I purchased a "supercar experience" from RacingAdventures.com. It was postponed a couple times due to weather and lack of participants, so four months later, we finally arrive at the site of the race track in Hitchcock,TX. We are the only people there besides David, the owner, his 3 workers, Jason, Robert and I do not know the name of the 4th, and then Marie, who signed us in. Jason is the only person from this company that actually tried to help us and make the situation as best as he could once it turned awful. So, none of this complaint is towards him. I bought the experience to drive a Cobra Mustang. We get there, the car is a kit-car, not even a real Cobra. Whatever -- we're still here to drive it. We buy the mandatory insurance policy, however, never receive any information on it. I don't even know what the policy is, all he did was charge us $50.00 and never provided any actual documentation for what we just paid for, even though it's been requested multiple times. It's now four days later, still no documents. He also had the drier sign a waiver. We've also never received the signed copy of this even though we have asked for four days. He did send me a blank one, but I don't have a clue if he made changes to it since we signed it on Saturday. I've aksed for our signed waiver, no avail. This transpired April 27th, it is now May 1st, still nothing.
I have the entire day from the time we got there until it ended on video on my GoPro. Everything was fine; no warning signs of what was coming up for us. Max gets in the car after they went over everything with him. Keep in mind this entire thing is recorded on my GoPro. Max drove the car for two laps, slow speeds, maybe 50mph even though this was supposed to be a fast/race car super experience. On the start of the 3rd lap, on my video, white smoke starts coming out the back of the car. He goes around the curve of the track and the car dies. He can't go any further. It had been 3 minutes of actual drive time, 2 full laps, (we paid for 4). They go pick him up, and David's employee, on video, says "They'll probably just give you another car to finish your race." So we're thinking ok, cool, he can just drive a different car. Few minutes later, David, the owner, comes over and IMMEDIATELY starts telling Max that he burnt out the clutch. Keep in mind, he'd only been driving for 3 minutes, he went maybe 1 mile in distance. It's a SMALL track. We have 21 cars, trucks, sports cars, classic cars, boats, motorcycles, RV's, etc. WE KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A STANDARD CAR. Max has over 20 years experience driving fast cars that are stick shift. At the moment this happened, David said we could call our own certified ford mechanic to come assess the car because we did not believe that a 3 minute drive on maybe 1 mile, would cause a clutch to burn out. We never received a report on the condition of the car BEFORE or AFTER we drove it. How would we ever know it was caused by the exact way Max was driving? It could have been in bad condition when he started driving and it went out while he was driving. On their website they even state that ONE day of driving will not tear up your car. He drove the car for three minutes! After we said we would call our own mechanic right then, DAVID CALLED THE POLICE ON US! Said we were trespassing! Even though we still had belongings in the Cobra, all of our stuff was still on the observing deck. We were PAYING CUSTOMERS. I could not believe this was happening. We have the police call slip as no report was ever made because we left. David canceled the call to the police. I was at the police station yesterday discussing this with the sergeant and police chief.
From Saturday until Tuesday I called David's company number listed on his website to ask for a refund because we never finished the experience, and now this man was trying to say we owe all of this money. He screened my calls and would not answer my phone number. I finally called from a different number, he answered immediately. I did this twice on two separate days when he would not answer my calls. On two separate phone calls April 30, David tells us it was $25,000.00 for the clutch! And down time of the car!, then he says it's only $600.00. We requested the same waiver and insurance documents, he never sent them, we requested the cars computer report that he swore up down would be available to us, never provided, never provided any actual mechanic's report to us. He then proceeds to send me an email telling me to stop calling him and that he was going to just run the card he had on file for $1,5000 to repair the clutch. Without any permission from us, without any actual proof there was anything wrong with the car. I have called this man many times and he has now stopped answering the phone completely.
I asked for a refund because he has made this entire experience awful. This is from his own website. We paid for a driving experience and we received the most awful customer service. read more
