My love and I were exploring the Forest Glen area on a lazy Saturday to check out a neighborhood rummage sale, and we were getting hungry. We had been to Rabbits Bar and Grill (located on Foster near Elston) before with friends, and we were looking to revisit for lunch and a beer. We arrived around 1:30 PM to a practically deserted place, though a trickle of peeps eventually found their way there. Rabbits has an outdoor patio and indoor tables, but we chose to belly up to the bar. The woman behind the bar was a one-woman-band during our visit, serving our drinks and ice water, and taking care of our food orders. Our food took a few minutes to prepare on the grill, but it was worth the wait. I ordered the Texas Burger and it was enormous, messy and satisfying with bacon, cheese, grilled onion, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and BBQ sauce. The burger comes with fries or tots, and I went with tots that were perfectly crunchy. Many items on the menu come with fries or tots, or you can get either side for a measly $1 upcharge if you order a beef sandwich. Overall, the pricing of the food seems very reasonable, as the most expensive item is the Texas Burger ($10.45). My love enjoyed her mini fish sandwiches, an order of two cod sliders and a side of fries. Previously I have enjoyed the Joe's beef and onion, which is sort of like a Philly cheesesteak with grilled onions, sweet peppers and cheese on garlic bread. They have an extensive beer list with interesting craft beers. I tried The Claddagh Irish Stout by Phase Three Brewing, and if you are into trying a beer you've never heard of before, you might just be in luck here at Rabbits. read more

Friendly neighborhood dive bar with way better-than-average bar grub, excellent beer selection, relaxed vibe and fair prices. Don't play the jukebox during Wheel of Fortune, the regulars will get cranky. Evening bartender - I think her name is Leanne - is very attentive and accommodating. read more

Been here many times and if you like local dive bars this is your place. Friendly staff and good food. Just understand that your bartender also makes your food most of the time so food takes awhile. Beer list can be confusing as it rotates faster than you can read them but focus on the bottom for the type of beer you want then look for the right color. Trivia on Tuesday at 7:30, very relaxed. If you win,$20 off your tab, but no cost to play,so why not!?! Also $2 hot dogs and PBR on Tuesday. Lots of specials Thursday is patty melt day and every first Saturday is biscuits and gravy. read more

I used to frequent Rabbits but it is so understaffed. They have two sizable rooms and there was often one server who also served as the fry cook. During the evening of a big game the main room was crowded, but the TV in the other room was turned off. It is high up and a ladder is needed. When I asked if it could be turned on I received a nasty response. She told me she was too busy. And she was, but could she have said it nicely? Knowing there would be a game that evening, could she have had some foresight and turned it on earlier in the afternoon? Could she have at least given me a positive sympathetic look or apology? Could her boss by a remote control? And speaking of the boss, I never met him. But I see quite a few reviews here saying he and his wife are racist. I don't doubt that. The guy has a memorial to Guantanamo Bay, where Muslim men were captured without evidence and without a fair trial and waterboarded and tortured in myriad other ways. The food, the drinks, the prices, the atmosphere are all fine, but I go to a dive bar to be around humanity, but to proudly display a memorial to a stain on American history, there are plenty other dive bars around. Go to the Cabin, or the shock Shop, or Paddy Macs or plenty of dive bars closer. Don't taint your evening by stuffing the pockets of a Trumper. read more

Omg came here for an outside option for the bears game! Very accommodating made room for us! So much fun it's like we were hanging w family! Please come to support them super safe!! read more

The chicken sandwich is a favorite!! Mary is a great cook. Don't sleep on the food here. If Mary's cooking - get it! Also, she does some great game day specials - nachos, etc. Good snacks. Good beefs, good sausages, and the best chicken mozzarella bacon sandwich on a hoagie. read more

I have to give a shout out to Rabbits. You know this pandemic has been tough but I love that my favorite cozy neighborhood bar has risen to the occasion! They have really good food and a nice variety of beer but I love that they are so Covid smart! First, their warm outdoor dining is great! And warm outdoor dining is hard to find these days but the heater that they hooked up is literally the most impressive I have ever seen! It's huge! Also they demand masks upon entrance and this leaves for a very safe and warm Chicago outdoor dining experience. In short, their pivot has been impressive and they even have managed to make their warm Chicago outdoor bar and dining cozy! I've gotten to know the owners Joe and Mary and they are just nice and good people as well. Joe is quick with a joke and Mary is just warm to the folks she talks to. In short, going there feels like a slice of home and these people are the epitome of small business owners you want to support. I highly recommend heading over. Great for a date in a warm Chicago outdoor dining space! You won't regret it! read more

Cute local dive bar with a medium sized lit covered patio! There's a pool table and 2 dart boards. The pool table is $1 and requires quarters. A pint of craft beer will run you a mere $4! There's a variety of hard liquor and rotating taps--all for a great price. The credit card minimum is $10. Also, there's a jukebox that you can select songs with via smartphone app. When you have had too much to drink you can order mozzarella sticks, jalapeño poppers, and other fried foods read more

If you wanna do the senior citizen thing, Rabbits in Chicago is for you! 3rd time had to leave in the middle of a game - this time a championship college football game - because this clown boy behind the bar wouldn't turn off the jukebox during the game because of their senior citizen regulars. read more

This place is just perfectly "divey" and friendly, exactly what the Dr. ordered on a Friday afternoon. I have now been here several times and each time its feels like its the same crowd that tries to buy you shots and drinks. Its fantastic! Everyone raves about the food, so look forward to trying that soon. Thank you Rabbits for being the perfect place to stop taking yourself seriously after work... read more

The owner is definitely a jerk. He was very unfreindly and rude- came off as racist and homophobic. The bar itself seems decent in terms of its drinks and food but service is very important to me. If any member of the staff (especially the owner) make you feel unwelcome or disrespected, it doesn't matter how good their product is- the experience will be negative. I will NEVER return to this establishment and I will not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Pretty good food. Slow service. Bar was comlpetely full but only one waitress. With so many out of work why can't they hire more? read more

Great place, affordable and one thing I can tell you Mary will make you feel at home. I will be forever a fan, due to the fact that I left my bag last night here when I had a drink with CArlos a good friend of mine called last night and nobody had touch my bag where I left it. Great hideout on the NW Side! It's pretty divey on the inside complete with silver "barchairs". You know like kinda modern looking yet old silver pleather stools/ chairs? They have an awesome selection of brews, definitely some stuff you won't see anywhere else around town & very fair prices. Small grill in the corner & the bartender does all the cooking. We tried burgers & fried pickles.. nothing to write home about but definitely decent! Be prepared to drink a lot of water. Service was great and this joint leans more towards a local clientele... get dat did read more

What do you do if you've just run through the woods for an hour and you feel sweaty, dirty, and gross? You go to Rabbit's for some beer and deep fried foods. Rabbit's is a nice little blue collar type bar. There is a kick ass jukebox, a pool table, and lots of surly regulars with hearts of gold. Even though I looked a mess, people still offered to buy me and my friend beers, cheeseburgers, and even a condo. Thank you, Rabbit's, for a nice ending to an interesting run. read more

So, I can go down to Wicker Park and pay $8.50 for a beer, or I can hang out here with a couple of buddies, each of us drink as much beer as we can safely handle, and spend about $40 total. Yeah, tough decision. Seriously, this is the quintessential neighborhood bar. Pool table, darts, trivia on Tuesdays, cheap drinks, and surprisingly good burgers. The locals are occasionally a bit rambunctious but they mean well. Save your money and just come here if you are in the neighborhood already. read more

I've driven past this place practically my whole adult life. I always wondered what type of place this was & what knd of shennanigans took place inside. I would always see people walking out of the joynt with beads around their neck, man-hugging each other, noise makersin hand...an this was on any given weekday during the year! I finally had a chance to check it out. The place is a regular hangout for an old gradeschool friend of mine & we recently reconnected over a few beers here. I was greeted by the warmest, friendliest, most accomodating group of regulars that I have EVER experienced as a newbie. If glitz & glamour is your scene, don't go here. This place is for the non- pretentious, down to earth, easy to please beer drinker. read more

I only gave this bar one star, because of the beer selection and the female bartender/cook. She is always friendly, in a not chat your ear off type of way. Food is better than descent. The place definitely lacks "ambiance". But I feel what completely ruins it is the owner. I've never met someone so arrogant & full of themselves, nor such a rude owner. I'd expect an owner to be friendly, and want to make you feel welcomed, this guy does the opposite. It's a shame, I was so excited about this place when I first moved into the neighborhood 5yrs ago, because it's only a block away from my house. I was expecting to be here at least twice a month. I've been to this bar maybe a handful of times, ONLY because I kept thinking it'd be better on my next visit. I'm done trying to like this bar. It shouldn't be this difficult to enjoy a beer at a bar, walking distance or not. read more

I've been here for Hawk's games after work, cause it's close and I get out pretty late/when they usually start anyway. Good vibes, good cheap drinks/beer and I don't feel like everyone's looking at me funny cause I'm not a regular. Super relaxed place, I wish I came here more often. Also stopped in today to see if they had any pop I could buy 'cause I forgot to order some with lunch order from a pizza place nearby. The owner was super awesome and gave me a 2 liter he had from a previous order himself, just threw it in with my order of a cup of pop. I love neighborhood places, good friendly people with an awesome work/service ethic. I know it looks a little weary from the outside, but the bathrooms are clean and bright, and there's a jukebox. What more could you need? read more

28 check-ins here and I still haven't written a review? What the hell is wrong with me?! What can I say about a bar that seems to have the simple basics of drinking and bar food nailed? DRINKS: Dozens of domestic and imports both bottled and on tap. The rotation here is fantastic. Sure, they have their staples, but the fact that I can walk in and try something new each & every week excites me! The cocktails are made pretty near perfect... Enough alcohol that I can taste it in my drink but not too much that I'm makin' the stank face while sipping. FOOD: 1/2 lb burgers are to die for!!! Typical bar apps like stix, 'shrooms, poppers & more. Pizza oven for frozens. They even have a salad for those who wish to keep it light & simple. Oh and they serve breakfast Monday-Saturday... So much food for only $5!!! PRICING: Two words - FAIR & REASONABLE STAFF: The bartenders here aren't all cookie-cutter images of each other. In fact, they all have very distinct & unique personalities that keep their regulars (and newbies who become regulars) coming back for more. You've got your classic wise-crackin' "bitchy" type, your extra flirty type, your down to earth friendly type, your reminds-me-of-my-sister type and there's even one with an adorable accent! Regardless of who's serving you up a cold one, you're sure to be welcomed warmly & served quickly. ATMOSPHERE: Dive style bar with tons of FRIENDLY regulars! Whether it's your first time or fiftieth time, you're sure to make good conversation with the couple on your left or the group of city workers on your right. AMENITIES: Pool table, dart boards, internet jukebox, karaoke on select Saturday nights (look for the sign on the front of the building telling you whether it's going on that weekend or not) and 4 LARGE flat screens with three smaller flat screens at each of the three tables showing whatever sports are in-season at the time! HONORABLE MENTION: I don't about you but an ill-stocked bathroom drives me bonkers! The bathrooms HERE are always clean and I've never walked in and not had toilet paper to wipe my ass with, soap to wash my hands with or towels to dry them with. So... Next time your in the area, stop in before heading home! Shit, even if you're not in the area, come by for a burger and a pint - You won't be sorry! read more

Good food, good beer, decent ambiance - but it's a dive bar, so don't expect a ton. My boyfriend says they pour an excellent Guinness (see Andrew H.'s review), and they had my favorite Stiegl grapefruit radler, so I was really happy! The drinks are also a great price. We also ordered food and a few drinks. I was mostly pleased with my order - I had a burger with onion rings, and everything was delicious...except for the patty. Maybe it was just the shape of it, but it didn't taste super fresh. The burger also fell apart a little as I ate it, but the onion rings were the best I've ever had. Waitstaff is nice and does a good job. I'll come back! read more

The neighborhood this bar is located in is most certainly not Sauganash. It is Forest Glen. I have no idea where Yelp gets the neighborhood information from, but they are wrong way too often. Anyways, this bar is a decent "dive" (as some people may call it), although I just look at it as a regular "old school" Chicago bar. The million dollar rehabbed theme bars have ruined the bar scene in this city. This place needs to live on. read more

Good sandwiches and good beer make any afternoon a good one. This bar is the perfect out-of-the-way place to enjoy craft beer from all over the region. Not only is it good craft beer, it is well-priced craft beer. It's a nice enough place to kill time waiting for a bus, or to kick back after work. Sometime, I'll have to get breakfast before work, as the food I enjoy after work is quite delicious. I'm swinging by after work today. read more

They pour an excellent pint of Guinness! It was important to lead off with that very particular feedback because of how many places don't seem to actually know how to do this in a city with a prevalent Irish heritage. The fact that these delicious pints are only $5 is even more reason to have more than one. This is a regular Monday night place for myself and a few friends after teaching bagpipes and drums at the Irish American Heritage Center a couple blocks away. Whether we come hungry for any of the tasty yet inexpensive fare, or just thirsty for the excellent and nicely priced draught selection, Rabbit's never disappoints. read more

My husband and I brought our friend from out of town here tonight as a recommendation that it was a great northwest side Chicago bar..we wanted to have a few drinks and a nice time. Our friend was very wrong. We had a bartender who was extremely rude from the start named Anne ..then her friend who was not working there but who was verbally abusive to me. She literally pounded on the bathroom door when I was in there and HARRASSED me when I ordered a tequila drink called a paloma saying" do you know where you are you idiot ordering a drink like that " etc..and she went on for awhile that another patron said "I'm sorry you had to deal with that" But the bartender who was clearly her friend continued on after we ordered food etc. Being just as rude. We ordered food, played music and pool and left As this was not what I think of when I think of the northwest side of the city. I will not be back here. Lastly I asked for a second glass of wine and Ann said "we're out of pinot grigio" Many other great bars near by where you will be welcomed in and not treated like sh$% read more

Rabbits is okay. My co- workers and I order from Rabbits for lunch from time to time. I am not a fan of their burgers the patties taste frozen so I usually go for the wings. The wings do not come with celery and you do have to request it if you want it and the blue cheese dressing tastes weird. The mac and cheese bites are really good too. I've only ever had one drink at Rabbits and it was a long island. It wasn't special. All its a local watering hole that has food next door to my job so on occasion I don't mind ordering from here when I am at work and need a quick bite for lunch, other than that nah. read more
