Made my appointment online a week before. Showed up on time and was sent back within 5 minutes. The lady in the front desk who took my insurance information was the same person that drew my blood. She really listened to me when I told her where my vein is. As a person whose veins you can't see, it's important for the phlebotomist to listen to the patient. She drew from the spot I pointed and I had zero bruising. 5 tubes of blood and not one mark on my arm! I'll definitely be back to this location every time my doctor wants a work up. Not that I like having my blood drawn. But knowing that they know what they're doing, this is where I will be coming. read more

I needed to drop off a fecal sample for my 15 year old daughter, who has been sick with a lot of stomach problems. We have had many doctor's appointments and have been going down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what is wrong with her. Anyway, her doctor wanted fecal samples. Do you know how much a 15 year old wants to give a fecal sample? She said after she provided the samples that she was traumatized. Lol. It had to be done, so she got it done. The sample had to be returned to the lab within 48 hours. So I made an appointment here to drop off. Honestly, it seems crazy that you need an appointment just to drop off samples, but you do. The sample was from Saturday and this was Monday, so I was just under the 48 hours to return the sample. The following day was Tuesday, which was the 4th of July, so the office would be closed. I NEEDED to drop off this sample on Monday. When you arrive at this location there is no staff to check you in. There is only a kiosk. So basically, there is no customer service people. Quest as an organization has decided that their technical staff should be customer service people as well, which is ridiculous. This appears to be a budget saving move in order to save on the bottom line. Regardless of the reason why, is 100% not focused on customers. So arrive 10 minutes late for my appointment, which I think means it auto canceled. The kiosk said I didn't have an appointment anyway. But there was no one to check with about it. I tried to flag someone inside the office but they just said that I needed to put myself on the waiting list. They didn't really want to hear any circumstances or anything... just that I needed to put myself on the waiting list, so I did that. After a while I spoke with a young lady and tried to explain that I just had samples to drop off. She told me that they may be able to get to me but that they may not and I just needed to wait and see. I waited until closing time and a gentleman came out and told us they would not see any more people that day. I explained my situation to him and he said he would go ask the lady inside if I could drop off, but he never came back. I could see inside the office that he was getting ready to leave. As he was walking out to leave I asked him what the status was and he said he thought the lady had spoken with me already. He went back in to speak with her and she said something to the effect that I would need to redo the samples because they would not receive them that day. In other words, the 10 minutes it would take to receive them wasn't worth the nearly 1/2 day I had already spent in picking up the specimen containers and coming back to drop off. Not to mention the effort to provide the samples and the coaxing it took to get a sick 15 year old girl to provide them. Now all of that has to be done all over again. I told the staff I didn't want the specimen containers because I would not be coming back there. There are other options besides Quest and I will never ever go there again. I'm pretty sure there is a LabCorp down the street as well, and any experience would be better than the one I just had at this Quest location. Not related to Quest, I have already had to take several days off work to take my daughter to doctor's appointments and to the hospital for procedures. So, I was a little at the end of my rope with the lack of understanding or sympathy. I am normally very laid back and have a lot of empathy, so when I tell you that I've had a bad experience, it means it was REALLY BAD. read more

I wish I remembered the phlebotomist who drew my blood, but I'm drawing a blank. I was early to my appointment but without anyone waiting in the waiting area, they called me back quickly. The phlebotomist was the best ever. I couldn't even tell when she quickly changed vials. Easy peasy! Recommended. read more

Came for blood work 2 months ago. However, had a total different experience with another phlebotomist this time. The previous phlebotomist is no longer with Quest. Gotten 7 pokes, 1 big bruise (look at the pic) little blood was drawn last week so need to go back for another blood work again. Requested for another phlebotomist today and her name is Hurley. She is skillful and can find even the smallest vein with just 1 poke without feeling been poked. 5 starts to Hurley. read more

As a regular patient at the Encinitas location (477 N. El Camino Real), I decided to try this location, slightly closer to my home and simply out of curiosity. No time to schedule an appointment because my Dr. just called in the lab order yesterday. Fasting required, but I couldn't get there until 11 - parked, found it on the second floor, but the door was locked! I could hear someone inside, knocked, no answer. They close from 11 - 12, which seems very unprofessional. I've never experienced a Lab that closes for lunch. By now I was getting hungry, so I drove straight to the 477 building in Encinitas. The lunch hour is a very busy time for them, but they were able to get me in & out before noon, all within 20 minutes, which my rumbling, hungry body appreciated! I'm not a fan of getting blood drawn - in fact I'm generally the opposite of a fan. I always request to lay down because I generally get THISCLOSE to passing out. Rosa was running the show yesterday and let me just say - she is super sweet and awesome - She did a great job - I didn't get faint and she kept checking on me to make sure I was okay. This is a very clean office. It's a bit far from where I am located but it took about 10-15 minutes for me to get here. I got here a bit early thinking that I could potentially get in earlier but it seems like due to the appointments and the one sole staff member you'll be called in during your appointment time or a couple minutes after. For me it was my appointment time. Overall it was a great experience. I'm usually squeamish with getting things like blood draws done, so I let the tech know that (she was also the front desk staff). She was understanding, quick, efficient, and very sweet :). She asked me multiple times if I was okay after my test which was great since I didn't want to have a terrible "after blood draw" fainting episode. I walked in to do a three hour glucose test. No appointment as I could not find their number on-line. The personnel was friendly and took my information quickly. My fasting blood draw was done within minutes of arrival and on time to the minute with subsequent draws. The facility is new and clean. Only a handful of people stopped in during my wait time (not very busy). Parking was easy and convenient. The two people drawing blood did a good job - one I didn't even feel a poke. My only suggestion is for them to put a trash can inside the bathroom rather than keeping it outside the door. It doesn't make sense to hold onto our trash until we are free done and a waste basket inside the bathroom will help continue to keep it clean and new. I also visited Quest off El Camino Real in Encinitas (which was a disaster in every way, please read separate review) and hands down this was a much more pleasant experience. Hopefully they will stay as good when business starts picking up much more. read more
