My husband was happy to find someone that knew how to make a decent Old Fashion cocktail! Our bathroom was fairly small, but functional enough. Like many in Europe, the bathroom does not have washcloths (only hand towels and bath towels). Our room was pretty spacious and our bed was very comfortable, something I can't say for every hotel on our tour. The room had a nice sized t.v. that had a Netflix option on it, another stand out feature from some of our other stays this trip. We had dinner one night in the hotel restaurant. The food portions were large and restaurant staff friendly. We really liked our chicken appetizer, but my hamburger lacked seasoning (tasted a bit bland---needed salt/pepper/garlic). The breakfast options were pretty usual for Europe and the servers were great with coming around to refill coffee. If staying in Limerick, I think this hotel is a really good option to consider.

She brought us two different lamps that did work, but it would've been nice to have the third one. She said, "You like your lamps, do you?" Bathroom garbage had been left from previous guests. Street traffic and party revelers awakened me late into the wee hours of the morning. Not my favorite stay in Ireland.

So, our group had to venture to a nearby pub to order some food. We brought back takeout for a couple of young parents in our group that stayed behind with their baby. THEY WERE THEN BANISHED TO THE SITTING ROOM TO EAT THEIR TAKEOUT. Again, nobody was allowed to bring a morsel of food into their bar that was NOT serving food. There was hardly anyone there!! Just not a warm first impression. We were exhausted and starving, and that was a dumb rule. The woman at the front desk was not particularly pleasant, and she was also the bartender. Our room was sub par, cigarette burns in the tub. No extra toilet paper in the room when we ran out. And the broken thermostat was blinking the whole stay, begging for a filter change...gross. The china was also dirty at breakfast. The only pluses I will give to this place: the sitting and dining rooms were decorated well and the OTHER staff (NOT the receptionist/bartender) were pleasant. Owner also seemed nice.

Turns out having consistent amenities like shampoo, soap, and conditioner arent a constant normal thing in hotels. Nor is air conditioning. This hotel had both those things AND delicious hotel food. Maybe it's hard to find food to fit the budget of the included meals in a tour group, so Ive been eating some version of chicken and mash at every meal. This time I went rogue and paid for my own meal and was treated to a delicious braised beef dish and toffee pudding. Best meal I had on the whole trip was from a hotel and I still think about that braised beef. Oh yeah, the view is pretty good if you get a waterside view room. I unfortunately got a view of the roof, but I won't let that deter me from giving this place 5 stars.

The weekend we were there, the hotel was quite busy and was unable to find a spot to park the second night and ended up paying to park across the street. We didn't know until after we paid to park that, according to the front desk, the spots out front of the hotel that say 2 hour parking can be ignored and are able to be parked all night. Besides parking, everything else was great. Staff are very nice and we enjoyed our room. The view was also really nice of River Shannon. The hotel is a short walk to King John's castle, St. Mary's Cathedral, The Milk Market, and various bars and food. It's a great place to call home base for a few nights. I'd definitely stay again if visiting Limerick again.

Myself and my girlfriend were flying from Shannon Airport and needed to be at the airport for 6am…read more We decided rather than havin to get up earlier than needed to drive from Cork we would book in a hotel nearby to the airport. The first main positive about this hotel was the price. It was only €49 per night (not including breakfast) which was about €20 cheaper than a lot of the hotels right at Shannon. For the sake of driving 20minutes I was happy to save the extra few euro. When we checked in we were met by a very friendly receptionist who gave us the key to our room and advised that the kitchen stopped serving food at 8:30pm so if we wanted something to order asap (it was now 8:20pm). We checked in quickly and were very happy with the room, it looked very clean and had everything we needed. We then went out and ordered food. My girlfriend had chicken strippers and I had the southern style chicken burger. Both of us were very happy with the food and the price. Worked out at about €15 each for the main course and a pint. The pub also seems very lively with plenty of groups seated enjoying their night. Back to the room. The TV stations were perfect quality. We started watching a movie before bed and had no problems with reception or anything like that. The bed was very comfy, but we were in room 105 which was right beside the pub, so if you are a light sleeper it might be an idea to request a different room as you'd head the occasional laugh or noise coming from the bar. It didn't bother us though. The next morning the shower was great. Plenty of hot water and very easy to control the heat level. The one negative about the shower was the bath was a bit narrow so the shower curtain would stick to you at times, but you get over that. We had to check out at 5:30am to travel to the airport, at first we were a little worried would someone be around to leave us out, but the night porter was there to greet and check us out. The only bad experience (not really too bad) was I went to reception at about 10pm just to ask a quick question and there was nobody there. I waited a few moments and then saw a sign saying if someone wasnt there to ask the bar staff, which I did and they were a great help. Honestly, I couldnt recommend the hotel enough. The only reason they get 4 out of 5 instead of 5 out of 5 is that the hallways and things look a little dated, but for the price that wouldnt bother me.

No1 Pery Square - Butternut squash soup with bread. What more could anyone ask for on a chilly rainy day in Ireland?

Butternut squash soup with the wonderful Guinness bread I ate my weight in all over Ireland. I wasn't that hungry, but I chose to have dessert -- it was a fresh lime sorbet with lime rinds added. The friends I was with had other dishes, which they also enjoyed -- including the hotel's own sticky toffee pudding, to which I was a stranger before I visited Ireland, and which my endocrinologist is really mad I discovered while I was there! Absolutely everything was marvelous: My room was spacious, well-stocked, cozy, quiet and with a large bathroom; the bar and lounge/cafe on the ground floor offered a delicious menu--both full lunches and evening light fare--along with well-made drinks; the spacious breakfast room was a treat (think shakshuka, eggs Benedict, porridge, French toast); the staff, especially at the front desk, was courteous and considerate; and the spa, where I booked a lovely facial, was professional and relaxing. A special shout-out to the young man at the front desk who took care of all my requests, respected that I didn't want to be disturbed but was always available for a little chat when I emerged from my room. He helped to make my brief stay that much more enjoyable. The only negative comments I would make are that the carpet in my room needed cleaning or replacing. And I wasn't aware there was a rubber bath mat available upon request (perhaps it could be placed on the tub automatically), making climbing in and out of the tub to take a shower a bit precarious. I'd return just to stay at 1 Pery Square. Thanks for such a marvelous visit!

The event space was beautiful. We were blown away by the food at dinner the evening before and at the wedding reception. Our friends are still talking about the risotto, beef Wellington and the fillet. It's rare to experience fine dining at an event, but that's exactly what was provided for us. Our family has traveled extensively. We can happily report that Dromoland is the best overall experience that we have ever had in a hotel. The castle and grounds are gorgeous and meticulously maintained. Most historic hotels have fusty guest rooms. Dromoland had modern, luxurious rooms with state of the art fittings. Everything in the rooms was great, but the beds and showers were world class. Our guests were raving about their accommodations. The common areas were fun to spend time in. The live music was a treat. The food at the castle is by far the best food we had in Ireland. It would hold its own against any fine dining establishment. The bride and groom had an amazing dinner in the Earl of Thomond restaurant. I had the best fish and chips of my life in the Gallery and was pleased to quaff my first pint of Guinness in Ireland at the cocktail bar. Breakfast was an event in itself. The food and service were amazing. We commandeered a large table and spent a couple of hours every morning with a rotating cast of family and friends. The excellent staff took it all in stride. The activities were great- my family was captivated by the falconry. Jane's hotel tour was a lot of fun. One friend played an enjoyable round of golf and our kids tried skeet shooting- all were very happy. Many of us had excursions organized by Dromoland. The drivers were courteous and knowledgeable. The thing that sets Dromoland apart from every other hotel that we have ever stayed at is the level of service. The staff are charming and amazingly helpful. They often anticipated our needs. The attention to detail was awesome. The rooms and common areas were meticulously clean. Turndown service was lovely. The housekeeping staff would even tidy up chargers and cords when they made their rounds. The wedding and our extended stay at Dromoland was a peak experience for our family and friends. We can't recommend the castle highly enough. We should have stayed a few more days just to relax.

We arrived to a small sign personally welcoming us. Niall and Darra treated us like family while we stayed at their house and even dined at their table. They were personally acquainted with the entire area and gave us honest recommendations for spending our days there. We were able to see the Cliffs without crowds because of their directions. We then had the perfect dinner of local food at Roadford House where we walked along stonewalls past cows, horses, and sheep to the intimate dining room overlooking pastures. We ended the night by enjoying local music at O'Connor's Pub just a minute walk from the Sea View. We would highly recommend staying at the Sea View for at least a few nights on your trip to Ireland.
