I'm from Florida and only visit Tacoma once a year, but first stop is always Happy Belly. Not only is the staff always super nice, everything on the menu is not only delicious but genuinely healthy. You leave feeling full and actually good afterward. Their restaurant also has a little shop inside with items for sale from locals which is cute. If you're in Tacoma and want food that tastes great and makes you feel great, Happy Belly is the spot!

Mushroom coffee + oat milk = surprisingly delicious And this sandwich... packed with flavor and honestly perfect.

I let the cashier choose my meal today and she did not disappoint! The mushroom coffee has a very mild taste, but with oat milk it was surprisingly delicious. The sandwich was full of flavor and absolutely perfect for me. So glad I trusted the recommendation!

my husband and I have been wanting to try this restaurant for sometime. We finally got an opportunity and they did not miss the food was great. The only fuzzy thing that I would say, is that when we arrived as we stood at the counter for at least five minutes before someone came over to acknowledge us. I decided to give them some grace because they did look busy and we really wanted to try their food. The ambience is super cool love to be there once they took our order. They were very friendly so yeah I would recommend this for you to go pretty good food.

Delicious green smoothie and I'm obsessed with the fact that I can drink my hylauronics and collagen! With a super friendly staff! I am from the Bay and have no smoothie options that offer this much luck to their business! I will definitely come back when I am back in WA!

I'm not sure there are enough letters in the alphabet for me to express how much I LOVE this little restaurant/cafe. I stumbled upon it while on lunch and decided I would stop in for a bite to eat. The first thing I noticed was the positive welcoming vibes and the great atmosphere this place offers. There are about 12-14 bistro style tables inside and a few tables outside as well. After taking a few minutes to review the menu I settled on the vegan egg sandwich and the Bacon Caesar salad. I ordered at the counter and found my seat moments later. Service was wonderfully kind and everything I ordered was bursting with flavor. I honestly cannot wait to go again.

I love healthy Happy Belly! Don't get me wrong, if you want to be decadent, you can be as indulgent as you desire. I just ordered the level up smoothie. I was amazed and with over 40 grams of protein, it made my daily requirement a lot easier to achieve. It tasted incredibly delicious. I really want to try their specialized 3day juice detox fast but I will check with my nutritionist since I have special needs The staff, their standards, the environment, and their willingness to modify an order are all Outstanding. Please stop by or call in an order. Lunchtime gets packed, so place the order early. Support local businesses good people. We don't need another chain of fast processed food designed to tear down our bodies.

A comparison to another locally owned businesses that sells drinks and food in a bigger space. This place (in the photo) gives all its proceeds to sheltering homeless youth. Be intentional with you dollar and value who values you.

This is a wonderful and beautiful place. As a first timer to Washington, I wasn't sure what I would find. I walked for over an hour to every nearby coffee shop looking for somewhere to eat that offered gluten-free options. Just as I was ready to give up, I saw Happy Belly right at the end of the list on Yelp, peeked at their menu, and almost ran because I was so excited. I ordered an iced sweet matcha (one of the best matchas I've had), and a turkey cranberry sandwich on GF bread. I was speechless. It was one of the best meals I've had. It is so rare to find a place to eat where I feel safe eating and don't have to second guess whether I'm being glutened. The energy in here is just beautiful and I am so thankful that I found this place before giving up, it's one of those places that I'll be thinking about long after I have to end my trip here. The service was top tier. The owner, Jennifer, has beautiful, positive energy, and she is so welcoming. Sitting inside felt so peaceful and intentional-- something you just don't get in standard restaurants or coffee shops. Their menu is labeled for GF/DF/Soy free/Vegan making it so easy and safe to really know what you're ordering. If one of those things is part of your diet, you will have so many choices! I love Happy Belly, and I hope I can return for my next few meals before I depart. Thank you for being here, and offering atmosphere and food that is welcoming, safe, and sure did make my belly happy!

This place and the food here lives up to its name ! Eat at Happy Belly and your belly will be happy! I've gotten several different items off the menu ranging from sandwiches to salads to soups to smoothies to baked goodies and I'm satisfied with the taste and quality of the food as well as the service 99% of the time. I really love the sweet and spicy bacon ceaser salad, the red pepper kale soup which is served with a roll and delicious herb butter spread, just about any of the chocolate smoothies and the strawberry rhubarb muffin but it's been a while since I've been in and I noticed two new menu items so I decided to give them a try: spinach apple salad and the Moon magick smoothie! Both items were insanely good! I asked for some additions/modifications to the salad and the employees were happy to help. It normally comes with a blue cheese dressing and I am not a fan of moldy cheese so they were able to substitute that out for a lemon oregano vinaigrette and I added chicken and avocado at an additional charge. It was so beautiful it made my skin tingle and the flavors and textures caused positive explosions of saliva in my mouth ! The moon magick smoothie was simply, well, magical! Between the caocao, cinnamon, coconut, collagen , peanut butter, ginger, dandelion and beets It was equally delicious and flavorful! It's pretty spendy but I always feel like I'm making a healthier choice when I choose to come here over the other restaurants around the area and because of that I will always show my support for Happy Belly !

We saw this little sandwich shop we hadn't seen before and decided to check it out. The atmosphere is very nice, casual, and comfortable. It looks like it would be good to sit and do homework, have lunch with some friends, or go to a casual brunch with family. There are lots of seating choices: a couch and comfy chairs, high tables and stools, and regular tables. One table had a puzzle started you could work on and there were lots of games and books you could use. You order at the counter, they deliver food to your table and there is a place to bus your own table. The beverage menu included coffee and alcoholic beverages. They offered sandwiches, crepes, pastries and soup. We ordered coffee, a pastry, soup, and order of crepes to be eaten there. The coffee was fine served in a nice mug. The cookie was large but packaged in a plastic bag that would have been ok if we had been a to go order. But we were eating there so we either had to put it directly on the table or on the plastic bag. The tomato soup was very tasty, creamy with a little kick of spice. It had occasional chunks of tomato and visible pieces of basil. All of this goodness was overshadowed because it was served in a small ramekin, the type cooks use to portion food when they are preparing a recipe. It appeared we were getting a large taste of soup instead of a cup of soup. For some reason I assumed the savory crepes would be fresh and warm, but instead my order was made with premade cold crepes loosely wrapped around the mostly cheese filling. Taken as a whole we left disappointed. The atmosphere was nice enough that I will try this place again and try something else. I hope for better because it looks like it could be a great place to eat and hang with friends.

But then we looked cross the street on 1st, where there used to be an Anthem, and even though it was already 6pm, this sandwich shop was still open and...there was a BINGO game happening. Whaddya know? So we took a peak in and they were not only serving sandwiches but they also had a cooler full of microbrews and kombuchas, beer on tap, wine, and a whole list of cocktails made from prosecco and other non-hard liquors like Amaro. Truly something for everyone. So we gave our order to the sweet human at the counter and took our seats I'm not kidding, my Amaro sour was one of the best cocktails I've had in a while in Tacoma and so were the pretzel sticks. I want my cocktails cold, tart, and refreshing with a little kick of funk or herbs and I want my pretzels salty. You wouldn't think that's such a high bar to clear but you'd be surprised. Sandwich Starr nailed it. Our Zatan sandwich was tasty but even though the bread felt a little stale. Otherwise the decor is kinda '90s coffee house and they've got bingo! Overall, this is an odd spot but the drinks are really good and it's got heart and it's the heart that makes it Tacoma.

No welcome or anything or a "hey just sit anywhere you want". So I just took initiative, grabbed a menu and sat at an empty table. There's a sign that said "order at the bar" but the barkeep would go to other people and ask what they wanted. Okay, that's fine... Trying to follow the rules so I don't single myself out, I went to the bar and was asked for my ID, but why? I wasn't ordering drinks and when other people came, the barkeep didn't ask the other customers for their ID so I felt some type of way but whatever. We proceed to order the Philly and Mac & Cheese. Philly tasted great because it also came with dipping sauce. The only thing lacking was that I felt it wasn't enough. Plus It seemed like I had more bread as opposed to meat. Mac & Cheese was great also, it was soft and creamy plus it had crunchy bits. It had the consistency of valveeta cheese. We asked for the check, we waited, waited some more so I finally went to the bar and closed the tab that I didn't order drinks with, just food. I like the vibe, its like being in a classic tattoo studio with posters on the wall with classical prints from different time periods. Not a big establishment or room inside but just enough to have a modest amount of 30 people. It's a nice joint but not really for me, I'd probably order through Uber eats with this place.

I'm a big fan of breweries, especially those with several drinks on draught or tap, and if they're really good, I'll buy them in a bottle. However, I read their review and noticed that they had vegan and vegetarian options, so I thought, "You know what? That's a combination I can't resist. Beers with a delicious sandwich!" A few days later, I made plans to visit on Saturday, which happened to be one of the two days this year that it snowed in the Pirec. It was quite amusing with the parking and the snow that stuck everywhere. As soon as I walked in, the bar was buzzing with energy. It had a great vibe. I didn't think I'd get any seats, but I managed to snag one at the bar with a very friendly person. I spent all but about 3 to 4 hours there. The sandwich I ordered was called the Rainier, and it was mentioned in the review, but the name wasn't revealed. It consists of a field roast loaf, Chao vegan cheese, herbed vegan mayonnaise, tomato, red onion, and arugula on sourdough bread. I'm not a big fan of mayonnaise, even if it's vegan, so I swapped it out with some pesto-style creamy cheese, and it turned out even better than I expected. The sandwich was a perfect five out of five. I would definitely order it every time I come. It came with a side of chips, which was a great addition. The sandwich was massive, so I could only eat half of it. I took the other half home for the next day. For my beers, I'm a big stout-and-porter guy, so I went with the Fort George's. They had two options: the Salted Caramel Cavatica & Matryoshka Vanilla. Both were exceptionally flavorful and probably my favorite porters I've had in all of Washington and many other states. Unfortunately, they ran out of the Salted Caramel Cavatica, so I ended up drinking the Matryoshka Vanilla for the rest of the night and didn't mind at all. Overall, I had a fantastic time at this place. I'm definitely going to make it a regular stop in my monthly rotations around Tacoma. Highly recommend stopping by this place. It's definitely a five.
