After checking in on the kiosk (as I have at every other quest I've been to) I saw my name show up on the board. 10 minutes later, my name disappeared. I never even saw someone who worked there until 20 minutes after I showed up. I was told I signed in on the wrong spot and the "walk up list was on paper" next to the sign that says appointment only. Obviously, I thought that was for appointments. She said they had a list of walk ups and hadn't been able to accommodate them at all. I told her it needed to be more clear and she told me to "read the pamphlet where it states that." After waiting for about 10 minutes, a lady calls my name and another name and rudely said "We don't take walk-ins. Appointment only." The other guy started explaining his situation while I double checked their website on walk-in policy - Nothing stating No Walk-ins accepted. I understand if the lobby was filled with people but it was just me and the other guy there. Too long waiting. Either they are very slow or not enough employees. If you have appointment, it takes at least 30-45 min. If you walk in, it may take at least 1 hour to 2 hours waiting. I did not know this. This company has to improve its service for sure. read more

I found the process of trying to book an appointment with Quest Diagnostics through their generic phone number frustrating, so I resigned myself to a potentially long wait and drove to this location during my lunch break. The wait wasn't terrible. I saw that there were a few people seated already and consigned myself to spending my entire break there, but it seemed like they got through everyone relatively quickly and I was called in about 10-15 minutes. The phlebotomist I ended up getting was a very nice woman! I chatted amiably with her (partly to distract myself from getting my blood drawn, to be completely honest) and she was perfectly friendly in return. It was a no-frills kind of place, but I'm glad that I was able to get in and out quickly. I also don't seem to have more than the standard little yellow-green bruise that I get whenever I have bloodwork done, so perhaps I am lucky in that. My recommendation would be to go in the morning rather than the afternoon. Timing it so that you come in after people trying to get a test done before they have to go into work, and after people who are taking off early from their work day, seems to be the best course of action. I came in a little earlier than the facility takes their lunch hour and as said, the wait wasn't too bad at all. read more

I went in last week for a blood drawn appointment. The gal who drew my blood was Horiffic!!!! I explained that I had a lot of scar tissue on my right arm and it wouldn't be good. Well-----she insisted and stuck my right vein. Nothing was coming out and it was a horrible stabbing pain in my hand. She hit a nerve and I had to ask her to remove the needle. I asked nicely the first time. Then I had to yell at her Then she went in the same arm and left this lovely hematoma. She was/is terrible and shouldn't be working there. I arrived here as referred from the 45 minute wait at the Barranca location up the street to an empty office. I was relieved and thought I'd struck gold. I had to wait all of 5 minutes. Literally in and out in 10 (+1 star). So it was quick, hooray! Why two stars? I've got nerve damage to my vein from all the moving around that was done during my blood work. I'm sure this is a freak occurrence (and why you should read reviews rather than just looking at stars), but all the same, I'm set to endure 6 weeks of healing. Twitches, pinches, numbness, itchiness, and general pain spikes. It's not fun. Be sure to not let them move around that needle while they're filling those tubes. I didn't say anything thinking, surely she knows what she's doing. I'm going to be way more proactive about this sort of think in the future. It actually hurt during the process. I've been stuck a lot, was weird. Will I come back to this location? Based on the wait times at the others... probably, with fingers crossed and watching carefully. read more

Had blood drawn at Kaiser a few weeks ago and it was nothing like this there. Instantly felt bruising, soreness and then a dead arm after leaving the facility same day. If you don't even know how to draw blood and poke a vein properly, you don't deserve to be a nurse. I didn't think about checking Yelp before I came here because I just found any Quest Diagnostics online closest to my home. All I needed was a simple blood test for potassium. My nurse, Toni P, didn't know what she was doing. The gauze she used already touched the countertop. Not sanitary. When she poked my vein, blood was coming out of the hole even with the needle in. This has never happened before. While she was pulling the needle out, a bunch of blood started oozing out. This also has never happened before out of all the times I've gotten my blood drawn. Wanna see what my arm looks like now that I've taken the tape and gauze off? Prepare to be a little grossed out. I've added the photo below.. Fuck this place buncha amateurs. The people that work here got my respect. So my wife has been on me about going to the doctor's and making sure my fat lifestyle isn't going to kill me anytime soon. I finally make an appointment and after my physical, my doctor referred me to Quest to get some blood work done. I wasn't too excited about this... first I have to take off work to get violated... then I have to take off more time to get blood drawn. I hate needles and I hate blood. The reason why I respect the people here so much is because of their profession. I watched as a guy comes in, nonchalantly, comes in with a bag. He said he was dropping off specimen and the person at the front desk asks, "what is it?". "Stool", the patient says. Because of my immature sense of humor, I laughed. Then I started thinking about the lab folks dissecting his poo, while eating lunch and started to gag. I think it takes very special people to work here. The facility was easy to find and there's plenty of parking out front. The lab itself is very clean and modern. I was quick pleased on how quickly they had me in and out of there. It only took 10 minutes and it didn't hurt too bad. Overall, it was a good experience. If I ever had to drop off some stool, this is the location I would come to. read more

I contacted Quest and the supervisor for this location called me about the situation. Apparently, the phlebotomist that took my blood wasn't trained properly and the supervisor had to retrain him. Not sure what happened exactly, they won't tell me the problem, but all I know is that this is the first time something like this has happened to me where my arm is still hurting after one month. read more

After a nightmare experience at the Quest in Laguna at the Taj Majal yesterday, I decided to come back to this location since I've been here once before and it was a way more positive experience. Came in this morning later than anticipated (my fault) and the wait was not accurate unfortunately (my reason for removing one star) and I had to leave to make it to another appointment with plans to come back in the afternoon. My previous visit to this location was in and out immediately when I came in the afternoon and I hit the lottery again when I came back today. I had to take a glucose test for pregnancy and brought my own juice substitute with me with a note from my midwife with her approval. They took me back immediately and I was out of there in exactly one hour from consuming my juice-per the glucose test instructions. Dan took care of me and he was very pleasant and he didn't hurt me at all when he took all my blood (it was for two separate orders and was a lot!). Shoutout to Dan for making an initial unpleasant experience into a better one! read more

The receptionist (a young black woman?) was cold, abrupt, and unprofessional. I came in with an order from another testing facility (across the street) that wasn't covered under my insurance. They pointed me to Quest. I walked in and the receptionist told me to sign in. I asked her if they would take an order from another lab. She said yes, but without a lot of care or confidence, and told me again to sign in, as if she were annoyed with me. I called my MD to ensure I wouldn't be charged and everything would go okay. My MD said they'd send the order via fax to Quest. Because my MD's fax was glitchy, they had to fax each test individually which had Quest's fax tied up. During my blood draw, the phlebotomist did a good job, but wasn't very friendly. The receptionist came into the room while I was giving blood to tell me to call my MD to have them stop the faxing and she told me that she'd already told me they would accept an order from another facility. (While true, my MD is borderline incompetent and they're always screwing up referrals including sending me to a non-Quest lab. I felt compelled to double-check and it was my right!) My phone was in my bag across the room, so while I said okay, I totally ignored her request. I know these labs run on a shoe-string budget to turn a profit, but my goodness, having polite employees who can be polite, professional, and friendly couldn't cost too much more. I took time off this morning to take my step dad to do a fasting blood test. Muriel did not perform the lab test. I asked her the reason. She said they only honor appointments. I told her nothing online says that. She said yes and she will let IT know. Then I asked to talk to the office manager. She said there is no one. I explained my step dad is 85 yards olds and has an urgent cardio condition. He is here and you are telling me you will not do the blood test. She said unless there's an appointment, she won't. I checked and Quest states, appointment is recommended not required. read more

I have been to this location several times, and Dana is the nurse I usually see, she is always pleasant, makes it painless, and there are never any bruises, This location is often super busy and without an appointment, there can be a long wait. If I show up at the doctors without an appointment I have to wait an hour or more to be seen. It seems like every time I am there I see people stand at the front desk yelling "Hellooo?!?!?!" to the back. I know you want to feel special and be acknowledged, tough, have a seat and wait like everyone else. There is no bell and nobody cares. So sign the paper, have a seat and wait your turn, there is nobody there to coddle you, you aren't going to be skipped... Several reviews say it takes about 15 minutes, sounds about right, look at the list, 4 people ahead of you, 2 nurses working, it'll be 30 minutes to an hour until your turn... 20 people on the list, you'll be there all afternoon. Yes, they seem understaffed, but it is not like going to a convenience store any buying a pack of gum, besides all of the paperwork, the actual blood draw takes time, and there is still more to do after you leave. A bunch of people whine about customer service or the lack of, I don't have a clue what they are talking about, you are not customers, you are sick patients, and they are not servers or servants, they are there to safely collect your biohazard and test it. And by the way, I have experienced far worse customer service at restaurants, retail stores, and doctors offices than by any of the staff at Quest. I have zero desire to look at much less handle anyone's blood, sputum, urine, feces, or semen. Thank God there are people willing to do this job... think about that for a second, how'd you like to be handed a cup o'shit and have to scoop it out to do whatever they do with it? Lastly, to all of the crybabies, sit still. It doesn't hurt that bad, the more you jerk around, the harder for the girl drawing your blood, the more painful it will be, and the bigger your bruise will be. Just calm down, look the other way, and it will be over in a couple seconds. Yes, your bruises are most likely YOUR fault, these nurses have probably been drawing blood for years, but if when they are sticking a needle in you and you suddenly jerk they can miss the artery and give you a bruise and it will hurt. Oh, and describing them all as the girl in the "blue lab coat"... really???? All of the Quest nurses wear blue lab coats! At least you got the gender right, I've never seen a man at this location. I use Quest quite frequently for an ongoing health issue. I would say on average about once a month to the various locations around Orange County. I liked this location because it is very close to where I live and up until today have never had an issue. Today, I was to be helped by Danny Tabbahk, a technician I have not had before. I don't know if it is because of the ongoing health crisis or if he was just having a bad day, but it was the most unprofessional and rudest service I've ever experienced. Telling someone who is a regular customer that I am making something up and then telling me they won't take my blood is not only unprofessional but also unethical. I am required to have blood taken for a health issue. By telling me you aren't going to do it, that means my doctor can't review it and can't keep track of the issue. Then deleting my info from the system to make it harder for the next technician to get my tests done is uncalled for. Fortunately the regional manager understood this issue was absurd and had Laquesha, another technician take care of it right away. They both were professional, like everyone else has been in the past at this location. I would recommend going to another location or at a minimum requesting another technician than Danny if you need to go here. Quest is one among a number of Labs that are in the area, so it may be best to go elsewhere if the paid service they provide is so rock bottom. read more

Well let me tell you she was the only one working in front of me the computer didn't let her put in my doctors info. It took like 20m all while there was a herd of Irvine customers waiting and trying to come to the back to ask what was taking so long. Well let me tell you if we had more human empathy we would realize it's past 2pm she is alone no receptions no break no lunch and 10 people angry waiting. Stopped in before 8 am on a Tuesday and there was no line. I was in and out of there in just a handful of minutes. Parking is plentiful. Building seems fairly new. Office was sparkling clean. Dana drew my blood and she was AWESOME. No pain or discomfort whatsoever! I usually hate getting my blood drawn. My last experience just a month ago was so uncomfortable I could feel the lab person digging the needle into my vein and then moving it about. With Dana, it was the total opposite. She drew a few vials in just a couple minutes and didn't have to dig around. If you get queasy when it comes to getting blood work done, definitely come to this location and ask for Dana. read more

The amazing, clean, roomy waiting room went unappreciated by me because I was in and out in fifteen minutes total! I was sent for some bloodwork by my doc and the phlebotomist was easily one of the best I've ever had. She understood my dislike for needles and agreed that I must, because "You have such small veins." It felt so good to hear that, for once, a phlebotomist is as agreeable and as nice as she was! Although I wussed out and looked away the whole time, the prick in as well as the removal was as painless as I could have imagined. I was horribly pricked and prodded at Woodbury Medical Center by about 4 different nurses and am so happy- elated- that I've found a good one. I hope she stays here for a very long time and being a big baby, will take all further bloodwork to no one else.
