I forgot to get my blood tests done for an appointment with my doctor next week so I had to go online last night to make an appointment with quest. I was lucky to have an available time. I arrived at 9:15am for my 9:20am appt. I checked in on the kiosk and on my phone. I wasn't called in until 9:41am. Once I was in, Amanda was very efficient. I went to Quest just to drop off a urine sample. I wasn't getting blood drawn or seeing anyone--I literally just needed to hand them a sample. Instead, I was told I had to check in as a regular patient and wait for an opening before they could accept it. How does it make sense that dropping off a sample takes the same process as a full appointment? It would take an employee less than a minute to take it. This is a huge waste of patients' time. There should be a separate, quick process for sample drop-offs. Until Quest changes this policy, don't expect a simple drop-off to be quick. read more

Usually my go to but this time had such a difficult experience. Made an appt online and showed up to check in prior to my appt. It was saying I wasn't in their system. Finally found a phlebotomist to speak with (there is no one in the front just one glitchy machine) and was told they have no record of my appt even though I showed my confirmation. Then was told to check in as standby. The machine was incredibly glitchy. I had to push every letter and number 10 times before it would register. Then even though my name was on the standby line the phlebotomist who came out said she has no one on her standby line - my name was on the screen in the waiting room. Blood draws are very anxiety provoking for me and a stressful experience like this just adds to the anxiety. It also seems that none of these reviews make any change in their process. Worst diagnostic center I've been to. Their screen stated 0 currently being served and the whole damn waiting room was empty for a solid 45 minutes. None of their staff checked to see if the waiting room had people. How long do I have to really wait for a damn blood draw right? The room then filled up with other people who also had to wait because they were waiting for the people who had appointments at a later time to get served when they could have served the people waiting on stand by WHILE there were "0 currently being served" as stated on their status screen in their CCTV system. read more

Do not take small children to this location at 15825 Laguna Canyon Rd Ste 108, Irvine, CA 92618. We have a 36lb 2 year old that they poked in both arms and eventually sent home with no blood being drawn. They blamed us and my 2 year old. Advice to Quest If you don't have someone on staff who can draw from a child don't allow for the appointment. We'll go elsewhere. read more

I've been to this location many times over the years. Everyone's been very friendly up until today. I had an appointment for the afternoon, but decided to come in the morning as a walk-in. For some reason, there's no one there besides the technicians. Once I was able to get a hold of one I was told I needed to cancel my appointment then wait thirsty minutes to be out on the walk in list.. I logged into my account and I'm not able to do that. I didn't receive a confirmation email. I tried to chat and that didn't work and called and there's no one to speak with. Needless to say, I'll be going to another company and won't return. Not sure why a computer is now replacing customer service. read more

Not sure why this is rated so poorly (compared to labcorp). I had a 11:40 appointment, out by 11:50. They took like 8 vials. Erick was a pro. They used a syringe with a flexible tube so when switching between vials the syringe doesn't move and wobble inside you (looking at you labcorp). read more

TLDR: Anyone considering going to Quest who is a Hoag patient, stop reading right now and go immediately to Hoag Outpatient Lab, where you will be treated with respect and your labs will be collected with care and professionalism. Oh how times have changed. Quest has decided that humans and reasonable customer service/science are no longer necessary to their line of business. They welcome you to the office with a shuttered front desk and an iPad. I was instructed by my daughter's doctor's office to take a sample collected at home to drop off at a Quest within one hour of collection. I didn't know when the collection would happen so I obviously had no appointment, and the time-sensitivity meant I couldn't just wait around as a standby. So I clicked around on the iPad and found the button that said "I have a sample to drop off". The iPad announced that it assigned me a number - 101 - and would get someone to help straight away. That obviously didn't happen, so in five minutes when a young woman who looked like she hated her job came out to grab an appointment patient, I asked her about dropping off an urgent sample. She promptly told me no sample is urgent (Really? Are you really in the medical field?) and said I needed to sign in, disappearing before I could explain that I did sign in. Ten minutes later I caught an older lady who seemed nicer but told me "You did the wrong thing" when I explained to her that I pressed the button that said exactly what I was here to do. The older lady offered to help - and came out after the younger lady came back out and patronized me about having to check in - but it turns out she was only coming out to help me check in for an over one hour wait, by which time my sample would have degraded to the point of uselessness. At that moment, I realized that there was simply no point trying to deal with this post-apocalyptic administrative hellscape where Quest has forced its technicians to be reception and process bots instead of focusing on their actual jobs. I went to Hoag Outpatient Lab, where there were three humans at the front waiting to help, and GASP they let me drop off the sample with some quick work transferring the lab order from Quest! I was in and out in 15 minutes. I have spent my entire career in technology and adore automation, but Quest has taken things to the point of utter inefficient insanity. The consultants who raided their business and told them they could save money by implementing this nonsense will drive this business to the ground and run away laughing with the fees when customers abandon the company to others who actually know how to run a business - like Hoag. read more

When someone does come out and you have an opportunity to ask a question, they curtly answer in the most annoyed tone a human can have with another human as they are walking away . I was at the Santa Ana location earlier this same day and they were so friendly, helpful and professional. Quest Diagnostics asked for all my information 3 times: 1. when I created the account online and scheduled the appointment, 2nd time when I checked in and 3rd time when I entered the room to take my blood. With all that time being wasted, no wonder the waiting room was full of people waiting and nobody was received on time. The Phlebotomist Rodgrigo lacks the required bedside manners for this job. When I asked why I'm being asked all information all over again the 3rd time, he replied snarky that I can leave if I don't like it. He acted rude for the remainder of the appointment. read more

Long wait even with an appointment. The tech poked me twice and lost the vein both times. When i was finally done (a new tech came), my first tech put tape directly over (no cotton pad) one of spots that she had poked before that was still bleeding! My blood soaked thru the tape so i had to rip the tape off my wound to put a paper towel over the spot myself. Go to any other location. read more

As with most quest locations, they don't have someone at the front desk. They do have the convenient app or online appointment system which allows you to check in on your phone when you get there, but if you have any questions or issues you have to wait for a tech calling for the next patient and flag them down. Related to that, once they call you in, they need to take your info and payment so that takes time where a front desk person could've taken care of that more efficiently. I had an appt and I didn't get called in until 30 minutes after that. The people there are nice, but I feel like Quest makes it difficult for them to be efficient and they have to deal with all the impatient people. read more

Great place with great caring staff. It was clean and everyone was friendly. I arrived early to secure a spot in line before it opened. Once in, I checked in and waited. They took me back and started looking over my info. Remember to bring your paper work as a backup. Sometimes codes aren't correct that your doc orders. I was there recently and I had scheduled my appointment online. I waited for a hour to be called in, once I was callled, the nurse totld me that they don't accept my insurance. I was very surprised, I told her I was just here 4months ago for my blood work and the did accept my insurance. She said well this time we don't. I told my doctor and she said that's impossible because she sends all of her patients that have the same insurance as me to Quest. This place is a dump. No receptionist present at all. Four measly chairs to sit in a very cramped space. One gentleman coughing up a lung in the waiting area. Definitely need to switch out of this place. Will definitely inform the doctor that no more blood testing at Quest. read more

FYI - they do NOT accept walk-ins. They are strictly appointment only. No one is ever at the front desk to assist you. There is a computer to check yourself in, and nothing else. If you have an appointment, things do go pretty smoothly. You can check in on your phone in the parking lot and they will text you when it's your turn. To sum it up, if you're thinking they accept walk ins like other places, you will be very disappointed and angry. If you have an appointment, it's smooth sailing. Be aware though - it's nearly impossible to get a same day appointment. So if you have urgent needs, LabCorp is your best bet. read more

This is by far one of the best locations. Efficient, quick and helpful. I had to drop off a sample here this morning and the staff remember was helpful and took it back to store it properly right away. I was worried it would be mishandled but they did a great job of understanding the needs of the sample. Also my mom prefer this location. She has small veins and they never hurt her. read more

I have scheduled appointments on line with Quest several times now and when I get there, their automated system has no record of my appointment. This is a colossal waste of my time to schedule, show up and have to leave because their system is so pathetic. I will never use Quest again. Recommend you go somewhere else also. read more

I'm a patient advocate and always search for best providers. This lab on Laguna Cyn, is the best Quest location in the area. The staff is very personable and caring. We usually don't bump into lines, and phlebotomists are very skilled. I'm glad that I found them. We used to go to the one on Barranca, and it's okay, but always very busy. read more

My mom had an appointment for two diff orders. The receptionist says which one do you want to do? We obviously want to do both in one visit. He said no you will faint. In the end they took only one vial. What a joke! You can donate a pint but you can't take more than one vial?! Pathetic. Now we have do it again. Waste of time. This is to share the wonderful tech at this location. Just before closing I rushed over to this location after I already waited at a different location (apparently they were out of stock for that test). The new kiosk was easy to use but it said I could not be a walk in, as it was too late. SARA came to the waiting area to greet another person and I asked her if they had the test here. I explained what happened and she simply said, "I will help you." Another tech, Kaylee also made sure a different person was taken care of when her appointment was not showing her info. The way they take patients back is a little wonky. Some people who had later appointments were taken back before those of us who had earlier appointments. But once I got to the back office, Kayla was my phlebotomist and she was A+ AWESOME!!! Super sweet, gentle with the poke and very friendly. I would have her do my lab draw again! Horrible experience. My wife and me both doing the bloodwork here for the first time. The same lady Ashly did the poking. She had no idea what she is doing. She couldn't get to the veins and complained no blood or slow dripping on both of us on both arms. Then she finally got the first tubes done then she trashed them saying they were bad samples. I am so sorry to the lady that helped my wife a couple weeks ago. I asked for her name, and completely forgot. I recall it sounded like a common American name with an 'a' at the end and spoke Spanish... I want to guess it was something like Laurena but could be completely off. I like to start that my wife totally does not like needles to the point that she gets extremely nauseated just seeing the needle. Even her first trip here, she was a bit woozy coming out and that was a good experience. We were just at a hospital for more samples, and she had a terrible experience like head on the counter afterwards. Which is actually what reminded to write this review. Sorry for the long background, but 'Laurena' was able to find her vein quickly and a single draw. We were in and out, and my wife had practically no post-trauma (first time I have witnessed this). When we got there, they require a doctor's order to start the tests. Quest did not have the order so couldn't accept my wife initially. After calling our doctor's office, they provided the order. After we left Quest, they sent another order. I don't know what happened, but there was significant delay between the two orders so Quest was unaware of the second request until after we left. 'Laurena' called us as soon as she found out. The look on my wife's face in hearing that she had to do another blood draw...... she was considering just going home and go back another day. I was able to convince her to go back (after driving another quarter of the way home). We went back, and there were much fewer people this time. We were able to go back in with 'Laurena' and again she was able to just draw my wife's blood. My wife with her eyes closed as usual was still clearly uptight during the procedure, but was surprised that it was done quickly. Again, my wife left relatively unfazed! Twice in a day! I know this may sound sensationalized, but just for this experience alone for me is worth 5 stars (and more) even more so after the hospital experience where they had to try 3 times for one draw. Or maybe I should consider posting another review for the second part of the trip... but that would just look too irregular. I don't know if we have just been lucky with the people we encountered, but our experiences (two times) have been positive here. read more
