Great location, great breakfast, great hosts. Close to the beginning of the cliffs trail and Gus O'Connors pub. Highly recommended.

The food was very good but have to be honest nothing memorable. If you're looking for a quiet dinner with very fresh local ingredients this is a good choice but would not go out of my way to eat here.

We somehow managed to get a last-minute booking...and arrived REALLY early. The staff was gracious and welcoming, and helped us to feel comfortable in the waiting area. They were even kind enough to get us an espresso martini for the wait. We did the 3 course Prix Fix menu, and added an additional appetizer. We ordered: Pan seared scallops: probably the best scallops I've ever eaten. Foie Gras: absolutely incredible, and with the gingerbread...a revelation! Classic Beef Carpaccio: delicious. Hereford Prime Rib Eye: This steak...beef in Ireland just tastes BETTER than it does here in the states. This steak was "my eyes rolled back in my head, and I wanted to lick the plate" good. Fillet of Irish Lamb: Again...meat just tastes better here. This lamb was perfectly prepared, tender, flavorful. We will both be dreaming about this for a long time. Warm Blackcurrant Souffle: Only my second souffle ever, and it was a memorable one. Sweet, tart, everything you could ask for. Orange and Strawberry Cheesecake: It tasted as incredible as it sounds. I'm a big cheesecake snob, and this was just incredible. All this, along with an amuse-bouche and a palate cleanser that were mind blowing...I definitely plan to eat at Oar Restaurant the next time we are in Ireland. (Which hopefully won't be too horribly long!)

Even with the Irish fog and rain, Doolin Views' light shines brightly. Sandra was a ray of sunshine in the midst of a rainy afternoon, providing shelter and sustenance to our travel weary group. I loved the layout of the rooms; each bearing the name of a famous Irish author. There were books by and pictures of the author and in the general housekeeping booklet, there was a brief history of them as well. I was upstairs in the W.B. Yates room. The large slanted windows allowed natural light to fill the room and show off the colours and design of the decor. The bed was spacious, and extremely comfortable, and the down comforter valiantly fought of the cold that was trying to creep into my bones. I also loved the bathroom area; quaint and modern at the same time. When we had rested and gotten the lay of the land from Sandra, we enjoyed some time playing chess and relaxing. It felt as though we were in a home away from home. This is the house that I would have built and decorated if I decided to live with some of my best friends in Ireland. In your room, you could pre-order what you wanted for breakfast in addition to the continental breakfast buffet that was available. You could list the time you wanted breakfast and the dish, and just show up downstairs in the morning. I ordered the melted cheese and toast, eggs and bacon. We were greeted in the morning with hot tea or coffee, while looking across the grasses all the way out to the waves crashing on the cliffs. On slightly warmer, less windy and rainy days, I think having breakfast outside would be quite the treat. I loved every minute of being at Doolin Views and was extremely gracious for Sandra's hospitality. My only regret was that we were only able to stay for one night, especially as the price was quite reasonable. It feels like the type of place where you could relax and fully recharge the batteries of your soul and make you ready to face the world. If your travels take you to Doolin, you would be well advised to spend some nights at Doolin Views.

We only stayed here one night, though. I really want to give this hotel 5 stars, but I'm torn. At about 9:30 pm, after taking a shower, my son was charging his Chromebook. All of a sudden, the fan shuts off, and both of our outlets are no longer working. There was no red light alerting us to a tripped outlet. My son rings the bell (which is what we were told to do in case of an emergency after hours), and no one came. After talking to our other family members, I learned that my parents' room also no longer has power. Now this is a huge problem, because he uses a CPAP machine, and he would not be able to use it without electricity. I also called the phone number on the list of instructions, and it did not connect me. I had other family members try this, and they also could not connect. We had no electricity for chargers and no fan. It was super hot in the room, even with the windows open. We ended up getting power about 6 am, but the fact remains that we were unable to contact anyone that night. On a better note, their complimentary breakfast was gorgeous and delicious. Eddie, our server, was wonderful. I would probably skip this hotel if I'm in the area again, but I don't regret staying here. I just wish we were able to have contacted someone that night and then we would have had a better night.
