Avocado Salad : tender avocado and shredded kani (fake crab), smothered in yum yum sauce and topped with roe. Would order again. Lunch General Tso's Chicken: Spring Roll is very crunchy, almost hard, with a tough wrap. Inside is very good - soft and flavorful. GTC - the broccoli is HARD. Crunchy. Can't even cut it with a knife. And it's barely warm. Difficult to eat. Needs more cooking. The plate itself is cold, making the rice cold. The chicken is heavily breaded and cooked til it is hard. Sauce is overwhelming and thick, extremely sweet and sticky. Could not tell there was any actual chicken in it. Language barrier with waiter so no real help there.

We were seating immediately and our order taken pretty quickly. My mom got the filet mignon hibachi and I got an eel avocado roll and an Alaska roll. There was a minor issue with the hibachi rice, but when my mom told them this, they kindly made her a new rice. The steak was incredible. I also adored my sushi. This is a fantastic spot for hibachi and sushi. It seems like most people do takeout during lunch, but it's good for dining in too. I'd recommend this spot, especially if you're in the area.

However, in the years since the pandemic, I can't help but feel like the quality of the food's gone down. I'm not sure if the recipe's changed or if they're using different ingredients - but it's just not that good anymore. I recently got the chicken hibachi for their lunch special and immediately, one of the things I first noticed was just how rubbery the chicken pieces were. They also tasted off and not even the yum yum sauce (which I'm pretty sure is different from the one they used to have) could save the taste. They also have a different mushroom soup now that has a lot more spice in it and the taste doesn't match with how it used to be. That being said, I will say that my wife has always enjoyed their sushi here and has never had a complaint on that. Also - the staff here have always been super kind and attentive. We've never had a single issue with the folks that work here. I can't speak of the atmosphere or state of the restaurant since I haven't dined here since 2013. Osaka's is also another staple of Culpeper and frankly - tastes better than Dragon Chef in my opinion. I just wish my recent experiences were as good as my old ones. If nothing else, the staff here are amazing and their sushi is worth coming back here for again and again. Best pricing for their lunch specials!
