I paid $1600 for the service. About a week later, the front tire on the passenger side falls off my car (due to improperly installed lug nuts) while it's in motion. This caused extensive damage that ended up totaling my car. The company accepted full liability, but once they learned that the damage would cost more to fix than the value of my car, they were no longer willing to fix it. The claims department offered a settlement for what they deemed to be the value of the car. Although, I was financing the vehicle, so I could not accept it. Aside from the eventual conclusion of the car being deemed a total loss, I had to deal with a tow truck driver threatening to impound my car due to not being paid by Firestone. I also had to deal with Enterprise Rental Car threatening to charge my debit card since they hadn't been paid either. Both situations took emotional distress and anger on my part to resolve. The accident happened in October of 2025 and my car wasn't fully evaluated and totaled out until February of 2026. This was a long, drawn out, tragedy that I was made to pay out of pocket for due to the circumstances. Go ANYWHERE else!

From start to finish, communication was clear, professional, and timely. They walked me through the claim, coordinated with the repair shop, and followed through on what was promised. An engine replacement is a major repair, and Empire Auto Protect truly stepped up and honored the coverage without unnecessary delays or excuses. The repair was approved, completed properly, and I was kept informed throughout the process. This experience gave me real peace of mind and proved the value of having a warranty like this. I highly recommend Empire Auto Protect to anyone looking for reliable coverage and support when it matters most

Run from this place !!!…read more I had a really disappointing experience with Empire Auto Protect. I paid for coverage for about a year, expecting to use it once my manufacturer warranty expired. When I called to ask about activating/using my coverage at that point, the representative instead told me my policy would be canceled and that I wouldn't be refunded for the time I had already paid. There was no clear explanation upfront that the coverage wouldn't work the way I intended, and no effort to resolve the situation fairly. I feel like I paid for something I never actually got to use. If you're considering this company, make sure you fully understand when your coverage starts, how it works with existing warranties, and what their cancellation/refund policies are because my experience was not what I expected.

As a back-yard mechanic myself and having performed many of the repairs they have done for me, I know they are not jerking me around. If you want it done right, take it to Martel's. If they can't fix it, they will be up front with you and let you know.

Martel's apparently used to be a fully trusted name and adviser when under the original owner, but…read moresince selling the name to a new owner service seems to be a mixed bag. I was referred to Martel's by at least 4 individuals whom all suggested that I take my vehicle to them at a time when I experience a full-on breakdown. I usually went to another local shop in town who strictly focused on my vehicle brand, but again, from the very positive recommendations from the other individuals decided to go against my internal input and have my vehicle towed to Martel's. Before just having my vehicle sent to the shop I called ahead to ensure I would be able to get service as I understand that auto repairs can sometimes be a lengthy process. I don't ever want any shop to feel that they need to rush through a repair, potentially missing something along the way; so when I spoke to the receptionist that needed to check with the owner to verify he could get my vehicle in, I was asked to bring it in right away for service. I proceeded to have the tow company drop my vehicle to Martel's and then had to call myself to get a status update at day 2 of the vehicle being there. I understand repairs on already scheduled vehicles can delay the process to get to my vehicle so I gave an extra day after a quick call in to see if there was any updates. The status update ended up being the same that my vehicle was not yet reviewed for repair and would be pushed back into the next week since it was already the end of the week. At this point it would be several days before I could expect to receive an answer as to what would need repair on my car. The start of the week came around and by the end of the day, still no updates, so I decided to drive directly to the shop and find out in person the issue for the delayed response. I received the same answer, that they were not able to get to my vehicle, but would try the next day. I am a patient person by all means, but all I ever really require is at least status updates. I probably could have easily taken my vehicle to the original shop I normally go to, but wanted to give Martel's a chance based on the referrals provided. After my on site visit things seemed to be expedited, if not by chance that time had allowed them to get to my car and I appreciated the update since the car had already been sitting for a few days, even though I'd been asked to bring it in right away. From there, the parts were ordered and the car was repaired right away. Some of the additional items I'd asked to be checked over while the vehicle was there were never accounted for, but the car was repaired and back to operational status, and that' s all I could ask for at this point. My guess is that the receptionist is only there part time, so waiting on any updates from the owner who is also one of the lead service tech's is overwhelming on the team, so getting any updates can come off sounding misguided in their attempts to express that they are making any progress on a vehicle if the receptionist is not around all day. I can respect an owner who is giving their all to keep a company moving, but with that said, I am only asking for updates after not hearing anything for a couple of days after being asked to bring in my vehicle right away. I did end up taking a second vehicle there to give them another chance, and with the second car the team was direct and quick to handle the repair requests. So I am 50/50. I believe they have the absolute know-how to handle repairs on European vehicles that many other providers will not touch, I just hope they are able to improve on their customer service aspect to adequately provide updates as needed when things do not go according to their statements. My recommendation for Martel's is to be as clear as possible with your intents with the expectation updates will be delayed to be received. I may not be able to directly recommend them but I can cautiously refer them to handle unique vehicle brands others are not willing to touch. I believe in time the new owner will settle into the multifaceted role that is required of them, just be aware you may wait a little longer than anticipated to have a vehicle completed for repair.

Took my car here for a check engine light after pep boys told me a solenoid needed to be replaced and they couldnt do it. The owner Chris re-diagnosed the the problem and agreed a solenoid needed to be replaced. He charged me almost $800 dollars and when I picked the car up the check engine light was still on and I now had a completely flat tire. Chris tried to tell me the tire was probably already leaking before I dropped it off despite me having driven hundreds of miles with no issues over the last several weeks. We then discovered there was a nail now in the tire that one of his employees had driven over in their parking lot. They patched the tire and told me they would fix the problem. Chris calls me 2 days later saying now he thinks its just the wiring but it will cost another $600 dollars to fix. He stated its not his fault he didnt fix the problem correctly the first time since "I told him to fix the solenoid" even though he called me and said he diagnosed that as the problem as well. He finally fixed a wiring issue after a week of working on the car and charged an additional $600 because he could figure out the problem the first time. The professional thing to do would have been to correctly diagnose and fix the problem the first time like a competent mechanic instead of becoming defensive and blaming the customer and the charging them twice for your own incompetence. If I could give 0 stars I would TLDR: I asked this guy to fix a check engine light. He couldnt figure out the problem, blamed me, popped one of my tires and charged me twice. I will never go back. Please do not waste your money here.

The reason for the return visit was a "block off" plug just fell out ("rattled out", their words) on one of the 2 new exhaust manifolds that they had just replaced. No only would they not take ownership on an obvious "comeback", they charged me $85 to diagnose their own failure in workmanship. I also requested (me, not them) to have the both valve cover gaskets & all 8 spark plugs replaced. (V8 motor). I was bringing it back for the previously discussed oil leaking valve cover gaskets and the oil soaked (on the exterior) spark plugs from prior $3,800 visit. I didn't have an issue with either their hourly rate or the labor times charged, but I was price gouged over $120 for 8 Champion CopperPlus resister type regular spark plugs (NAPA list, $5.99/ea.) and over $75 for the set of Fel-Pro valve cover gaskets (NAPA list, $32.99). That's more than DOUBLE the list price on parts. I was planning on bringing my wife's Sentra back in again, but not now, not ever. You'd figure with the cost of advertising and new customer acquisition, they would want to retain existing customers, but obviously not.
