Egg rolls
Shannon L.

Finally made it back to this place after only going once before the pandemic! It is so good and so worth the trek from Tacoma (if you're like me and live in Seattle). It's takeout only right now, so you can't go inside the building to eat. You order online from their website, and it seems like ordering is only available during their open hours. We ordered at noon on Saturday and the food was ready in about 30min. The portions are HUGE and so much food for the price. My friend LOVED his Philly cheesesteak (he said his criteria is that the cheese has to be good and this delivered). I got the sweet Jamaican wrap and upgraded the side to fries, another person got the mama Africa wrap and kept the beans and rice that comes with it. I was stuffed after eating all the fries and not even one of the halves of the wrap, and saved the rest for later. A friend also got the egg rolls and said they were very tasty. We got two banana foster cake slices and they're big! Kinda tastes like a cinnamon roll in cake version. Very good vegan frosting!

I pulled up to this little gem and was helped and treated so nice. She gave me suggestions on what to order? I got the Jamaican sandwich and sweet potato fries with a lemonade. It's delicious. The burger was layered to perfection and perfectly seasoned ,it's a big burger. I took it apart because it was too big for me. Very good. I can see myself visiting here everytime I come into town.

Pick up only.

Oh wow. This restaurant has been on my saved list for years and today i finally made myself find it, turns out its only 5 minutes from my workplace. I've never been to a vegan restaurant before so I didn't know what to expect, but whatever expectation I could have had was blown away. I was slightly disappointed they closed their indoor seating, but I understand why. I ordered online and waited in my car (like the front door sign tells you to), it took 8 minutes from the time I placed my order to the time I got the "ready for pickup" text. That burger was bigger than my face. I ate it all. It was amazing. It was gooey, crunchy (fresh jalapeños), creamy, and spicy. Nothing about that burger lacked flavor. Whatever patties they used absorved and brought out all the seasonings. I cannot wait to go back to try more menu items. Or maybe I'll order the same burger. Who knows? Either way, they'll be seeing my hungry face again.

Carb Monster
Re Y.

So we went to Quickie too and I had the Carb monster which is a grilled triple decker grilled cheese that comes with fries and Mac n Yease. The grilled cheese was super good, tasted like a regular grilled cheese, the fries were okay and that's only because I like mine a lil crispier. I thought that mac b Yease was okay but would've loved more cheese in It. My partner had the southern comfort and hush puppies, she enjoyed the Greens and the mac n Yease, she described It as flavorful and savory. They weren't a huge fan of the tofu steak or the mashed potatoes but the gravy was good. They also had the hush puppies which they described as very flavorful but wished It was fried a lil lighter but they weren't dry inside at all The portion size is very big and you definitely get bang for your buck. Im not a vegan at all but would recommend It since It was pretty good.

Smoky Mushroom Melt

Quickie Too is for me and you! My first time here was in 2018 it was a very crazy windy day, but we blew in off 14th and MLK Way to this Tacoma treasure and were in awe of how homey and comfy this place was including the posters and wall art booths, cloth covered tables and long bar area that almost made you feel like you were hanging out at someone's home just vibin and vegging out. I remember trying everything we possibly could including some amazing wraps, pizza, sides and honestly too much (if there is a such thing), but everything was too amazing including our service from this one of a kind hidden gem. Quickie is a black-owned & women-owned 100% plant- based vegan eatery fusing Jamaican flare with modern soul & comfort delights with some inspiration from a variety of various cuisines. The Steak Pizza was something I'll never forget when they had it nor the potato salad, which as someone who makes their own vegan version and loves trying others Quickie Too was possibly the best I've ever had. Like many great places in Pierce County I was unable pickup takeout physically during a short visit to the area so I did the next best thing and ordered delivery. And much like the first time with comfy seating and fast service and ordering an excessive amount of food... I did just that: Homemade Mac & Yease (aka Mac N Cheese) - absolutely the best - perfect amount of creaminess and pepper as well as flavor. Smoky Mushroom Melt might possible be my new favorite Q-Too item - the cremini mushrooms and melted daiya & follow your heart cheesy mashup with grilled onions and textured steaky tofurkey seitan (wheat meat protein) all loaded into a huge hoagie roll is perfection. Lovers Club is this smoky tofu super club sandwich made with smoked tofu they make in-house plus classic tomato, lettuce, onion (grilled) and pickle mashup. Super stacked and slice perfectly into several amazing halves. I did notice that Quickie has made some mods to the menu and I don't know if the potato salad is still available or just limited as I didn't see it as an options or amongst my food that I believe came with, but I have nothing but love for the Quickness of the Too. Since they've switched over to exclusive take-out only you're not able to get the full experience, but the love in care is definitely still in the customer service, quality and of course the food. There's usually a fair amount of street parking as they don't really have a lot, but there's also usually not a ton of traffic as you get closer by. Open every other day of the week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with varying hours, but once you fall in love with the magic of this marvel you'll learn Quickie's schedule as well as menu pretty quick.

Tempeh fish sandwich and spicy fries
Jessica H.

Great food, even non-vegans will love it. Friendly staff. We had the "TV dinner" (a soul-food style meal with seitan steak, collard greens, mashed potatoes, and a hush puppy) and the "fish" sandwich made with tempeh. Both meals were absolutely delicious. Reminded me of soul food I've had in Detroit and Chicago. I only wish I lived closer to Tacoma so I could come here more often!! Service was a bit on the slower side but that's understandable these days given almost every eatery has staffing issues due to COVID. The dining room is still currently closed (February 2022) so it's take-out only. So just order your meal online before driving out and you shouldn't have to wait too long. Prices are more reasonable than the other vegan restaurant in town. Food was super filling for the price. We ate late afternoon and I didn't need dinner lol. Definitely go and check this place out!

Seitan Sandwich

I don't know what I'll do with myself if Tacoma ever loses Quickie Too. There isn't a thing on this menu I don't like and I haven't shared a meal here with a single person, vegan or otherwise, who didn't become a believer. When I moved away, I'd often wake up in a cold sweat from dreams about buffalo mac & yease. Years later, the first thing I did when I got back was inhale a seitan sandwich like it contained the antidote. My all-time favorites are the aforementioned, plus the Mama Africa salad, Jamaican wrap, TV dinner, and pineapple coconut bread pudding. Tens across the board. Nothing compares. I won't pretend I'm not nostalgic for the days of dine-in, but even more than that I'm grateful to the hardworking and simply lovely ladies of Quickie Too for keeping the dream alive. Thanks for all the years of vegan grub made with love and here's to many more (please).

Quesadilla ($11)
Wendi K.

Wow the food here is just so amazing. We tried the Big Jamaican Burger ($13.5) and the Quesadilla ($11). The Jamaican burger was perfectly seasoned and very flavorful (plantains were also an amazing touch) and the Quesadilla was filled to the brim with gooey "cheese" and seitan pieces. Everything seems made in house to - I have never had seitan that soft or tofu that flavorful (it was spiced all the way through as opposed to marinated which makes me think it was homemade). Even the burger bun seems homemade. Cute little place with a patio with outdoor seating. Inside had a cute fireplace. Didn't try the desserts but those looked incredible. The owner is such a sweetheart. Definitely coming back!

We saw this little sandwich shop we hadn't seen before and decided to check it out. The atmosphere is very nice, casual, and comfortable. It looks like it would be good to sit and do homework, have lunch with some friends, or go to a casual brunch with family. There are lots of seating choices: a couch and comfy chairs, high tables and stools, and regular tables. One table had a puzzle started you could work on and there were lots of games and books you could use. You order at the counter, they deliver food to your table and there is a place to bus your own table. The beverage menu included coffee and alcoholic beverages. They offered sandwiches, crepes, pastries and soup. We ordered coffee, a pastry, soup, and order of crepes to be eaten there. The coffee was fine served in a nice mug. The cookie was large but packaged in a plastic bag that would have been ok if we had been a to go order. But we were eating there so we either had to put it directly on the table or on the plastic bag. The tomato soup was very tasty, creamy with a little kick of spice. It had occasional chunks of tomato and visible pieces of basil. All of this goodness was overshadowed because it was served in a small ramekin, the type cooks use to portion food when they are preparing a recipe. It appeared we were getting a large taste of soup instead of a cup of soup. For some reason I assumed the savory crepes would be fresh and warm, but instead my order was made with premade cold crepes loosely wrapped around the mostly cheese filling. Taken as a whole we left disappointed. The atmosphere was nice enough that I will try this place again and try something else. I hope for better because it looks like it could be a great place to eat and hang with friends.

But then we looked cross the street on 1st, where there used to be an Anthem, and even though it was already 6pm, this sandwich shop was still open and...there was a BINGO game happening. Whaddya know? So we took a peak in and they were not only serving sandwiches but they also had a cooler full of microbrews and kombuchas, beer on tap, wine, and a whole list of cocktails made from prosecco and other non-hard liquors like Amaro. Truly something for everyone. So we gave our order to the sweet human at the counter and took our seats I'm not kidding, my Amaro sour was one of the best cocktails I've had in a while in Tacoma and so were the pretzel sticks. I want my cocktails cold, tart, and refreshing with a little kick of funk or herbs and I want my pretzels salty. You wouldn't think that's such a high bar to clear but you'd be surprised. Sandwich Starr nailed it. Our Zatan sandwich was tasty but even though the bread felt a little stale. Otherwise the decor is kinda '90s coffee house and they've got bingo! Overall, this is an odd spot but the drinks are really good and it's got heart and it's the heart that makes it Tacoma.

No welcome or anything or a "hey just sit anywhere you want". So I just took initiative, grabbed a menu and sat at an empty table. There's a sign that said "order at the bar" but the barkeep would go to other people and ask what they wanted. Okay, that's fine... Trying to follow the rules so I don't single myself out, I went to the bar and was asked for my ID, but why? I wasn't ordering drinks and when other people came, the barkeep didn't ask the other customers for their ID so I felt some type of way but whatever. We proceed to order the Philly and Mac & Cheese. Philly tasted great because it also came with dipping sauce. The only thing lacking was that I felt it wasn't enough. Plus It seemed like I had more bread as opposed to meat. Mac & Cheese was great also, it was soft and creamy plus it had crunchy bits. It had the consistency of valveeta cheese. We asked for the check, we waited, waited some more so I finally went to the bar and closed the tab that I didn't order drinks with, just food. I like the vibe, its like being in a classic tattoo studio with posters on the wall with classical prints from different time periods. Not a big establishment or room inside but just enough to have a modest amount of 30 people. It's a nice joint but not really for me, I'd probably order through Uber eats with this place.

I'm a big fan of breweries, especially those with several drinks on draught or tap, and if they're really good, I'll buy them in a bottle. However, I read their review and noticed that they had vegan and vegetarian options, so I thought, "You know what? That's a combination I can't resist. Beers with a delicious sandwich!" A few days later, I made plans to visit on Saturday, which happened to be one of the two days this year that it snowed in the Pirec. It was quite amusing with the parking and the snow that stuck everywhere. As soon as I walked in, the bar was buzzing with energy. It had a great vibe. I didn't think I'd get any seats, but I managed to snag one at the bar with a very friendly person. I spent all but about 3 to 4 hours there. The sandwich I ordered was called the Rainier, and it was mentioned in the review, but the name wasn't revealed. It consists of a field roast loaf, Chao vegan cheese, herbed vegan mayonnaise, tomato, red onion, and arugula on sourdough bread. I'm not a big fan of mayonnaise, even if it's vegan, so I swapped it out with some pesto-style creamy cheese, and it turned out even better than I expected. The sandwich was a perfect five out of five. I would definitely order it every time I come. It came with a side of chips, which was a great addition. The sandwich was massive, so I could only eat half of it. I took the other half home for the next day. For my beers, I'm a big stout-and-porter guy, so I went with the Fort George's. They had two options: the Salted Caramel Cavatica & Matryoshka Vanilla. Both were exceptionally flavorful and probably my favorite porters I've had in all of Washington and many other states. Unfortunately, they ran out of the Salted Caramel Cavatica, so I ended up drinking the Matryoshka Vanilla for the rest of the night and didn't mind at all. Overall, I had a fantastic time at this place. I'm definitely going to make it a regular stop in my monthly rotations around Tacoma. Highly recommend stopping by this place. It's definitely a five.
