This was our second time at Raas. Out first experience was excellent so we invited good friends of ours to join us for dinner on our second visit. The wait staff couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. We are not all that familiar with Indian cuisine so our waitress was fantastic in helping us navigate to some superb entrees. Two of us had the Tandori Salmon, which was perfectly seasoned(not too spicy for us.) The others had the Chicken Tikka Masala, which they also raved about. What a great place for dinner! A delicious departure from the typical shore food. Curtis our waiter was attentive, on top of all of our needs. And he makes a terrific old fashioned. This was an amazing dining experience, from the warm welcome upon entering the front door (no waiting around to be acknowledged at host stand) you felt as though you had arrived at a good friend's home, to the wonderfully attentive service all through the evening! We ordered a variety of appetizers and all had different main courses. Chef GG was wonderful in guiding us on how best to enjoy the whole fish served to one of our group! It looked amazing! The decor was beautiful and pleased to see how clever they have been in updating while still retaining the wonderful elements of the lovely Victorian home. So many smiling faces from all of the staff all evening just made you feel so very welcomed, the food was so -o flavorful, a real treat, can't wait to go back, love that they take reservations, so no waiting in lines!! My family and I are currently on vacation in Rehoboth and made reservations for Raas for our Father's Day dinner. Unfortunately, it was not a great experience (enough to prompt me to write a review). While the food was good (shout out to the Swordfish Tikka), we encountered multiple issues with our service and our server, Noni. She was friendly, however was very dishonest about multiple aspects of the charges on our bill: - I ordered a watermelon juice. She brought us two and said one would be on the house. It wasn't. - My entree was accidentally taken by another server and by the time I received it, my party had finished all of their entrees. - Noni had insisted my entree and some of our appetizers would be taken off the tab. NOTHING was taken off our tab. - When it came time to pay the bill, Noni disappeared at length. Normally, I would have disputed these issues more forcefully at the time, but I didn't want to add stress to an already stressful meal and make my father feel uncomfortable. But please be advised and cautioned by my experience. The lack of integrity we experienced was highly disappointing for such a seemingly upscale business. read more

We had high expectations but were sorely disappointed. Lovely building, setting, service and even presentation but the food was average at best. Why charge $30-40+ for curries? If it were spectacular I might not have balked but it is overpriced and to some it would be worth the spend to enjoy the unique setting and atmosphere. read more

This is our favorite restaurant in the Lewes/Rehoboth area. We have now dined 3 ways. First was a big sampling of their small plates, then a regular dinner with large plates, and finally a Happy Hour. Each experience was top-notch. To start, the Indian themed cocktails are to die for. Each has a different twist using top shelf liquors and Indian flavorings. The small plates/appetizers are out favorite food offerings. Among them are the Cauliflower Manchurian, Swordfish Tikka, and Smoked Eggplant Chokha. Also, give the Honey Chili Water Chestnuts a try! There is a separate Happy Hour menu to keep trying different dishes. The owner and the entire staff are helpful and attentive. While the prices are higher than your run of the mill Indian restaurant, the imaginative offerings and superior service make it worthwhile. read more

What a great addition to the dining scene in Lewes. I have now been there twice and both were excellent. Great service and the food melts in your mouth. I can recommend the Smoked Eggplant Chokha to share as a starter. Then, on my second visit, I tried the Kurkuri Bhindi (crispy okra) and I loved it. If you stick with small plates, the Saffron Chicken Tikka was plenty for me for dinner. Several people had recommended the Chicken Tikka Masale, which my friend had and ate every bite. The Red Curie Chicken dish I ordered on my second visit was enough for two dinners but very good. It is wonderful to have a restaurant of the caliber here in Lewes and good to see how popular it has already become. read more

Let's take a look at the Bombay club in Washington DC which is a classic much less expensive. I asked for extra rice - guess what another eight dollars. On first try my partner and myself were impressed by the building, the service, and most importantly the food. We both ordered the pork vindaloo and a bottle of wine, while sat on the beautiful patio at the front of the restaurant. As someone who grew up in the UK experiencing world class curry I can say Raas did a good job, and impressed us enough to warrant a return visit to try other dishes. The only other nearby Indian restaurant is Indigo in Rehoboth which is excellent, but to be honest the menus of each place don't compete with each other as they are so different. I'll go to both from now on. Raas is more Indian/Asian fusion than Indigo which makes it interesting, but Indigo has excellent and more traditional dishes. I'm just amazed, and very glad they are both in my area. I'll be returning to Raas soon with friends! It's definitely worth checking out! read more

I usually give most restaurants the benefit of the doubt, especially during these difficult times, but this restaurant purposely went out of their way to overcharge for mostly mediocre food and blatantly lie about the size and contents of the dishes. They were actively hostile to children and charged $20 for a rather weird dish that the kids disliked, that contained undercooked chicken. A special lentil dish that was talked up and hard sold..turned out to be the size of a side dish with a small bowl of rice for $28. A request for a small scoop of ice cream for a child was delivered as a 2 scoop order for $12. A piece of cake was dry and tasted previously frozen, with Hershey syrup poured over it was $12. They were resistant to make substitutions and continued to try to upsell everything. The naan was greasy and flat and $6 for a smallish piece. I get better food at my local place. read more

Must try the eggplant with chili cheese naan and crab cakes as appetizers..... and the lamb Rogan Josh or whole fish are the best I have had at any restaurant. If I could, I'd give it a 4.5. I'm stingy with 5's and Raas is better than a 4. They did a fantastic renovation turning the old house into a roomy and modern restaurant. It is bright and well decorated. We were lucky to be able to get a walk-in table on a Saturday night. We had a range of food and it was all well prepared. None of us are experts on Indian food, but we truly enjoyed a range of appetizers and main courses. We did not have dessert. The staff was well trained and easy to work with. It is great to have yet another strong restaurant in Lewes, and we look forward to visiting again. read more

Fun spot! Still working out their kinks from being new/service pretty slow but the restaurant was full. Cool space, unique dishes. Nice little twist on traditional Indian food. Love the stuffed mushroom appetizer. Good amount of kids menu options. My only critiques are that the food is pretty Americanized as the chicken tikka masala and saag paneer kofta had zero spice. People who are sensitive to spice can rejoice here! Rice could have used some butter as it was pretty dry. Overall, I will be back! There's definitely love put into this place. read more

We have eaten Indian food countless places and have had the good fortune to have enjoyed some outstanding Indian food. Regrettably, this overpriced restaurant was most remarkably mediocre at best. The appetizer we chose was a beef kabob and was nicely spiced with heat too, however it was a very mushy pan fried patty not a kabob. The texture was just not appetizing and the sauce served with it was lacking in flavor and did not compliment the patty mush. We love Indian food because of the complex flavors found in truly good sauces. The Rogan Josh lamb shank had very tender and good lamb, however the sauce tasted like nothing more than a mild, bland chili powder and was not like any Rogan josh we have ever had. The chicken tikka massala also was very bland, like a can of tomato soup with a little cream in it. The house made ice cream trio was surprisingly good. The mango had a lot of ice crystals such that it seemed to be more of a sorbet. The pistachio had a good flavor. The rose flavor really came through, unlike some we have had were it was so delicate as to be nearly indistinguishable. The first cocktail with mango was very sweet but my husband liked it. The drink with the cardamom marmalade would have been better if they had shaken the cocktail to disperse the marmalade because you couldn't really taste the cardamom until the end. read more

Food at this restaurant was ok, it was expensive for what you got, and I wouldn't recommend the cocktails here, they weren't very good. Service was on the slow side. If you're visiting for dinner I would recommend reservations for indoor dining, we ended up eating outdoors and we all got bitten by mosquitoes which didn't make the experience enjoyable. We ordered the saffron chicken and samosas for starters, wasn't keen on the saffron chicken, it didn't have any flavor to it. Samosas were better. We had biriyani and chicken tikka for main, these entrees were good, although the rice with the chicken tikka could have been better quality rice. The garlic naan was pretty good. We are in Lewes for a week visiting and were recommended this restaurant by several people. We are familiar with Indian cuisine having lived in Asia for years. This is definitely a fancier Indian restaurant. Our server was Brian and he was able to give us some good suggestions. Our favorites were the tandoori shrimp (could've eaten several), manchurian cauliflower, chicken korma and chicken tikka masala. We also really enjoyed the deconstructed pork vindaloo. It was a big juicy piece and was really good. We decided to get five entrees (for five people) and share. I would suggest this if you are in a big group because you get to taste many things. If you like spicy I highly recommend the spicy margarita. If we lived here this would be a regular, but since we are just visiting we will definitely be back next time. This restaurant was excellent. My waitress Lindsay recommended several dishes and I chose the Spicy Mango Margarita (2), the Saffron chicken Tikka and Tandoori half Cornish game hen. All were excellent. Moderate spice. Great flavors. Saffron chicken was moist and flavorful. The Cornish game hen was a tad dry in the breast but overall delicious. Who would think of Indian food and Lewes Delaware? Well this place may be one of my favorite beach restaurants ever. The food is inventive, often deconstructed, and intensely flavorful. We had a whole fish cooked in a little orange ginger sauce, and it was awesome. Appetizers here are the right size, very tasty and well done. From the moment we walked in the staff all greeted us with smiles. Our server David was extremely knowledgeable and was more than eager to describe all of dishes and his favorites. We just dined at Raas. Service was IMPECCABLE! It really makes a big difference in the dining experience. Food was delicious and drinks were creative. My only negative was the scallops on the small plate were very small for $28 (I know it was a small plate). I would have preferred 3 U-10s to the 4 small scallops. Otherwise, flavors were excellent and had the perfect heat. Garlic Naan was warm and the Pea Rice was a great compliment. We will definitely be back! read more

This was our first time at Raas and will not return. We had heard a couple of years ago that the food was outstanding so we gave it a try. We order for four people a couple of appetizers, some Naan, four standard Indian dishes (butter chicken, paneer, ...) and two mango lassis. No alcohol or desserts. The food was good but nothing outstanding. The portions were fairly small. The bill, however, came out to $285 for four people without tip! This place is CRAZY expensive for the quality and quantity of the food you get. At those prices I expected so much more than average food and small portions. read more

They were clearing a high top Off for us in the bar area and before we could sit down 2 women from the bar got up and took it. So we sat at the bar. The bartender was nice enough but not personable. We placed our order. The food arrived hot and smelled great. The food was very good. Not anything special though. But very good. The drinks were ok to good. When turned away from other restaurants closing at same time as Raas, this staff invited our family in and made us feel that we were so special and wanted to please us in all aspects of our dining experience. This is the main focus of this place"dining experience". The owner himself came to speak to each table and spent time to provide us a history of his passion and journey to introduce Lewes to food made with flavors that hit and exceed all expectations. This is not your usual Indian cuisine. This is every bite made with love to induce a magic to your palate. They make all fresh with spices and even flowers to excite your senses. Each dish we tried both familiar or new shocked us to the uniqueness of this kitchen staff. Nothing traditional to traditional options. Dessert is a must for the bread pudding and the sorbets are exciting and add the perfect ending to a lovely meal experience. This restaurant came recommended by neighbors but was disappointing. The prices were far above what I would expect to pay for the portion sizes and the food was good, but nothing special. I've had much better Indian food for far less money. We placed a large carry out order ($150) and the portions were so small the entire order fit in one small carry out bag. One of our party ordered a cauliflower curry dish and it came with one big hunk of cauliflower and very little sauce. The house special dal was underwhelming and they gave us only one little plastic condiment container of mint sauce for our entire order to feed five people. Would be fine if it was half the price but for such high prices we expected far better quality of flavor and larger servings. read more
