We'd meant to stop in here for some time and finally did last Sunday afternoon. The Booze Hound is a very charming bar with a slew of vintage decor, and on the day we went, a very lovely bartender was at the helm. She engaged her patrons with such sincerity and seemed happy to engage, which can be rare, per my experience at other small Chicago bars. Their beer selection is good, and their near-Metra location is ideal. It's also on the Milwaukee bus line. We chatted up a friendly regular, and that's always a big plus for me - regulars not being standoffish. I wish this place was a bit closer to home because, if it was, I would perhaps become a regular myself!

Having saw this place many times while going over the Grayland Metra station, I finally thought to come in. It's located almost literally under the tracks, and inside you can hear the trains rumble. The Booze Hound has lots to drink of course, at pretty good prices too. Also lots of cool old sports memorabilia is everywhere. You can have fun looking at all the stuff while drinking and watching current games and sports. A classic feeling and looking old bar. It's been here quite awhile, and it's often been overlooked by travelers above it. This is conveniently located right off the Grayland Metra station. Has a sign out front you can catch a glimpse of. It caught my attention many times. Patrons here are mostly welcoming. It's about $3 for the cheapest beer. The cheapest whiskeys are about $6 or so. Has some things on tap, and lots more in bottles and cans. There's just not any food. Good bar to bring dogs. It's also a good one for sports fans who like to collect and look at memorabilia and random items. There's ton of classic crap along the walls.

Send pictures about the crap ears and designs on the walls and the dog drinking a bottle of my heart.

Services is great, bartenders are good and the ambience is always friendly and comfortable.

Receipt from my Lyft ride proving I went to a few places before coming to this disappointment. Wasn't worth it. (Read my entire review)

"Sexy Jesus" was bartending. He was unwelcoming, rude and definitely over charged me. LAST NIGHT: (after midnight 7/3/23) I walked in and it was empty with two guys and just the bartender. It felt very unwelcoming despite my positive attitude. I told him I've went to like 4 different places hoping a liquor store was open. (It was Sunday and I had a long day I just wanted some wine!) I asked for a quick shot, then I was like YOU KNOW WHAT MAKE IT A DOUBLE and a 6 pack of beer to go. (They didn't have red wine) I swear to God...he did this quick little 3 second pour and really tried to stand there and be short with me... and tell me it was a double. The nerve. ( I was on FaceTime with my friend and he even saw and said the same thing!! ) MIND YOU I was there with a nice attitude. He knows what I just dealt with. My uber was waiting outside patiently... Little did he know I would have tipped him very generously if he wasn't such an ash hole. Nothing was open so I came here. But I'll never come back here again. I rather give my money to nicer, more respectful establishments who won't rip you off. In the end I paid $20 for a 6 pack and itty bitty shot that WAS NOT a double like I had asked............. I've bartended before. It wasn't a funking double bro. Look at the cameras and check your eyes. Proof of my uber receipt that I DID indeed go to several stops before coming to this disappointing establishment . DO NOT RECOMMEND. If you're the owner go check him bro

I was just picking up a Metra at the Grayland station after a Cubs game. What a great surprise to find the Boozehound situated right next to the station. Guinness on tap was great and priced reasonably. Bartender was friendly and it was great to see people bring their dogs into the establishment. This may be my new go to Metra stop when headed to Wrigley instead of Irving Park on Union Pacific Northwest.

Beer cooler with a good selection.

After leaving the symphony, we wanted somewhere nearby to grab a meal and have a good conversation, so we ended up at Miller's Pub at 134 S. Wabash. My colleague had made a reservation, but honestly, it didn't seem necessary, you can easily walk in. Miller's Pub is a longtime Chicago staple, and we were seated quickly. The space is much larger than it appears, with a classic Irish pub feel and an antique charm that gives it a lot of character. Our server was enthusiastic, attentive, and very accommodating throughout the night, which we appreciated. Food-wise, we ordered a variety of dishes. I kept it simple with a salad topped with carrots and chicken, it was just okay, nothing particularly memorable. One of my colleagues ordered a chicken sandwich, and another got what might have been the most massive fish tender I've ever seen. If I ate fish, I definitely would've tried it, and she said it was really good. Unfortunately, what really impacted our experience was the atmosphere. There was a choir conference happening nearby, and a large group of attendees came into the pub and started singing, loudly and continuously, throughout the evening. While it was entertaining for the first couple of songs, it quickly became overwhelming and disruptive. It didn't seem like other patrons were enjoying it either, there was little to no engagement or applause, and I found myself wishing the staff had stepped in to tone things down a bit. I understand that a bar environment can bring in all kinds of energy, but this went on far too long and really took away from the experience we were hoping to have. Based on the food alone, I'd give Miller's Pub 3 out of 5 stars. But factoring in the overall experience, it's closer to a 2.5 out of 5 for me.

I had been wanting to try Industry Ales when it opened and was glad to have had the opportunity to finally check it out! I was slightly thrown off, as the dining tables are at the front of this space, and the bar is all the way at the back. In fact, my friend at first glance thought it was a sit-down dining establishment sans bar seating. We found our way to the bar and posted up at two seats. We were offered menus right away and found the bartender extremely knowledgeable. This was super helpful when facing down an encyclopedia of ales. He offered samples when we explained what we were looking for. That is service above and beyond, especially on a bustling Friday early evening. The brews were tasty, but I couldn't really discern what I was drinking apart to say it was a lighter Belgian Ale. Wine is more in my wheelhouse, but always good to change things up, especially when a person has the opportunity to be guided by an expert. The people seated nearby had ordered the tuna tartare which looked delicious. In fact, all of the menu is globally influenced (think: pizza samosas, pierogis, Korean BBQ) in addition to the classic brewpub favorites. In addition to the Brewpub, this location features the Millroom, a speakeasy-style lounge. I did not have a chance to check that out on this visit. Definitely a cut above the usual sports bar and a place to expand one's knowledge of brews.

Whiskey fans, you'll love the huge selection along with the impressive beer selection. Yelp should really hype this as a whiskey bar, too. It more than qualifies. The cuisine is phenomenal. Pro Tip: if you can tolerate a large quantity of fish, visit on a Wednesday for their AYCE Fish & Chips. I've had many hum drum AYCE dinners that are drab and only fill you up. Not this one. It's a great meal and a great deal. The Shepherd's Pie was fabulous, as was the Bangers and Mash. They've created a Haggis Burger that has to appease Americans, yet, still be haggis. A tall order since most would hate "true" haggis. Fear not, it's not your grandfather's haggis, it is a tasty burger. The fries were great but I'd recommend the Tattie Skins. We tasted so many different malts it was hard to pick a favourite. No foolin' they had island malts, highland malts, speyside and even a couple from the lowlands. One to-go specific note, the jalapeños came pretty solidified in butter, which isn't great unless you can heat them up right away.
