This is my first ever Yelp review. I normally wouldn't bother but this needs to be shared. DO NOT STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE. Obnoxious dude behind the counter (the white guy.) I first walked up to the counter, and a la an 80's movie douchebag warning the waiter to make his milkshake extra thick, he sneers, "They're two people ahead of you." I say ok and wander around the store. I make my way back up to the counter and the other sales guy says to me, "Yes?" I say I'm interested in a rack system and I have my car pulled up into the shop so you could take a look at my options. I can come back another time for the install. Douchebag-guy butts in saying, "We need to start on another car before yours." I'm taken aback. And offended. I shot back at him, "I"m asking him a question. About a roof rack. But I can leave." Which I did. This is a friggin roof rack store. Am I supposed to beg or cow tow for this ass-wipe to do his job. Or more importantly to display common courtesy. These guys really helped me out. I found them through Google and drove by, no appointment, with my Frankenrack that was about to blow off of my car. I was ready for someone to make me feel like an idiot for serious mis-installation -- I deserved it -- but not only didn't the Rack Solid guys not give me grief, they took the entire thing apart, found some key missing parts and reassembled it for me -- on the spot. I now have a completely solid rack. My suggestion: if you're thinking about installing your rack yourself but have the slightest doubt about its solidity, don't take the risk: these guys are pros, and very cool ones at that. read more

These guys are great. After doing days of online research on bike racks and speaking with both the dealership I bought my car from as well as multiple sports stores I came across these guys. They literally have any mount/rack combo you can imagine and will give you the most comprehensive and best advice you can get (their advice on best config actually saved me money) . I even went back to adjust a few things that were totally aesthetic and they did it happily for free. These guys rock...ask for Chris, he was super helpful! He carefully explained all my options, installed it himself, and even stuck around a good 45 min past closing to show me how to operate and adjust the rack (no small feet considering how mechanically challenged I am). Solid experience. After I brilliantly tried driving out of a Bike stores garage with my fiance's new bike atop the car ............ It, the towers and rack ripped off and ended up on the ground. Needless to say this was not a "user serviceable situation" Rack Solid actually located one of only two replacement kits for my model that were left and had it shipped. On the cusp of just ordering a roof rack off Amazon, the existing Yelp reviews convinced me to head down to Racksolid. Their installation rate was extremely reaonsable (vs. an entire afternoon of youtubing how to do such a task) and they had a 10% discount which offset any out of state tax saving. But, the real value came when things went wrong. For whatever reason, the rack I had installed would whistle when I went over 55. The guys at Racksolid gave some advice on how to eliminate the noise but when that didn't work out, they straight swapped it out for a different model. Can you imagine trying to do the same thing via Amazon??!?! read more

First off, I don't Yelp alot. But seeing as how awesome this place is I had to create an account. Anyways, I bought a Thule 575 (pronounced Thu-Le, lol) snowboard rack from Sports basement. Problem was that the stock bolts that came with it didn't fit my stock crossbars on my car (BMW). I went to the common places you would normally go for this stuff, REI, Sports Basement, Sports Authority.. nothing. Then a very kind worker from REI recommended this place. I mean, not to put down REI and the rest but when it comes to snowboard racks or bicycle racks, THIS place is THE place. Nick threw me a real solid yesterday. I brought my bike rack in that I had broken a couple years ago but never brought back to get fixed. Essentially I had the strap wrong and my bike fell off and with it tore the lock right out of the rack too. Ordered a roof rack for a road trip I was preparing for a month out. They charged me for the kit, told me they would call me when it arrived to schedule installation. After 3 weeks and multiple phone calls inquiring on its tracking, they FINALLY realized that they never placed my actual order. Something that could have been resolved the last three times I called if they hadn't brushed me off. He said they finally placed the order and would be another 2 weeks for it to arrive. So to make my departure deadline I asked them if they could call the vendor back and expedite the order since they never placed it in the first place. He told me I would have to pay the expedite fee. After the manager was rude he told me if I didn't want it to call the vendor back and cancel it directly through them. SO I DID. But Rack Solid decided to replace the order after I cancelled it without my permission. They are STILL refusing to return my $600 for a kit that was never installed and I never got to use on my road trip. All staff was rude and nasty beyond belief on the phone, like the not ordering was my fault and that I was outrageous for even suggesting they expedite it to make my trip when I placed my order weeks ago. read more

If you need service for your Yakima rack I definitely recommend this place and in particular Sasha who provided extremely good customer service. The problem was the locking tumbler of the skewer which was sticking either in the locked or open position. Sasha replaced the skewer and tumbler which did the trick. Awesome shop and guys. Land Rover try and make it so you have to buy a factory rack, but Rack Solid were able to do a custom-fit Whispbar rack which looks gorgeous and is super-quiet and aerodynamic. Expensive, but cheaper and nicer than the factory rack. read more

Every time I go to this place I get a supreme customer service experience. The guys who work here are knowledgeable and personable. I never feel over sold when I leave but I always seem to come back for more. I recently bought a Thule system with a bike mount and a cargo box, it was a little on the pricey end but now that I have had the system for a couple months I am really glad I made the investment. After downsizing to a small car for city living I upsized my cargo box. It makes weekend camping trips possible in my tiny hatchback.
