This review is LONG overdue, but we felt like we hit the jackpot!! Let's start by saying, overall I don't think we had many expectations for the drive to Limerick. It was easy enough getting there from Dingle and not long of a drive. Our hotel was right on the "strand" (which is what they call rivers? in Ireland). We got incredibly lucky and got upgraded to an amazing suite when we checked in. We aren't sure if it is because it was only one night's stay, or because we used the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, but it was literally the biggest and nicest room my husband and I had EVER stayed in (August 2023). Unfortunately the hotel didn't offer laundry services for only one night, but the staff was very helpful in sharing some food recommendations for dinner and breakfast. Emily and Scott were especially helpful making sure we had everything we needed and making us feel very comfortable and welcomed into the city. The hotel itself is located in a perfect spot between being able to walk the main downtown streets and still close enough to the points-of-interests. It felt designed towards business related events and we really clean, nicely decorated and smelt good! In the lobby, they had a piano (which the F major key didn't work) but that's ok. Our junior suite was on the third floor, and was the corner room with a wrap around balcony giving 180°+ views of the city, including the King John's Castle. It was the only true king size bed we have had and even had 2 sinks! It was furnished beautifully and has perks like blankets for the glassed-in balcony and modern accent lighting. We really liked this hotel and was our favorite by far!! read more

Came to the Strand Hotel for a business trip. Our room was clean and well decorated contemporary. Free Wi-Fi was great to watch my shows and work. The room service was very convenient as we were jetlagged and our time was off. The restaurant and bar on the bottom floor were great! The food was local and fresh. The service was amazing! Located in a good spot to walk around the river. Will be coming back for work but next time will extend our stay to be tourists and get to know the area better. As far as the hotel, it's great in every way! If you're coming to this part of Ireland, this is the place to stay! read more

We arrived late in the evening to Limerick and were looking for a place and the Strand stood out on the river. Modern well appointed rooms which are quiet and well shielded from the light outside. Sleep quality was good, comfortable beds and the air conditioning helping out there. The hotel has very fast Wi-Fi available in all rooms and the restaurant/bar/reception area, which was handy for uploading some photos taken so far this trip. Would be a great place to get some work done if you needed to connect to the office (our room had a good size desk area). In the base of the hotel there is a healthclub which is complimentary for hotel guests - 20m lap pool, two spas, steam room and sauna, and also weights and cardio equipment. Breakfast was a good spread of hot and cold options and baked goods. A notable inclusion was an omelette station. Brewed coffee. I'd definitely stay here again. The walk-in price seemed reasonable too - 129EUR for 3 adults B&B. read more

This hotel is well-maintained and just steps away from the River Shannon. I didn't have a view of the river, but rather the apartments next door. The one surprise was how large the room was. I'm used to smaller rooms when travelling in Europe, so the space to spread out was appreciated. The hot buffet breakfast was included in my room rate and was well done. Stayed here last weekend. Very welcoming staff and good check-in. Standard modern room, very comfortable and clean. Has all you need and very comfy bed and nice bathroom. Complimentary wi-fi, but not that great. One of the reviewers posted that they have high-speed internet connection, but that wasn't my experience. It was very slow, but the hotel is in a great location. I had a nice walk around the city but wish we had more time to explore Limerick. read more

It had been a while since I ate at the Terrace Bar in The Strand Hotel but I've always liked it there, staff are friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and it's a great place to meet friends. Tonight I was just in the mood for their delicious Croque Monsieur but alas I was too late for the lunch menu. I liked a few of the main courses on the menu but I was put off by the prices. €16.95 for bangers and mash? €15 for spaghetti bolognese? It's a bit steep. I opted for a starter of BBQ chicken wings (€8.50) with a blue cheese dip and a side of chips (€3.50) The food was ok. The BBQ sauce was delicious but for €8.50 I thought the wings were really overpriced. They tasted fresh but I've eaten nicer frozen wings (sorry, I have). The chips were home cut, thick and crunchy but had very little taste until I salted them heavily. Look I was starving so it was eaten and nothing was bad. €12 wasn't too bad for all this I guess but I wouldn't order it again. What really got me was the service; I was disappointed. Servers were taking drinks and/or food orders from tables but no one approached me with a menu so I went to the bar and eventually got one. My server was very nice, I asked about the weekly offers and he initially thought it only applied to lunch despite the offers not stipulating that but they allowed me to order which I appreciated. After my food was served I didn't see anyone. It was a busy night but I could see people were being waited on and it bothered me that no one asked if I wanted anything else, if everything was alright and I had to go to the bar to pay. Which was another wait. I checked in on Yelp and was glad to see a 10% discount offer which I have to say - that was a nice surprise. I asked the manager (I think) behind the bar if I could pay for everything and then asked him if I could use the discount towards my food and he asked for a receipt. I explained again that I was trying to pay so I'd need a receipt. He walked off leaving me a tad confused and as I waited unsure if he was coming back I could see him chatting with customers at the bar. Eventually, a barman kindly applied the discount, I paid my bill (I spent about €30) and he apologised for the wait which I appreciated. I understand it was a busy night but overall it was a disappointing experience. I'll definitely be back at The Strand - for lunch, and not for a while. And I appreciated the discount. read more

This is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are nice and well appointed. The staff is excellent. We really enjoyed dinner (and live music) in the bar where we had an excellent meal. The breakfast is well worth the additional charge, as the restaurant has spectacular views of the river. The layout of the hotel is really smart with doors separating different areas so that the rooms are extremely quiet. The location can't be beat - on the quiet side of the river, but a five minute walk to everything. There is easy parking which is discounted with validation and reachable from within the hotel. read more

Allot of curb appeal but coming up short on a few key details. From the outside, especially at night, this hotel looks like it could be in the epicentre of any major world city. The lobby has beautiful chandeliers and tasteful but contemporary sofas with a simple minimalist design to the front deak. The rooms looked just as stylish with bright contrasting colors and an airy feel. Situated acrross the river, its still a good location for visitors with just a short walk to all the main attractions and resturants in town. They offer free wi-fi and a full breakfast every morning. And while all that was enough to keep us satisfied, we would've been better rested had our bed not been so lumpy and hard. That stylish casual chair in the room was also surprisingly uncomfortable. We're noticed that hotels in Ireland don't offer an alarm clock either- nothing major since we used our cell phones for the time but maybe something to keep in mind if you're here for business. Also, we found the staff nice but they didn't go out of their way to help. We had several questions about booking a taxi and contacting the tour company we used for a day trip. The front desk staff seemed put off that we were asking them anything and we were more or less left to figure things out for ourselfs. All in all, I'd recommend staying here but keep these other points in mind, especially if you tend to rely on the staff for assistence. read more

This is a great luxury hotel for those looking for all the usual benefits that come with it: fast, free Wi-Fi, warm comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, etc. They also have 24/7 room service (which I didn't actually use) but a nice bonus for jetlagged Americans who can get themselves in trouble in Europe when we're used to nice hot food places being open late. Also - they have bathrooms with a separate shower and bath, which is also a nice unexpected bonus. Finally - there's a bus stop right outside the hotel that I took advantage of to get out to Bunratty. Not a requirement, but another nice perk. My one (admittedly rather specific) complaint is the gym. So the big perk is that it's a full functioning separate gym. Not the standard weight room with some cardio equipment like you'd expect. The benefit is that you basically get free membership to a gym which include a pool, spa, etc. The downside is that the gym is crowded with the regular members. I went down twice and was constantly waiting in the weight room for weights and even cardio equipment to free up. It's still a really nice quality hotel, but because my gym time is important to me, I'd probably look elsewhere for that one thing. However, that's admittedly specific. If that's not an important factor for you - this is probably one of the best luxury hotels around. read more

I stayed with my Girlfriend and my mom for 2 nights in the Strand and found everything but the restaurant to absolutely top notch. Perfect and beautiful location right on the Shannon River. King John's castle is a 5 minute walk along the river, downtown shopping is a 5 minute walk across the bridge, and the famous Milk District is just beyond that. Limerick has somewhat of a bad name across the country with the Irish due to a reputation of crime and drugs in the 80's and 90's but there was nothing out of the ordinary of any other city. Cliffs of Moher are only an hour drive from the hotel as well, the gym and the pool/spa underground is actually pretty phenomenal. Not too many of the kind in all of Ireland. Prices are according and rooms and bathrooms are both very spacious. Normal room comes with separate shower and bath which is always convenient. Highly recommend. read more

I am rating the hotel a one star due to the staff in bar and restaurant. The Terrace Bar was our preferred place to eat and drink if we where not going out for dinner. There was one particular man that was working each night in this location. If I used the terms to define his attitude as unprofessional, nasty, smug, rude they are not sufficient. Plus getting service was an exhausting task. I spent two vacations at the Strand and had to deal with this person. I won't do that again. I didn't write a bad review the first time I dealt with this guy because I figured he had a bad night, four months later the same or worse! He should not be working in the service industry, it's clearly not his calling nor does he enjoy it. Somewhat Tall, skinny, He said he was from the UK. Always working the terrace bar when we have been there. Terrible attitude!! I am from the US and will find other lodging when I return to Ireland. It was a little tricky finding the parking garage (had to park somewhere and have someone run inside to see where it was) but other than that the location was awesome and it was one of the nicest hotels we stayed at for our trip. Unfortunately, we stayed here probably the shortest of our trip (~7 hours!). Definitely would come back and would love to explore Limerick more! read more

Nice room with decent amenities. Refrigerators in rooms. For a hotel trying to be somewhat plush the beds could be much better. Bad mattresses but nice duvets. Good location on River with an easy walk to the action. The pool situation was no good though. Our kids were really looking forward to the pool and yet kids are barred from the pool after 7pm. Out all day? They're out of luck. Also, adult only in the spa tubs. This didn't sit well with a 14 and 16 year old. read more

AHHHH MUNSTER RUGBY GAME! Well, I didn't have a jersey, but damn did I fit in with the drunken Red Army fans all too well. With that said, I can say that the one night I actually used my hotel room, I found it to be okay. There wasn't anything of note, although I somehow ordered an executive room, which was relatively nice. Unfortunately I shared my floor with a huge wedding party and had plenty of wandering drunken Munster fans knocking on my door at all hours. Very nice hotel! The staff was very helpful and courteous to us through our visit. The rooms were spacious and clean. The A/C wasn't working for us but I think that was my mistake not the hotel's. We had a very noisy upstairs neighbor late at night, again not the hotel's fault... But they did make it up to us by including free parking which we would've had to pay otherwise. The breakfast buffet was good, nothing special. However the dinner was incredible! I had the 3 course selection and every bite was amazing! Also it is a shirt walk to the King John Castle so the location is quite convenient. read more

While no hotel is perfect (in my opinion), the Limerick Strand is a fantastic option. The location is lovely! The lobby area is modern and inviting. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are decorated and furnished with comfort and modern needs in mind. We were in Limerick for just two nights, but the Limerick Strand helped make our first visit very memorable. We will definitely be back to Limerick --- and will stay at the Limerick Strand if at all possible. read more

Ultra modern hotel just over the bridge from city center. Can walk to everything. Spend the extra 40 euros for a suite. Ask for a corner suite. Best 40 I ever spent. Huge room with a wrap around enclosed balcony over looking the river and the rolling greens. Truly an amazing comfortable room. Only weird thing was breakfast. Not one single wait staff gave us the time of day. No offer of coffee etc. read more
