The Lahinch Lodge isn't bad, but it's nothing special either. We didn't have the issues the other reviewer talked about. Our shower was very hot. The only problem was the children running down the hall in the morning, but that isn't the hotel's fault. The rooms are clean, but a bit outdated as far as the furniture goes. The paint and carpet look new, but the furniture is old. The map on the back of the door is actually from when the hotel was named something else. Breakfast was decent and the staff are friendly. For the price, I'd say it's a fine place. Lehinch isn't exactly a top tourist destination, so you're not going to find 5 star accommodation there. If you're on a budget, this is fine.

Checking in and service from the staff was lovely, but otherwise our experience was really poor. First our room smelled like spoiled milk. As they were fully booked there was no other room option, and it was explained to us that this was a residual smell as they had recently cleaned the carpets. Next, an evening shower was at best luke warm with barely enough water pressure to rinse the soap. We were told that this was just an issue with timing and it would be better later in the evening. We were happy enough to ignore these things since we weren't expecting a five star experience and we were paying less than €100/night. The whole experience was capped off when my wife couldn't eat her eggs in the morning because there was a large hard piece of red melted plastic in her fried egg. She let the staff know and their response was "oh." I'm not sure how this place has such good ratings on bookings.com or other review sites as is touted all over the hotel. But, again, maybe we just got really (really) unlucky.

Well, when we arrived I was told to just park on the sidewalk across the street from the hotel. Not exactly, my idea of a safe, secure parking situation. Once we got inside, the room was nice and clean, no problems with the property. But the issues continued the next morning. Around 11am I went out to put some bags in my car before check-out. I walked back to the entrance and the front door was locked. So now I'm standing there locked out of the entrance of the hotel I'm staying in at 11am on a Saturday morning. So I knock on the door and no answer. Finally, another guest leaves and I sneak in to my own hotel, but my waiting didn't end there. I went to the desk to check out and there was nobody. So I stood there and waited again until finally a staff member happened to notice me. When I was finally given the consideration of checking out, I asked the staff member why the entrance to the hotel would be locked at 11am. I was told they keep the door locked for security, which was kinda weird since we were in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere in Ireland. Anyway, the staff member then seemed upset at the question and responded "Why, is there a problem?" Not exactly what I would classify as cordial customer service. It felt more like I was going to get beat up if I opened my mouth again. So at that point, I just cut my losses and let them figure out why it would be weird for the entrance of a hotel/restaurant business to be locked at 11am on a Saturday morning when they're serving brunch. I wouldn't recommend staying here, unless you have no other option.
