What a place! This very small hotel, or rather guest house or even B&B was recommended to us by a guy sitting next to us on the plane. He was like: "you have to stay there!" - so we did.
We didn't reserve a room and didn't even call beforeand as we were traveling rather spontaneously. So on a rainy day at about 5pm we just walked-in. There was no one to be found which we first thought was weird. So we just went downstairs to look for a receptionist. Which we found. Kinda. She was more like the housekeeper, dressed in a nice suit.
As it was rather late we got a discount on the room. This place isn't cheap, that's for sure. But you get what you pay for: rooms with awesome views and a charming atmosphere. It's the cutest place I've stayed at. It's a very old house but nicely kept in form. The bathroom is very stylish, also old but just awesome. There was a big bathtub in the middle of the bathroom - and the soaps were from L'Occitane.
Upstairs there was a living room including an honesty bar. Just make yourself a drink and write it down, so they can charge you for it. I loved it! While we waited for our room to get ready for us (they didn't expect more guests that night) we were served tea and delicious sweets.
Also a very cute thing: while we were away for dinner (I recommend Vaughans Anchor Inn, not far away: http://www.yelp.com/biz/vaughans-anchor-inn-liscannor) the young lady went to our room to close the curtains, get the beds reads for us so we could just jump in and also put a good-night-chocolate on the pillow, nicely wrapped. What a surprise!
I also recommend getting breakfast at the Moy House. Delicious treats, such as a Salmon Bagel or the Full Irish, with freshly brewed coffee or freshly squeezed orange juice. And all of that in such a charming atmosphere and direct sea view. It's luxurious. I wouldn't hesitate for a second and book a room if I were in the region again. read more
