The staff are very rude!!! Front office staff are very rude and unprofessional. Not only don't they say hello but they don't greet you back when you say hi. In my experience, a lot of medical labs are bad and this one is no exception. They recommend that you make an appointment, but this is a joke - why would I bother making an appointment at 11 if they are not going to see me until 11:50? (not to mention that it takes all of 5 minutes to get my blood drawn.) The waiting room is always packed and horrible. This place is just poorly run and I dread going. My advice is if you need to go here, make an appointment for early in the morning. I did this once and was in and out of there in about 20 minutes. No matter what, I would NEVER go to this place without an appointment - I'm pretty sure walk-ins have to wait for hours. The people who work there are nice enough, however. read more

There are two Quest labs with nearly identical addresses, one at 4050 Barranca (near Mimi's and Islands off Culver) and one at 4950 Barranca (near Carl's Jr. off Creek). The reviewers who posted the scathing comments couldn't be talking about the lab at 4050. I had an appointment at 9:30. I got there 15 minutes early since I didn't know what to expect. With paperwork, three blood samples and a urine sample, I was out of there and back in my car at 9:44, and it was only that long because it took me a while to produce the urine sample. The people were polite. My phlebotomist was a very sweet woman. I heard some of the other phlebotomists talking to their patients, and they seemed courteous and professional as well. The people at the front counter were pleasant enough. No grounds for complaints here. Again, this is a review for the lab off Barranca and Culver in the Islands/Mimi's center, not the lab off Barranca and Creek. read more

Come here on a Tuesday, 5 mins before it opened and there was already 10 people ahead of me. By 8:30 am the room was already full of people. All in all it took about 1 hour, including a 30-40 min wait. The technician was a very nice lady who made the process quick and painless. I only have a tiny mark on my arm, no bruising. read more

I arrived today, at 8am and was told "Only appointments " were being taken and "this started today". I called the appointment number I was given and the recording was stating Peace of Mind program. I informed Jennifer at the 4050 barranca parkway, irvine location recording still announcing Peace of Mind program for "VIP service". She repeated three times "appointment only". I asked to speak with a supervisor, Patricia came out to explain "appointments only" letting me know signs were posted INSIDE stating so and they have no control over what corporate tells them to do. Needless to say, I received the worse service, it was not busy at all and I believe the time they spent repeating themselves my labs could already have been drawn!!!! Due to my immunocompromised state, I needed the labs this morning before I start medication tomorrow. There was no room for understanding or empathy from the staff. Luckily, my PCP is in the same building. I explained my bad experience with Quest downstairs and they were able to draw my labs to send downstairs to Quest. Horrible, terrible, rude service at this location. To top it off, I am a healthcare provider and was disgusted to know that patients after me will be turned away and treated due to the lack of understanding and lack of communication of a new rule that started this morning!!! read more

First I want to say that my phlebotomist, Elizabeth, was awesome. I am a hard stick, but she is always able to get my blood drawn. The problem I have with Quest is their website. They never posted my blood test results nor is there a number to contact them. I sent them several messages through their website with no response. I needed to get the results to take to my doctor. Very frustrating having to deal with their website and lack of response. If I could go to another lab, I would, but my insurance only allows this lab. I have never experienced such horrible service. Being in the medical field as well, it's so important to exhibit friendliness and empathy especially towards people that are dealing with any type of medical discomfort or stress. The front office staff was rude and belligerent - with the most awful attitudes. There is not a TV or even 1 magazine to make the wait more bearable. All you have to listen to is Indian songs sang by the site lead or complaining about her job from the other phlebotomist/front office person. All within earshot of how she can't wait for this day to be over and to go home. Incredibly unprofessional! I was treated like some worthless junkie opposed to a miserable pregnant woman just trying to get through another unpleasant pregnancy lab draw. I will never be back and shame on them for their bedside manner. I only hope one day they can be in my care and then I can be the one to display such complete lack of empathy and humanity as they did with me. read more

This place is a travesty of our healthcare system. There is absolutely no privacy in this "factory." I went in for fasting blood work. Half way through, I told the guy I needed to lie down because I was going to get sick/pass out. He and the only other person working in the office (there were at least 15 people waiting and only 2 employees working) helped me to a room. Five seconds after he left the room he busted out laughing and said, "JESUS CHRIST." I heard him, and the entire waiting room heard him. I was mortified. Then they left me in the room. No one came to check on me. This place is an absolute joke. I'm a healthy male, in for a normal physical. I feel so sorry for anyone who might visit this place while they are sick/scared, etc. read more

This Quest is at the address 4050 barranca. Upon calling and talking to this location a man there told me to just come on in the next day and dont worry about an appointment as they are not required. So thinking he knew what he was talking about, I came in before lunch around 10:45. It didnt seem too crowded, but the VERY unfriendly woman behind the desk seemed to have disgust for my non-appointment situation and told me I would be waiting for about an hour. The lesson learned about Quest...always make an appointment and be careful about the bad attitute employees. read more

The front office staff named Bridgette is extremely rude. I had to drop off a specimen and was rudely asked to sign my name, she did not even know what I came in for, maybe to ask for hours of operation, or any other question. After signing my name, while I was just standing there waiting for her to ask me what I came in for, she said, sit down, I have a patient right now. After I drop off my specimen, and asked for a receipt because that is what the other lab told me is to ask for a receipt, she said, I have been working here for 10 years and we do not give out receipts. My last several times at this lab, there was only one tech drawing blood during lunchtime, meaning there's a wait even with an appointment. The last time, the tech was in a rush and bumped the needle around in my arm as the blood was being drawn. I had nerve pain in my arm for more than week and lots of bruising. read more

Horrible service. Full of inconvenience. They say they open at 7:30 but their staff actually arrives at 8. Whoever is setting up the staff schedules I had very poor and inefficient skills. If you are planning on going to work after your lab test you should pick a different location. This is the poorest location I have ever been to amongst all the quest diagnostic locations, and Trust me , I've tried quite a few. I'm never coming back here again. They should close this down. Got here when it opened at 7:30am--I knew there would be a wait so gave myself 2 hours as I had another appointment at 10am. What a mistake. Only one person working until 8am. Another person comes at 8:30am. Woefully understaffed and slow. By 9:30am, there were still 5 people in front of me so I had to leave--what a waste of 2 hours for nothing!!! They don't have time to deal with your questions as they are too busy. I've been to more crowded lab stations that were much more efficient and friendly. Even with an appointment expect to wait. Above, it says closed on Saturdays, not true at 8am there were 35 people ahead of me on a list and here on a Saturday. Luckily I had a timed test so it only took a half hour wait for me to get my first blood draw and have to sit here for two more hours. Quest should really open up more sites at least more on Saturday since making an appointment can be a month out. What happened to healthcare that took your blood draws right in their offices? No hand sanitizer at desk and with 35+ people (probably beyond occupancy limits by law) in the waiting room and half the people coughing, this place is a germ haven! I pay over $1,000 a month thru my work for an Aetna HMO that makes me sit thru this mess. read more

I came with my son 2 weeks ago for his routine yearly lab tests. My turn came after waiting for more than 2 hours. Then I got a call after one week that they forgot (missed) doing one test and asked me to come back and he will be taken care of it right away since it's their mistake. I came today and waited for more than an hour and after that they called my name and said I couldn't find his order and please call the doctor to fax it over again. I told them that my son has a class staying at 9:00 am and would appreciate if they take care of him first but the lady said sorry we can't we are short of staff ( since when it's our responsibility to wait hours if they are short of staff). The staff is horrible here and the manager was extremely rude. My insurance pays lots of money towards these services and they should have treat their patients professionally. HORRIBLE experience at this Quest Diagnostics. My phlebotomist, Patricia, was angry, rushing and very volatile. I have worked in doctor's offices for 6 years, and I know the pressure is high and patients get rowdy but I have never seen a medical professional behave the way Patricia did. I went in, gave my forms to the front office staff (who also happen to be other Phlebotomists) and everything was taken care of. I waited for 25 minutes until I was called up by the phlebotomist for my physicians phone number so they could get authorization for a Cortisol Baseline test. I gave the phone number to that phlebotomist and went back to sit down. Another phlebotomist ran back in from her lunch break and called me up -- this phlebotomist was Patricia. She told me to sit down and began asking me what labs I needed done, all while she was holding lab forms in her hand. At that point it was evident she had no patience and before I could even register what she was asking me, she began berating me regarding how the Cortisol Baseline test needed to be authorized if I were to take it after 9 am. I am not a doctor, and I am not a phlebotomist. I can't give authorization and I was given 0 directions in regards to my lab tests, so I told her that the other phlebotomist was going to call my doctor for the authorization. Patricia became visibly annoyed and told me to call my physicians office for her immediately and get the information. I called my physician's office for her all while she asked treated me as if I were a child. The staff had taken a copy of my insurance form and without even looking for it, Patricia huffed and puffed about how I was on MediCal - which I am not, I am Blue Cross PPO - and told me to stay on the phone but to get my insurance card out. By the time I pulled it out, she had found the sheet that the Quest staff had made a copy of my insurance on and yelled at me to "forget looking for your card, I found it, just stay on the phone! Get the contact name!" That was the second time in that 10 minute exchange that I felt so uncomfortable I wanted to get my lab sheets back and leave. I was already on the phone with my physician's office, though, so when I got a hold of my physician and asked the question that Patricia wanted me to ask, they informed me that there was not authorization needed -- the labs had been given as is and the Cortisol Baseline test was to be done like the others. Patricia literally snatched my cellphone from my hand in order to yell at my doctor about how busy she was -- and I quote, "Oh my LORD I need a yes or a no answer, I don't have all day! We are very busy...oh GOD you're just not getting it are you?!" and hung up on my doctor. Shaken, confused and quite frankly, a little scared, I promptly requested my lab forms back and told her I was extremely uncomfortable getting my blood drawn by her after the way she was yelling at me and then yelling at my doctor and his staff. I left so shocked that one of the other staff members in the hall came over and apologized for Patricia's behavior. I'm still in disbelief. If you go here, DON'T go to Patricia. read more
