We came to Rafferty's for dinner tonight. We were here last year at the same time. My father in law loves this joint so of course we had to come back. We came for an early dinner tonight to beat the crowd. Walking up the ramp, we were instantly greeted by one of the hostesses. She had the door open for all of us to trickle in. One hostess got our menus ready and the next host got us sat at a table/booth combo table. Deanna (I believe that was our servers name. She had on really cute flamingo earrings.) greeted us with her beautiful smile. She got our drink orders started while we were looking over the menu. Our drinks were dropped off and orders were taken. We started off with the nutty honey butter croissants. I remember eating these vividly last year so it was a must have today. They were so soft and buttery. The sweet glaze on top was so good. These things could ruin me if I lived here. It was hard only eating one. I ordered the sunshine salad tonight. Chicken salad with a side of fruit. The fruit had a citrus topping on it. I'm not gonna lie, the chicken salad didn't do it for me. It had a good amount of apples, celery and grapes in it. The chicken was nicely diced and mixed well into the salad so you got some in every bite. The dressing of the chicken wasn't my favorite. After a couple bites I knew it wasn't for me. The fruit on the other hand was delicious! I love love loved the citrus topping they used on the fruit. It was so good! I enjoyed the strawberries, cantaloupe and honeydew very much! I ended up swapping out the chicken salad for more fruit and I'm not mad about it! My husband ordered the pineapple soy marinaded ribeye for dinner. He did start off with a delicious Cesar salad. The salad was heavily dressed and the greens were so crisp. I got a few bites of his ribeye and it was so good! The steak was tender and so flavorful! It had beautiful char marks on it! I was jealous at how tasty his steak was! We were talking about our future meal next year and this steak will be my next meal for sure! I also did get a taste of the fries, which were so good! The fries are limpy and soft which are my favorite! The chicken tenders were good, especially dipped in the honey mustard sauce. Needless to say, I got a bit of everyone's meal and it was all fantastic! I want to compliment Deanna. My father in law ordered sweet tea and it did come out pretty light. It was expressed to us that there was something wrong with the ice tea machine. Deanna brought a fresh soda out for my father in law. While we were eating, Deanna brewed fresh ice and sweet tea for us! She brought out a fresh glass of teas and brought to go cups as well so we can drink the rest of it later. Servers like Deanna are special and I'm happy she served us tonight. Tonight's visit was nice. Even though I didn't like my chicken salad, Deanna made sure I left happy. She went above and beyond and I appreciate her for that! I look forward to coming back next year and having the same ribeye as my husband did. read more

My new favorite place to eat in Athens Ga. This is one of the few locations that offer a 8oz burger. Mine was delicious! It's served with fries or another side of your choice. As an appetizer I ordered some croissants, which taste incredible. They are large, hot and melt in your mouth. You could get a drink and 5 croissants and have a wonderful evening. I love the environment, there's plenty of parking, and the servers are pleasant. Gabby was our server and she is the best! They even use her as a trainer whenever there are new employees. This is the best place because prices are reasonable. A basic dinner will set you back maybe $50 w soft drinks and $40 before tip if you don't order drinks. I generally tip 25% for good servers and 15-20% for average servers. I was just there last week, so go check it out! You will fall in love. read more

First time visiting for a decent mid-afternoon Sunday experience with immediate seating and consistent service. The Nutty Honey Butter Croissant is a sweet, warm, light appetizer. Our table's entrees included the half club / soups, chicken fingers, cheeseburger and bacon cheeseburger. All of these were delicious and filling. On a recent business trip to Athens, my colleagues suggested we try one of their favorite local restaurants, Rafferty's! We arrived right before noon and the restaurant was packed. The interior of the restaurant is bright and welcoming with a slightly upscale feel. We were seated right away in a booth at the middle of the dining room despite the lunch crowd. Torn on what to order, and wanting to try everything, I enjoyed the following: - Famous Potato Soup, topped with cheese, chives and chopped bacon - Nutty Honey Butter Croissant: hot-from-the-oven Croissants drizzled with honey butter then topped with Candied Pecans - Rafferty's American Cheeseburger: A thick juicy Black Angus chuck patty grilled on hickory wood then topped with American cheese, crispy lettuce, sliced tomato, onion, pickles, mayo and mustard. Served on a fresh brioche bun. - Hand-Cut French Fries My absolute favorite thing I ate was the nutty honey butter croissant, but that should be obvious, right - who doesn't love sweet, flaky bread? I also enjoyed the famous potato soup but have definitely had better elsewhere. The fries were good but the cheeseburger was very thick and overwhelming - I would probably choose another dish on my next visit. Maybe just an entire order of the nutty honey butter croissants. Service was great! Our server did not miss a beat and even recognized my colleagues from prior visits. Drinks were full the entire time and our server always came back with a smiling face. This place has really gone downhill over the past year. I will not be returning because the food just isn't the same anymore! The large number of folks waiting to be seated belies the tener of the restaurant. It is typical so-called "Gather Eat Drink" place similar to Applebee's etc. so basically they follow the recipe - classic American "comfort food" the $10 burgers and such. This particular visit was right after church on Sunday so it was a bit busy. After waiting for our lukewarm food for twenty minutes my response from the MoD was "were busy today" like it was the first Sunday they have been open. I am very frustrated these days spending my hard earned money on mediocre food and service. Their only saving grace was ice cold draft beer. Because of their apparent mismanagement you should set your bar low for your next visit. P.S. my "fresh made" tortilla chips were stale. read more

I've been a loyal patron of this establishment for over 15 yrs. Always ordered the house salad. Always whether it's done in or carry out. Today I order my usual house salad to go. Get home and find less than half the normal portion. Smaller container but still same price. Called back and was told the "house salad is the side salad". When clearly there's a totally different salad considered the house salad. The container is so thin the dressing containers can't fit. I work at the hospital where there is a chic Fil an onsite. I normally would bypass chic Fil for my Rafferty's house salad, drive 10 minutes out the way because it's always been worth the price. But not anymore. Our group all had BLTs n fruit very good. the bacon was wonderful. Mariah was so wonderful very attentive, even got down on her knees for help one elderly lady in our group who has a hearing aid, to explain the drink options to her. Mariah was such a serving angel to Nancy who is 98 years old. Mariah is one of your treasures as a waitress!!!! However, your staff outside of Rafferty's is another matter. When our party of six, arrived 15 minutes to 11:00AM. We had made reservations from 11-1:30. First when my conversion van pulled into the disabled parking space, one of your staff came running up to me AFTER I had exited the conversion disabled van from my ramp and had closed the side door. She informed me that there was more disabled parking around the other side. I told her I needed to park in this particular spot because I needed 8 feet to drop the ramp. I had put out my orange cone for the purpose of this 8-foot maneuver. My Van HAS A SIGN ON THE RIGHT SIDE SAYING, " PLEASE DO NOT PARK WITH IN 8 FEET OF THIS VEHICLE!!!!" When I returned to my conversion van someone had moved the orange cone from the spot where I had placed it. There was no way I could have gotten into my van to leave. The cone was up on the sidewalk where someone had place it. I had to get someone in our group (thank God this person was around to help me. I had to sit in my scooter in the boiling sun for 20 minutes while I she had to learn on a crash-course of how to operate all the devices like raise the seat, turn the seat, maneuver the seat forward and this was before she could even drive the car out of the NOW tight disabled parking place. Once she drove the van out of TPS she had to reset all the seat positions for me and drop the ramp for me to get into my vehicle to leave Rafferty's parking lot. Now, whoever moved the cone is not none at this minute, (however, Rafferty's probably has outside cameras). Whether it was a customer coming to eat at your restaurant or a staff member who moved the cone, is not my concern right at this minute. What is not right is that you do not have enough disabled parking for an 8 Foot-Side loading conversion van! That is discrimination against the disabled population here in Athens, GA! Your Franchise needs to repaint the Disabled parking spaces for at least ONE 8 Foot side loading Conversion Van. That would be an easy fix. Another issue needs to be resolved, When an 98 year old woman is standing out in the boiling sun at 10:45 and the door is locked and 4 of your staff members inside Rafferty's tells me, "We do not open until 11:00AM" there is a problem cause. I told them to please open the door for her please and let her into the cool restaurant as she was very old and disabled. Then I I heard the thing, " We DO not open our doors until 11.00AM". I said, " she's too old and infirmed to return to her car for 15 minutes. So please bring out a chair for her if u will not open the door until 11:00 AM. This is another discriminating situation!!!!! read more

Our friends chose Raffety's. It was my 2nd time in 10 years. I made ZERO substitutions when ordering. I even went with the recommended dressing. I'm really an easy guest as I have no food issues/ allergies/ aversions. As I was removing the large amount of bitter yellow lettuce core (approximately 3/4 cup), I noticed salad items were missing. I got up to find a menu, and sure enough, they left off THREE salad items. Please note also that the chicken was about 1/2 of a small filet (4 small cut-up strips). Our waitress didn't come check on us after the food was served. So I waited a few minutes (I was figuring out why my salad looked sparse as I was removing the core) and then went to a hostess with my plate. My original plate was returned with the MIA items on a separate plate. I didn't mention the chicken portion being anemic. The salad was still extremely mediocre. I didn't think my original salad would be reused. Is that how things are done? Anyway.... BUT still nothing was offered to say, "Hey, we're sorry we messed up your night and $100 dinner party. Would you like some desserts?" I just left disappointed and would have given another star IF desserts were offered and had a manager come by to fix the situation. The others in my party said their food was "Okay." The fried mushrooms were enjoyed by all though. The restaurant's temperature was just right. The place seems tired but clean. The parking lot was clean. Overall, it's an overpriced restaurant that I might try again in 10 years--if someone else is paying. read more

All the waitresses were extremely nice and very chipper as well as answered all my questions on items on the menu. Rafferty's Restaurant in Athens GA. I was told this is a chain restaurant but I have never seen any other. The gist of my experience is that both their food and service were outstanding. The outside of the restaurant is super cute and welcoming. The inside is cozy and perfect for any occasion from a date to time with the family or a friends night out. They have a full bar, booths, tables, cozy area tables and big screen with different things to watch like a sports bar. Rafferty's states they make everything from scratch and their food definitely tastes like it. Customer Service was superb. We visited the day before Christmas, the whole place was decorated like it. When we arrived the hostesses immediately greeted us with a big smile and wearing Christmas Sweaters and sat us down. Our waiter was most attentive. We ordered Mojitos but they were out of mint so we ended up getting beer and wine. As an appetizer we got the battered mushrooms which comes with a powerful horseradish sauce. Loved them. I ended up ordering their 12 oz soup of the day which was chicken noodle soup and it was perfect. Regardless of the unsettling yelp picture of a bloody arm and its review on what happened I had a positive experience and I highly recommend Rafferty's. Never go to this restaurant with a party of 10 or more. They have a policy of two tables required if a party of over 8. So you get their early on Sunday and you see 10 crowds of 8 or less go by while they make you wait on two tables side by side. Very bad policy . The food is good but not worth the wait read more

Haven't been here in at least 8yrs and the food is still delicious! I ordered the special blackened or grilled salmon with 1 side. I also had the house salad with hot bacon dressing. For some reason I thought Applebee's only served this dressing. My husband ordered the Club sandwich w/fries. They have the best fries- fried just right soft and tasty:). They were almost as though they were baked. The honey drizzled petite croissant is delicious! It's served w/salad or you can have them as appetizer. Our server was awesome! I don't remember her name but she was very prompt and professional. She thoroughly explained the specials of the day and any item on the menu. The interior of Rafferty's is very nice. I loved the decor - candles, oversized plates, bowls, etc. Rustic or Fall colors - browns, oranges, gold,etc. I noticed there is a full bar. At the time we were there maybe about 6 or 8 ppl were sitting there. And that was about 3PM. Parking lot is spacious- front and back. Easy access from the highway. I always order what I want and I think it has always been a good value for the $. I think you should try Rafferty's & I have tried both Lunch & Dinner. I believe they have a Daily Special. I give it a 3++ to a 4. I do not give out very many 5's. I eat here often if it is meal time. read more
