It's hard for me to recommend that you use RM Schmidt for your HVAC needs. It started out reasonably well, but the new install didn't hold the coolant. They came out a couple times, but never successfully found a leak - just dumped in more refrigerant and told me sometimes you need to "top it off." (Subsequent HVAC techs have told me that's a load, so I don't know). Eventually, they admitted they should have replaced the coolant lines between the outside unit and inside. So, they did and on their dime, which I do appreciate. This held up for a while, but then the unit went out again and since it was more than a year out, I had to pay for the labor of the repairs because, supposedly, I hadn't done the right maintenance. Call me crazy, but the company was out something like 4 times checking things out. That should have counted. At this point, they became very difficult to work with and the customer service, which had been pretty good, went completely downhill. I couldn't get a straight story and couldn't get a call back.
Ultimately, they installed a new system and I had at least 3 extra fillings of refrigerant (including the line replace and the part repair) and spent $1,000+ of my own money to fix a system that really ought to last a decade and a half. I can only speak to my own experience, but based on it, I wouldn't recommend. read more
