    Curry Wings

Vaughan's pub is awesome! I have been going here for many years. Have had such nice memories with friends and family here. Anne, Diane, Sinead, and the whole crew do an awesome job. The food is always great. They have a good rewards program too. If you like authentic Irish food highly recommend Vaughan's pub! The chicken wings and steak sandwiches are some of the best in the city. I am obsessed with their cheeseburger, sliders and french fries too. The chicken sandwich and cheeseburgers are great also. Honestly, I have never had a bad meal here. My favorite chicken wing flavor is the curry dipped in blue cheese. If I had a dying wish meal that would be included. All their chicken wing flavors are great! Highly recommend Vaughan's pub. Always good weekly specials and beer on tap!

Hearty food that'll stick to your ribs. I'd say Vaughan's does capture the vibe of being in an Irish pub/restaurant in, well, in Ireland. We typically go on Sundays for lunch so it seems to be a more mellow atmosphere than let's say, a Friday night. I've tried a variety of the items off their menu and I would say that my favorites are the fish and chips, the corned beef (full dinner and sandwich) and steak sandwich. Friendly service each and every time and the locals are usually talking about Ireland or going back to Ireland. I've kissed the Blarney Stone so I'd love to do that again. In the meanwhile, I'll come back to Vaughn's and pretend that I'm in Killarney.

Found the perfect neighborhood spot! Started to come here after my son's soccer practice for dinner and the food is amazing! Diana is so attentive and even though I've been there 3 times, she remembers my son's team, my drink and the dressing I take on my salad! She also remembered that my son does indeed like the onions on his food! Highly recommend!!

I scanned the QR code and went to the bathroom. As I walked back there, I noticed there were 4 open spots at the bar and there were 6 2-top tables set up, which was confusing because there was a 45 minutes wait. Walking back from the bathroom I thought I would ask the bartender if the seating at the bar was also reserved by through the waitlist. I walked up ( did not attempt to sit down as that part of the bar was not clean) and the bartender started rudely saying "have you spoken to the host " I said yes but I had a question, and she continuously said " you have to speak to the host." I told her that I just had a question for her then she rudely said again "sometimes we use this as seating so-rry." My partner and I decided to leave after that. I had never been treated that way in my life. I open my mouth to say something and I couldn't because I was rudely interrupted. I felt like I was hurried out of the area. After being here countless times before and exploring the menu with friends and family, I don't think I will ever come back as this left a bad taste in my mouth. It's hard to go back when you feel you were discriminated against. My partner and I felt like we were that night as the attitudes and behaviors from the bartender and hostess were rude.

After leaving the symphony, we wanted somewhere nearby to grab a meal and have a good conversation, so we ended up at Miller's Pub at 134 S. Wabash. My colleague had made a reservation, but honestly, it didn't seem necessary, you can easily walk in. Miller's Pub is a longtime Chicago staple, and we were seated quickly. The space is much larger than it appears, with a classic Irish pub feel and an antique charm that gives it a lot of character. Our server was enthusiastic, attentive, and very accommodating throughout the night, which we appreciated. Food-wise, we ordered a variety of dishes. I kept it simple with a salad topped with carrots and chicken, it was just okay, nothing particularly memorable. One of my colleagues ordered a chicken sandwich, and another got what might have been the most massive fish tender I've ever seen. If I ate fish, I definitely would've tried it, and she said it was really good. Unfortunately, what really impacted our experience was the atmosphere. There was a choir conference happening nearby, and a large group of attendees came into the pub and started singing, loudly and continuously, throughout the evening. While it was entertaining for the first couple of songs, it quickly became overwhelming and disruptive. It didn't seem like other patrons were enjoying it either, there was little to no engagement or applause, and I found myself wishing the staff had stepped in to tone things down a bit. I understand that a bar environment can bring in all kinds of energy, but this went on far too long and really took away from the experience we were hoping to have. Based on the food alone, I'd give Miller's Pub 3 out of 5 stars. But factoring in the overall experience, it's closer to a 2.5 out of 5 for me.

I had been wanting to try Industry Ales when it opened and was glad to have had the opportunity to finally check it out! I was slightly thrown off, as the dining tables are at the front of this space, and the bar is all the way at the back. In fact, my friend at first glance thought it was a sit-down dining establishment sans bar seating. We found our way to the bar and posted up at two seats. We were offered menus right away and found the bartender extremely knowledgeable. This was super helpful when facing down an encyclopedia of ales. He offered samples when we explained what we were looking for. That is service above and beyond, especially on a bustling Friday early evening. The brews were tasty, but I couldn't really discern what I was drinking apart to say it was a lighter Belgian Ale. Wine is more in my wheelhouse, but always good to change things up, especially when a person has the opportunity to be guided by an expert. The people seated nearby had ordered the tuna tartare which looked delicious. In fact, all of the menu is globally influenced (think: pizza samosas, pierogis, Korean BBQ) in addition to the classic brewpub favorites. In addition to the Brewpub, this location features the Millroom, a speakeasy-style lounge. I did not have a chance to check that out on this visit. Definitely a cut above the usual sports bar and a place to expand one's knowledge of brews.

Whiskey fans, you'll love the huge selection along with the impressive beer selection. Yelp should really hype this as a whiskey bar, too. It more than qualifies. The cuisine is phenomenal. Pro Tip: if you can tolerate a large quantity of fish, visit on a Wednesday for their AYCE Fish & Chips. I've had many hum drum AYCE dinners that are drab and only fill you up. Not this one. It's a great meal and a great deal. The Shepherd's Pie was fabulous, as was the Bangers and Mash. They've created a Haggis Burger that has to appease Americans, yet, still be haggis. We tasted so many different malts it was hard to pick a favourite. No foolin' they had island malts, highland malts, speyside and even a couple from the lowlands. One to-go specific note, the jalapeños came pretty solidified in butter, which isn't great unless you can heat them up right away. Probably a non-issue dining in, but worth knowing if you're ordering out. Good food and smooth pickup experience overall, just go in knowing the prices are on the higher end.
