My husband was okay with his wrap although it wasn't anything special. Mine, on the other hand, was not good. The 'dip' was not able to be dipped at all. It was thick and not at all creamy. The cheese was coagulated. The artichokes were in big chunks and I found some of the fiber pieces from the artichoke and the spinach was scant. the dip did not taste like it was seasoned. Then, the chips provided were burnt. I had to dig around to find maybe 5 that were not a deep golden brown. Next, they included a slew of thinly chopped raw vegetables. I had never received raw vegetables with a spinach artichoke dip. Typically the inclusions are like pita chips and small bread slices Additionally, because of the way the vegetables were cut, I wouldn't have been able to use them, even if the dip was looser and creamier because they were too thinly sliced.. After two bites that I had to use a knife to spread on a few chips that I could find that were edible, I threw it away. We don't expect to be in the area again. I split a souvlaki plate of lamb with my mother. They were so gracious to prepare us each a plate. Food is cooked fresh and to order. OMG everything was amazing! That settled it; we had to try it. Out of sheer excitement or exhaustion, we forgot to make a reservation. I quickly remembered this mistake as we entered Hooked. People filled every table and seat at the bar. I looked at my bestie with great concern because we were anticipating our first meal of the day. The hostess welcomed us warmly, and then she asked the dreadful question, "Do y'all have a reservation?" We sadly said no, and she immediately began to express regret. Maybe it was the "Grad2026" headband or the disappointment on our faces that caused her to have pity on us because she told us to wait one second. The hostess walked to the bar, then she went to the main seating area, lastly she went next door where there's additional seating. She returned with a smile and motioned for us to follow her. The hostess found us seats at the bar! We ordered, chatted with the locals, and ate a delicious meal. We even made room for dessert which we learned was made by the owner, the hostess! Boyfriend has been wanting to try Taj for a while and we finally took the opportunity to stop in while we were in the area. The ambiance inside the restaurant is calm and quiet. The service was efficient and friendly enough. We got paneer pakoras, chicken madras, paneer masala and garlic naan. You can choose your level of spice on a scale of one to six. I ordered my madras to be a five and my boyfriend ordered six for the paneer masala. The pakoras and chutneys were solid. The naan bread was soft, pillowy and had a pleasant chew, making it some of the best I've ever tasted. I tried the paneer masala and enjoyed the richness of it, plus my boyfriend said the spice of it was perfect. I really loved the madras curry, perfect spice level and bursting with flavor. Overall a very good experience at Taj. We will definitely have to make a point to return if we're ever in downtown Manchester again!
