, rooted in Puerto Rican tradition and confidently made in Maryland. Buying it locally is convenient, but going to the distillery is where the people, the story, and the spirit fully come together.
