One of my new favorite places! I'm so happy to find a vegan spot that serves Sunday Brunch in the Hilltop area! I've been vegan for approx 2 years and have yet to have pancakes as good as Quickie Too's. They almost always have cookies and cake available and I love how many cookie options they have. Their regular menu is amazing, with so many options. It was almost too difficult to choose because everything sounded exquisite. I got a milkshake (which is the best vegan milkshake I've ever had), a tofustrami wrap that came with rice and beans, and a order of fries. When I came in on a Saturday afternoon, the place was poppin'! Which is a good sign, giving that Quickie Too is a small business. You will need to be patient if it's busy, but you won't mind because the place is cozy and it has a welcoming atmosphere and the food is to die for. I came in on Sunday March 15th with my group of friends for brunch, and we were the only party in the restaurant until the local churches got out and the place was getting busy. Which is another good sign, to me. We were in and out in an hour, which is impressive timing for a group of four especially when you know the food is prepared to order. Overall 11/10. First time eating here, first time ever eating a complete vegan meal, and I'm sold. Let me first say that the reviews here talking anything about how this area is 'unsafe' must be written by white folks not comfortable with diversity. Do not let those reviews deter you from visiting a Vegan Black Owned business in the Hilltop area of Tacoma! I said what I said. Now, onto my food. I ordered the Jamaican burger, gluten free, with fries (not gluten free, no separate fryer, I'll risk it.) Flavorful. A little spice. A little sweet. What WAS all that goodness layered on my bun?! Delicious, really. Each bit was consistent, no weird textures, or after taste. It was well put together so it didn't make a huge mess as I ate it in my car. Fries, fine. We finally had a chance to try Quickie Too and it did not disappoint at all! At this point we have probably had at least five or six orders. My husband and I are switching to a more plant based diet so having a vegan restaurant in our area is great! Right now QT is only doing take out so we used their order mechanism on their website which worked well and didn't add on fees like UberEats or DoorDash does even if it's for pick up. Their system sends a text when your order is ready and you can pull up to their drive through window for pickup. On their website it says that the orders can take up to an hour but we have never had to wait that long. Every time our food was hot and well packaged with condiments. We've had several of the "burgers". The Jamaican burger is our favorite! The potato salad and plantain on the burger was messy but so, so good. The "burger" is smoked tofu. On its own it's tofu but in the bun with everything else the texture and taste is so yum! Great french fries!!! My husband has had the chimichanga, we've had the fish sandwich, the Friday night fish fry, the TV dinner, the chicken dinner and their cookies. Can't forget the mac n' yease and greens!!! For those reading the review and getting confused...all those items are vegan and plant based. The quality of food and portions are really great! We are out-of-state vegans and were looking for sit-down vegan restaurants. We skipped this place the first few days because it's takeout only. Boy did we miss out. We finally ordered and picked up food to take back to the hotel. The club sandwich meal and the southern something with mashed potatoes with gravy, mac and cheese and greens were amazing. The best thing by far was the macaroni. It is soooooooo yummy. My babies ate their bowl in like 2 minutes! The burgers are also really tasty. Ya jammin'? Yes!!! I popped into this Rasta-vibin' spot for a quick to-go lunch order. While I did call ahead, the service was fast, efficient, and tasty. The tofu steak sandwich was a hearty option with fresh and plentiful fillings. It had a unique flavor profile that I can't place and have had before. The downside was the low quality yellow mustard, which would be fine, but not at welcome at this price point. The sweet potato fries were excellent and did a decent job at traveling, but the side of hot sauce was just throwing in the box without a lid. We had the Crazy Jamaican Burger with sweet potato fries (so yum!!) and the Lover's Club TLT sandwich. Of course we had to get a side of the Mac and Yease plus a sugar cookie. First time here and the the service was amazing. They talked us through the menu and gave us options for our toddler. Sweet treats- the chocolate chip cookies are amazing among the best I have ever had ( my wife's, then Whole Foods and now this place). Additionally we ordered a strawberry vegan milkshake that was so good! Food- was a bit slow to come out but they were very busy and it was close to closing time. The Mac and Yest is amazing!!! One of my favorite Mac and "cheeses" we have tried! We also ordered the southern comfort plate and the hoagie. The hoagie was good but the flavor was a bit bland compared to the giant pickle that was on it. But once we got passed the pickle it was good. It came with a side of rice and beans that the rice was a bit chewy and the beans a bit spicy but overall the plate was very pleasant. The southern comfort plate was amazing the main focus of the plate tasted a bit more meatloafy with a light gravy, but it did not disappoint. It was amazing! Price- for the two main entree the side of Mac and yeast 3 cookies a brownie a lemonade and the milkshake came to $62ish but we do have leftovers of the hoagie, Mac and sweet treats. Gluten-free available. Not that it is my preference, but I read a comment down below. The menu has a symbol recognizing the gluten-free options. Looks kind of shabby from the outside but the inside is do-able. Kind of pricey in my opinion. But since I have never been to a vegan restaurant, maybe vegan dishes tend to be at the higher end. I loved the atmosphere and environment! That is hands down worth the 5 stars in itself. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy if you're an outsider, otherwise if you're use to those type of neighborhoods, which I am, it was perfectly fine.The parking lot was pretty small and tight. Not too many parking spaces unfortunately, but it was manageable enough. Inside had a very soulful and homely feel to it. The music was blasting Angie Stone, which I did not mind at all lol. My boss loves to eat here and invited me to breakfast with her, but unfortunately our server told us my service dog was not allowed. That "a dog is a dog is a dog" and if "-I let one in, everyone might start bringing their dogs." Mind you, my boss and I run a dog training company, we train service dogs all the time, and mine is a perfectly behaved young lady. So it wasn't my dogs behavior. I understand if they're having trouble with fake service dogs, and it is legal for you to ask if it is a service dog, and ask a service dog to leave if it is behaving inappropriately and inhibiting the business to function as normal. No problem - ordered a BBQ pizza and a veggie wrap which took 35 minutes :-( The wrap was alright but I would skip the pizza. It was probably 2 pounds of sauce 1lb of seitan and 1lb of cheese/dough. After reading the description, I was excited to experience the food in this menu. I ordered the Fremont Philly and Homeade Gourmet Greens. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed. The texture of the Seitan within the roll was that of soaked bread inside of a roll. The flavors were unremarkable and the onions and peppers were sparse. The Homeade Greens were surprisingly bland and had an odd taste and aroma that was very unpleasant. We tried two spoonfuls and gave up in the same way we abandoned the Philly. I must admit that I am somewhat spoiled by the quality and variety of vegan fare I can regularly find in Portland. However, I cannot in good conscience recommend this to anyone. read more

I adore Quickie Too. I have contemplated moving across the country for Quickie Too. I give 5 stars just for the phenomenal vegan chocolate shake and the vegan hush puppies. Quickie Too gets the imaginary 6th star for all the other amazing food. Every meal I have had here has comforted me as only true comfort food does. The flavors will blow your mind as will the endless options. No one can say vegans sacrifice good food after they come here. The atmosphere is funky and fits with the Tacoma neighborhood. The service is sometimes on the slower side as there are rarely more than two people working. The staff are always nice and pleasant to talk to and they really put everything into their food. At times when they are busy they will run out of certain items but they tell you upfront. No need to fret if this happens as literally anything else on the menu will be great. Staples for every visit (in my humble opinion) are: - Mac and yease (do not leave without it) - hush puppies - mashed potatoes and gravy - chocolate or Mexican chocolate shake Just a side note about the shake. I am still dumbfounded by how good it is. It is even better than most dairy shakes I have tried. I truly adore this establishment. If I could eat like this everyday and not feel guilty then I would come every week. I've been a total of 3 times now and plan on going again soon. But this review will be about my sit-in experience. Let's start with the service. I've only ever seen one waitress there. I can't remember her name but she is the cutest, sweetest, kindest, this could go on but I'll stop. I went in with my son to specifically order The Mac and Yease. It is THEE ABSOLUTE BEST plant based Mac and cheese that I've EVER had! It was so thick, creamy, and a little crispy. It was so good that I just started ordering shit lmao! it was so good that I called my sister and told her to get there right away lol. I ordered a side of fries for my son and I'm typically not a small fry type of person but these fry's were good. I ordered a lemonade with agave and it was perfect! I went through the menu and decided on the Fremont philly. Now see I'm the type of person that I need mayo on my sandwich, I don't care what type of sandwich it is. I need mayo on it lol so I requested the mayo. Let me take a break from this story to tell you about the younger woman who is a cook. When I ordered my lemonade I first asked if they had any juice and her response was a smart "I don't make juice" but I think she sensed the tone it because she quickly corrected it and informed me of the lemonade. (FYI I make homemade apple JUICE with my juicer and no added ingredients...anyways back to the review). It's important that I informed you of this exchange because when I requested mayo on my Fremont philly her response was "this sandwich doesn't usually come with mayo" to which I responded "I'm aware, I would like mayo" she said okay and then I got my philly....with no mayo...smh...when my waitress came back I requested the mayo and she brought it quickly (love her!). The philly itself was AMAZING!!! The bell peppers weren't over cooked and the seitan was well seasoned and the onions were good as well. My son even grabbed it and started eating it lol. When my sister arrived she ordered the street tacos and chili cheese fries. She is not vegan and her exact words were "if I can eat vegan food like this I would go vegan". She was telling a damn lie lol but she did love the food!! And so did my son. The red beans and rice and greatly seasoned and the greens are delicious as well. The only thing we didn't like was the chocolate chip cookie. It was dry in all honesty. My son rarely turns down sweets so when he denied the cookie I tasted it and understood why. But that was literally the only thing. So why 4 instead of 5 right? Food is 5/5. Waitress 5/5. Service from waitress 5/5. Service in general? I'm going to say about a 2. Due to what I stated above about the juice and mayo. One thing I will say is that I don't think they really like to make changes to their menu items. I went another time after this for mac and yease to go and it was DELICIOUS of course! I went again (I know lol but they were spaced out) and ordered the mac and yease (of course) with mashed potatoes and gravy and an Egyptian Yerba Mate. I opted to drive to the location only to find the doors locked with a sign to place a mobile order. However the site doesn't tell you how long they will take for your food to be ready only that they will text you when it's ready. There was a worker inside and he continued going about his way. This place serves EXCELLENT vegan food! I ordered the Friday Night Fish Fry. It came with a salad and their signature Mac and Yease. First off, it actually tasted just like fish. It had the texture of crispy fried fish, it was very well seasoned. The Mac and yease tasted just like Mac and cheese which was soo great because I'be had a hard time finding vegan Mac and cheese. It was a bit greasier than I expected but still delicious. Parking is decent, there are dedicated parking spaces on either side of the restaurant. I went during peak time and was still able to find parking. Service was excellent! My server was warm and congenial. My only qualm is the fact that their bathroom is located at the back of their restaurant and in order to enter it you have to go outside. There is only one stall which means you'd have to wait outside to enter ; you also have to take a key to open it. So if you don't have to use the restroom, you'll definitely enjoy this little cafe even if you aren't vegan! read more

The food here is great. Very greasy and not healthy at all though. There's an incredible assortment of vegan soul food options, lots of yummy sandwiches, milkshakes, and vegan meats you can buy and take home to put in your own dishes. I'm giving them a low rating for several reasons, however. The service is meh. I feel like every time I come here we either have to wait a really long time for the food (to go AND sit down), orders get mixed up, or the staff just isn't very friendly or welcoming. Not rude or anything like that just lacking that welcoming vibe ( you know, a smile, catering to your table, checking to see if anything is needed a couple minutes after the food's been served). I used to be a waitress and these are the things I look for when I go out to eat. When you go to a restaurant you aren't just paying for the food, you're paying for the experience so it's important to provide a good experience for your customers. Not getting that makes me feel like spending my money where I'll get the food as well as the experience. I really want to give you guys a better rating, Quickie Too, but you gotta make some adjustments there. Another thing we have to talk about. The bathroom. It goes back to that little talk we had about the experience. 75% of people polled said they WOULD NOT return to a restaurant with a dirty bathroom. And this one is beyond dirty and poorly maintained. There was a big old dried blood stain dripping down the front of the toilet seat, the front door had what looks like to be dirt or poop smeared on the bottom of the bathroom door (their bathroom is out back) just under the door knob, and there was a big nasty bug inside the stall once I got into the bathroom. Based on the reviews I had to try this place out while I was in town. I'm not sure what the building was before it was a restaurant but it's strange that the restrooms outside behind the restaurant. I mention this first because a customer asked for the key to go around back when I walked in. The restaurant is in need of some loving care so I was a little skeptical about the food, but I again thought of the reviews. When I walked in no one greeted me until I flagged someone down and asked where to seat. My server was friendly. I asked him what he recommended and he pointed out several sandwiches but his favorite was the Tofu Steak Sandwich. It certainly was not my first choice, but I decided to leave it in his hands and so I ordered that sandwich and lemonade. Based on the reviews I knew it would take awhile so I sat back and relaxed. It was about 20 minutes before my big sandwich and beans and rice arrived. The Tofu Steak actually looked like steak and not tofu at all. I took a bite and was in heaven. It was so good--the best tofu I have ever had. I'm sure it was the gravy that they put on it and was so tempted to ask for the recipe. The rice and beans were also tasty. Surprisingly, my server didn't ask how it was or asked if I wanted a refill on my drink. He saw that I finished my meal and put my check on the table with out a word.
