10oz sirloin at the hotel's steakhouse
    Kristine R.

I stayed here for 5 days and it is a business trip. The exterior of the hotel looks medieval to me and the lobby is lovely. I like the couch, fireplace and their choice of flowers. The room though needs a lot of updating. Carpet is old, small tv and furnitures shows signs of wear. Wifi is ok. I can use my email but if I need to connect with vpn and download reports it takes forever. It is just good for browsing and viber not sure with streaming. The only point of interest in this area is the Bunratty castle & folk park, 2 gift shops, Durty Nelly's and Creamery bar all are across the hotel. JP Clarke's and Gallagher is like 500 meters away and are good restaurants. Hotel restaurant (Kathleen's) has good choices of beer and whiskey. Food not too great. The steakhouse is better I think. I love the 10 oz sirloin with portobello mushroom. For guests who has corporate account, they have separate breakfast area. We ate breakfast at The library and there's a nice lady who serves tea, coffee and preps the toast. I dont know how different the menu is compared to the breakfast served downstairs. The service on this part is really good. I will come back because it is close to the airport and to our company but will not stay here if i bring my family.

I stayed at this hotel one night in October 2009, and was highly impressed. It's a beautiful building on the outside, and perfectly situated across the street from the Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. It's a newer building, and no wear and tear to be seen. The complimentary breakfast was buffet style, and everything tasted great. The complimentary wifi also worked perfectly. There was a wedding party going on while we stayed there, and some of our tour party were invited in to have drinks with the wedding party!

Hands down my favorite hotel so far in Ireland. The rooms are large and comfortable. Had that classic warm charm I was not expecting. Service 5+++ Comfort 5 Food 5 Lobby 5 Parking 5 Free wifi Free parking Free breakfast Breakfast was amazingly good. Had my taste buds dancing up a storm. But I'm not from Ireland so.....whatever. Front desk really helped me out A LOT. I bothered them so much and they kept a smile and kept giving me info and help. That's what I call service. They even extended extra services and did not charge me. 5 stars and I will be staying here almost exclusively when in the area. For dinner try PJ Clarkes which is 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive.

The was a real fire always in the lobby.

This was probably our least favorite hotel to stay in. There's not much around and the hotel itself is old. The room was rather expensive for the quality of it. We didn't visit the pool since the hotel guide in the room said they require a head cap to swim in it. I really expected more. However, the entrance and lobby are absolutely gorgeous and the staff were very kind. We stayed 2 nights and the only time the room had to be cleaned, it barely was. Our bed was made and new towels were placed in the bathroom but our wine glasses from the night before were left and no new water cups were placed. There is a water warmer for instant coffee or tea that had water left from previous people. Overall, I wouldn't recommend or stay here again. There are TONS of local B&Bs that are far cheaper and with a better quality.

She brought us two different lamps that did work, but it would've been nice to have the third one. She said, "You like your lamps, do you?" Bathroom garbage had been left from previous guests. Street traffic and party revelers awakened me late into the wee hours of the morning. Not my favorite stay in Ireland.

So, our group had to venture to a nearby pub to order some food. We brought back takeout for a couple of young parents in our group that stayed behind with their baby. THEY WERE THEN BANISHED TO THE SITTING ROOM TO EAT THEIR TAKEOUT. Again, nobody was allowed to bring a morsel of food into their bar that was NOT serving food. There was hardly anyone there!! Just not a warm first impression. We were exhausted and starving, and that was a dumb rule. The woman at the front desk was not particularly pleasant, and she was also the bartender. Our room was sub par, cigarette burns in the tub. No extra toilet paper in the room when we ran out. And the broken thermostat was blinking the whole stay, begging for a filter change...gross. The china was also dirty at breakfast. The only pluses I will give to this place: the sitting and dining rooms were decorated well and the OTHER staff (NOT the receptionist/bartender) were pleasant. Owner also seemed nice.

The paved parking lot was a welcome home to throw down my motorcycle kickstand and settle in for the night. I appreciated the lovely landscaping and several varieties of flowering plants and bushes, which lends additional beauty to this lovely B&B. Rich carpets, thick draperies, fine decor, and tastefully furnished rooms await your arrival. I was greeted and the kind hosts immediately and served coffee, tea, digestives, and chocolates in a lovely, comfortably appointed tea room. Morning breakfast comes with several satisfying options and I had ample space in my room and attached bathroom. The window from the sleeping area overlooked a broad expanse of field where horses peacefully grazed. Heading out for dinner entailed a short, pleasant walk to Bunratty where there are several options, including Durty Nellie's, which boasted an upstairs outdoor patio overlooking a small square. The Bunratty Villa B&B's lovely furnishings, landscaping, and attention to detail made me feel like a minor noble in his/her country house. I highly recommend staying here!

The event space was beautiful. We were blown away by the food at dinner the evening before and at the wedding reception. Our friends are still talking about the risotto, beef Wellington and the fillet. It's rare to experience fine dining at an event, but that's exactly what was provided for us. Our family has traveled extensively. We can happily report that Dromoland is the best overall experience that we have ever had in a hotel. The castle and grounds are gorgeous and meticulously maintained. Most historic hotels have fusty guest rooms. Dromoland had modern, luxurious rooms with state of the art fittings. Everything in the rooms was great, but the beds and showers were world class. Our guests were raving about their accommodations. The common areas were fun to spend time in. The live music was a treat. The food at the castle is by far the best food we had in Ireland. It would hold its own against any fine dining establishment. The bride and groom had an amazing dinner in the Earl of Thomond restaurant. I had the best fish and chips of my life in the Gallery and was pleased to quaff my first pint of Guinness in Ireland at the cocktail bar. Breakfast was an event in itself. The food and service were amazing. We commandeered a large table and spent a couple of hours every morning with a rotating cast of family and friends. The excellent staff took it all in stride. The activities were great- my family was captivated by the falconry. Jane's hotel tour was a lot of fun. One friend played an enjoyable round of golf and our kids tried skeet shooting- all were very happy. Many of us had excursions organized by Dromoland. The drivers were courteous and knowledgeable. The thing that sets Dromoland apart from every other hotel that we have ever stayed at is the level of service. The staff are charming and amazingly helpful. They often anticipated our needs. The attention to detail was awesome. The rooms and common areas were meticulously clean. Turndown service was lovely. The housekeeping staff would even tidy up chargers and cords when they made their rounds. The wedding and our extended stay at Dromoland was a peak experience for our family and friends. We can't recommend the castle highly enough. We should have stayed a few more days just to relax.

Turns out having consistent amenities like shampoo, soap, and conditioner arent a constant normal thing in hotels. Nor is air conditioning. This hotel had both those things AND delicious hotel food. This time I went rogue and paid for my own meal and was treated to a delicious braised beef dish and toffee pudding. Best meal I had on the whole trip was from a hotel and I still think about that braised beef. Oh yeah, the view is pretty good if you get a waterside view room. Besides parking, everything else was great. Staff are very nice and we enjoyed our room. The view was also really nice of River Shannon. The hotel is a short walk to King John's castle, St. Mary's Cathedral, The Milk Market, and various bars and food. It's a great place to call home base for a few nights. I'd definitely stay again if visiting Limerick again.
