We then had the perfect dinner of local food at Roadford House where we walked along stonewalls past cows, horses, and sheep to the intimate dining room overlooking pastures. We said yes, that we just wanted to see it. He told us where to park and encouraged us to go upstairs to the restaurant "at least have a coffee while you're here". We looked about the incredibly maintained grounds. Checked out the back of the property. Looked over the pro shop. Then went upstairs to the restaurant bar. The bartender was VERY professional but also kind. When I asked him sheepishly if I could keep one of the little cloth coasters, he said sure and "take this too" as he tossed me a pen. We went back to the pro shop looking for a sweatshirt. The extremely gracious employee in the shop told me that they'd be in the gift shop. He said it was closed. He made a call and said "she's opening it up". Then he walked us through the property to take us to the gift shop. I love my sweatshirt. What a fabulous little surprise on our adventure.

Sandra was a ray of sunshine in the midst of a rainy afternoon, providing shelter and sustenance to our travel weary group. I loved the layout of the rooms; each bearing the name of a famous Irish author. There were books by and pictures of the author and in the general housekeeping booklet, there was a brief history of them as well. I was upstairs in the W.B. Yates room. The large slanted windows allowed natural light to fill the room and show off the colours and design of the decor. The bed was spacious, and extremely comfortable, and the down comforter valiantly fought of the cold that was trying to creep into my bones. I also loved the bathroom area; quaint and modern at the same time. When we had rested and gotten the lay of the land from Sandra, we enjoyed some time playing chess and relaxing. It felt as though we were in a home away from home. This is the house that I would have built and decorated if I decided to live with some of my best friends in Ireland. In your room, you could pre-order what you wanted for breakfast in addition to the continental breakfast buffet that was available. You could list the time you wanted breakfast and the dish, and just show up downstairs in the morning. I ordered the melted cheese and toast, eggs and bacon. We were greeted in the morning with hot tea or coffee, while looking across the grasses all the way out to the waves crashing on the cliffs. On slightly warmer, less windy and rainy days, I think having breakfast outside would be quite the treat. I loved every minute of being at Doolin Views and was extremely gracious for Sandra's hospitality. My only regret was that we were only able to stay for one night, especially as the price was quite reasonable. It feels like the type of place where you could relax and fully recharge the batteries of your soul and make you ready to face the world. If your travels take you to Doolin, you would be well advised to spend some nights at Doolin Views.

The Armada is deceptively large with a big pub and plenty of restaurant rooms. We had a drink in the bar and dinner and a breakfast in their restaurants. The food was exceptional at both meals. What a sweet place to relax and decompress from whatever stresses you. Go and enjoy their peaceful hotel.
