I had stopped at this coffee shop for a quick cup of coffee around 7:00 am. There were numerous parking spots in front of the coffee shop. I noticed it was the only place open amidst the entire plaza. When I came in, there were a few other guests in front of me. They had already placed their orders and so I spent my time looking at their merchandise. The coolest part was their own keurig cups that they make off of their own brand. I went to the front, and wasn't too sure what to order. I ended up ordering the ripper, assuming that their iced drinks are really good. When I ordered it, I thought it was okay. It wasn't particularly strong that'll give me the intense caffeination, but it wasn't extremely sweet that'll prevent me from drinking it. It was heavily sprinkled with cinnamon on top, and that was where I realized I should have ordered a different drink instead. Been coming to Rad for years. Coffee is pretty good. They've got a bunch of different specialty flavors as well, but nowadays in my older age I enjoy the more standard stuff. Had a few of the cereal chillers and they're not bad - I wouldn't say they taste exactly like the cereal they're going for but close enough. I'd say of the ones I've tried, Captain Crunch or peanut butter crunch would be my recommendations. Husband likes to get the crazy strong drinks, great white and the wolf. These drinks are hella strong. I tried the great white once and had major caffeine anxiety so I'd say unless you're somebody who's used to consuming large amounts of caffeine, be warned. Parking is a pain in DT Upland in general but it's definitely a coffee staple worth checking out. read more

Was walking around downtown Upland and wanted a little refreshment. Enter Rad Coffee. It was later in the day so I wasn't looking for caffeine because I actually wanted to be able to sleep that night. I saw they also offer teas and lemonades, so that sounded perfect. It was fairly busy, even for the evening, and there was only one employee. She was rocking it, though, efficiently balancing taking orders and making drinks. The place is pretty cool with lots of stickers and skateboards. Punk-rock and spooky themed drinks. I decided to try the Mad Tiki which is a blend of lemonade, passion fruit, pomegranate and a hint of ginger. It was heavenly--a drink worthy of transporting you to a tropical paradise! This is the original RAD coffee location in the heart of downtown Upland. It breaks my heart to only give them 3 stars. Don't get me wrong, it's some of the best coffee around and that's why they get a solid 3 stars for the coffee alone. I've frequent many other RAD coffee locations, but this one is just a one off for me. The missing 2 stars? Well that is directed towards the layout of the store and staff itself. Staff here is not friendly at all, as if they are annoyed with the crowd that keeps them busy. Yes there is always a long line out the door, but the coffee is so good! The bathroom is closed off, not allowed to be used by customers. Really?! There is no place to sit inside other than 2 tiny benches by the entrance, which is usually always occupied by people waiting for their orders to be called. And yesssss pay attention to your name being called because if not, your order will just sit there at the front counter. Side note, don't order the cold brew here. It's awful. Everything else on the menu, even the lemonade is legit. If you want to stick around, there is seating on one of the many benches outside (not part of the coffee shop). I asked a returning customer in line for a recommendation and I ordered the Frankenstein Matcha. Worst customer service I've ever had. Two blonde girls. One with piercings. She was rude, and they seemed annoyed we even came in. My young daughter said "wow it smells good in here" and they said nothing. Then didn't greet us at all. The other blonde looked on the verge of tears. Located right next to Cosmic Bakery, Rad Coffee looks nondescript from the outside, but inside is a different story. There's a rack of treats on one side and opposite it is merchandise customers can buy. The place looks like it's busy all the time, what with the long lines. Although there are no real tables and chairs to sip your coffee, there are benches by the entrance. It can get a bit crowded and chaotic but it just adds to the vibe. I tried the Horchata-gato, which is their take on affogato, and it sure is tasty. The decaf espresso shots did a lot to tame the sweetness. But I think I will ask them to use less sugar next time. I love that they can customize drinks! It's time-consuming but it makes for a better experience. I'm definitely trying the other coffees next time. This small business also has a location in Covina, which is closer to me. A coffee shop that is this unique and whose staff that sincerely wants to make customers happy deserves our full-throated support. read more

My wife wanted a coffee on our way back from Ontario, so the second she saw Rad Coffee pop up on Yelp we knew we needed to come and give this place a try. From the second I walked in, I fell in love with all of the old punk and hardcore flyers hanging up around the place featuring bands like The Misfits, Descendants, Black Flag, and Refused. They had old show fliers covering pretty much every inch of available wall space and that's something that'll bring me back in the future. Another cool thing about this place is that since I'm not a coffee drinker, I was able to try some lemonade on the menu and that also had me stoked. I ended up ordering the "Zombie" lemonade which they describe as "Rad Coffee's Zombie Lemonade is not your average lemonade. This chilling drink is made with a blend of lemonade and blue orange syrup, giving it a uniquely delicious flavor and an eerie green color. Sip on this refreshing beverage and feel like a zombie that has risen from the dead with every sip." I'll be honest here, I don't think the lemonade was a game changer or the best thing I ever had, but it was thirst quenching and tasted pretty good so it still gets a thumbs up from me. Overall, Rad Coffee has one of the coolest aesthetics I've seen in a coffee shop, a super friendly staff, and a large drink selection to quench anyones thirst. Service and speed was amazing but i went in at about 4:45 today and the lady was very rude off the bat. I simply asked if i didn't want one ingredient if i could remove it from my drink. And with attitude she responded that " yeah i guess, you can just make a custom one" and I just said thank you and began to order because as a barista myself i understand in the heat it can get exhausting. Not your everyday coffee, but definitely enjoy coming here when I'm in the area. It's a small shop with no seating, but the vibe is great. I usually get frappes, I've tried the Frankenstein drink and the peanut butter crunch drink. The black whip cream looks cool, but it does stain your lips a bit.
