It is recommended by the hotel concierge and we saw it has pretty good reviews so we decided to give it a go. We stood awkwardly in the middle of the restaurant for somebody to show us where our table is, the bar tender ask us to seat ourselves anywhere. And we told him that Our concierge called ahead to reserved us a table but they said there's no record. But he said he'll get us a seat so that's settled after such fuss. We sat for a long time until there's actually someone to take our drink order. And when we finally order our food, it took a long time to come. I'd be ok if the mains take long but most of the food we ordered are appetizers. What upset me the most is that the whole time we are sitting there, there are only two other tables that is occupied so there's really no point of making such a big deal about if we have make a reservation or not! So the service here I give it a 2.5/5 The food was good but I guess we are a little bummed so it's not exactly extraordinary to us. We had cod fritter- 3.5/5, fried calamari - 3.5/5, patata Bravas 4/5, and a steak with padron pepper 2/5 ( it is extremely salty and the portion is so tiny.) Looking for a decent tapas bar, and couldn't get into my desired destination, but Quillo wasn't far and looked good with good reviews. Sat at the bar, decent if not stellar wine selection. Food was actually surprisingly good. I had huevos rojas con jamon iberico (fries topped with fried eggs and sauteed Spanish ham, with a bit of pesto around the edges), and Buenelos de bacalao (deep fried fritters of salt cod dough). Both dishes were outstanding! Had a few glasses of the Ribera del Duero, and I left a happy man without a lot of damage! Really liked the music and how boisterous the place was. Nice bar with seasonal offerings and seafood of the day. Ensaladilla was unique with their truffle touch, the cheese in oil very tasty. Tried for the first time the sangria with cava and it was a nice variation of the one you usually get. Wife and I traveled all over Europe and when we were in Barcelona and asked some locals where to get the best paella in town, they all said this place. Although paella is for tourists, our food tour guide who is from Spain said it's been over 5 years since he's had paella. The food was pretty good, I be had better but the service and staff were amazing, which is why it's 4 stars. The location is literally beach front so you hear the crashing waves while sipping wine and enjoying seafood dishes. Great night and great experience. read more

I would normally rate this place 3 stars. The food is good, but pricey, and the service was so-so (by American standards. I suppose, we are used to restaurant staff being much more attentive than the average European restaurant in our experience). Anyway, the reason for the 1 star is their overcharging us on the bill. Be very careful when ordering, and read over the bill carefully before paying. After we left the restaurant, it finally struck us as odd that our bill was $56 euros when in our heads (and using the restaurant's online menu) we calculated it should have been 37 euros. The only thing we can imagine is that they double charged us for the paella, which boggles the mind to consider how little paella one would get for the 19 euro price, let alone the 38 euro charge we received for a dish mostly consisting of rice (this was the paella iberica, which does not have seafood and saffron) By the time we realized this we were several blocks away and I hadn't kept my receipt. I would avoid this place anyway, it's incredibly expensive for not a lot of food. Also, they will ask if you want to pay USD instead of euros and of course their exchange rate is several dollars worse than our credit card's. Pretty fishy if you ask me. Annoyingly the bill says "tip not included" probably as some kind of ploy to pry more money out of American tourists, even though tipping is incredibly rare in Spain, and certainly not merited for the service in this restaurant. read more

This is a horrible restaurant in Barcelona. I was so disappointed from the quality service to the taste of he food. We sat at the bar and we wanted as the staff be rude over and over again. They even told people not to sit in certain parts of the bar because they like to pass drinks at that point even through there is a seat there and no other open ones. The cheese board is all hard cheese with little to no flavor difference. The "bread" is cheap crackers that are in a plastics bag like a bag of chips. Not anywhere near $12.00 worth. read more

Stumbled across this bar/restaurant while wandering aimlessly around the Old Town Barcelona. It opened three months ago and is popular with locals. Not a single tourist to be seen here (except us) which was a major bonus. Decor is perfect. Lots of tables. A long bar and an outdoor terrace for drinks and dining. The tapas menu was exquisite. We had delicious jamon iberico. The oxtail was quite possibly the best I've ever had. The octopus was fresh and not overcooked. Our bartender Max was friendly and happy to add more wine to my tinto de verano when I thought it was too sweet. My boyfriend enjoyed the vermouth which is made locally. This was a surprisingly delightful little place near our hotel in Rec Comtal that features a Flamenco guitarist. We sat near the pretty bar and had some late night tapas and a few glass of cabs that they poured from a just opened bottle. Everything was good but the pan y tomate was so exceptional that I wanted two orders. It was served as four pieces of toasted bread cut lengthwise with olive oil, a fresh ripe tomato cut in half, a garlic clove and sea salt for a perfect make your own version of this Spanish classic. Perfect alone, it also paired exceptionally well with the marinated Manchego in olive oil. We also had padron peppers served in a terra cotta planter pot that kept them piping hot. read more

This venue also typically has live music and an upbeat atmosphere for those wanting a livelier dining experience. The garlic shrimp and fried calamari tapas were delicious.
