Fiazza fresh Fired: Arugula, tomato & goat cheese salad. Alfredo pizza and margherita.

I really like food, so when I heard that a food hall was opening up in Ottawa, I could not wait to check it out. They had some of the best of the best under one roof. Everything from tacos, pizza, burgers and salads. Feel like a cocktail late at night? They have that here at Bar robo. Feel like trying the beyond meat burger? They have that at capital burger. In the mood for tacos? Mexican Mercadito's got you covered! I really like the concept of this place. It's pretty spacious, and you are able to "restaurant hop" and give your taste buds a treat. I went for the pizza at fiazza. The margherita is pretty bomb. I finished my pizza off with a drizzle of honey and spicy oil. The veggie spring rolls and Sen Kitchen were pretty delish as well. We showed up around lunch time, so it got pretty busy since its connected to an office building, but it died down pretty quickly afterwards. I also went during the Christmas break, so I am not sure if it's generally like that all the time. This is also close to parliament and major attractions, so I can see this spot being awesome if you are touring around Ottawa and need a pit stop. Great for groups. I am sure I will be back if I am in the area again.

An upscale food court or "hall", it has a God selection of food vendors - mexican, coffee shop, burgers, asian, salad and a bar. The venue also has a stage so expect various performances to happen. With nooks and crannies this might make a great place to hang out and enjoy some music. Would I return? Yes. Would I recommend? Yes - nice option for those working in the core.

New twist on food experience - like a fancy food court with a DJ, low lighting and beer. Food options varied across the common areas - Asian-fusion, Mexican, Italian, burgers, coffee/bakery, bar Seating was more spaced out than a food court for sure and the flow in the room was very open, perhaps it gets standing room only at times? Sustainable concepts everywhere like zero trash and free water fountain. Seems like an after work hangout. It was super busy early on and definitely became less busy as the night went on. A bit loud for holding actual conversation, but we made it work overall. Some issues around getting food include needing to save your seat when you get up to order and the diceyness of that. My friend ordered from the burger place and waited a long time for everything to cook from raw - fine in a sit down restaurant, not cool while standing at the counter waiting by yourself because everyone picked a different restaurant. Overall, burger was okay and the fries were pretty tasty. I ate at the Sen Kitchen. Overall a good experience with great service. Appreciated the table bussers - the place was always tidy. In general, I don't know how I feel about the whole place. I'll need to go back again to make a final decision. Definitely above a regular fast food experience, don't think it beats a sit down restaurant. Maybe include an at-table ordering system with all the restaurants connected to really make it a modern dining experience! IE, I don't want to leave my conversation, but I'd like a coffee or another beer without losing my table. Definitely a great dining idea on which to continue building. Has lots of potential.

The fam and I frequently venture to the World Exchange Plaza to explore downtown, and take advantage of the close proximity to Parliament and Sparks. They used to offer free parking on the weekends (which has sadly now come to an end). The$10.00 min for parking on a Friday night after 6, even if only being parked for 30 minutes is quiet steep. Yikes! The parking lot is underground and was mostly empty on a Friday evening, mind you its during the Winter. We parked here to take a stroll down Sparks street, so while it was convenient, its just way too much $$. There is a TD bank on site and a Shoppers Drug Mart. Restrooms are fantastic here, clean, and well looked after. I recommend using the restrooms upstairs by the food court. Be mindful as the restrooms are not open 24/7 and they do close. The main entrance doors lock by a certain time, and there is a garage parking entrance a small distance away. There are signs around the building stating the times of the closures for the restrooms and building. I would take note of those when parking.

I mean some of the people making food at these places are just as skilled and talented as the chefs at restaurants; they just don't have the resources or perhaps they don't have the desire to open a restaurant, but still have the passion to feed others with their food. Admittedly, not all independent vendors serve good food, but I do like supporting the little guys by giving them a chance. Toronto has Village by the Grange, Markham has Pacific Mall, and First Markham Place, and Montreal had the Faubourg - I'm talking in it's heyday (circa late 1990's) not present day where there are only 2 vendors left and the place is essentially a ghost town [sniffle, sniffle]. Man, I loved that place, but hey, sentimentality is for chumps [wipes away tears] and I am digressing... Anyway, all this is to say that the food court at the World Exchange Plaza is probably the closest thing to a "cool food court" that Ottawa has. While it has a mix of chains and independents, the independent vendors do outnumber the chains. The World Exchange Plaza is an office and retail building. Once upon a time it also had a movie theatre, but that has since closed. It's actually quite pretty and has a huge atrium in the middle (with sculptures of narwhals and beluga whales hanging from the ceiling). The eastern side looks a bit like The Roman Colosseum. The outside has steps leading down to it where people like to sit during nice weather to eat their lunches. There is also an outdoor amphitheatre. When I went by today there was a group playing music for the lunch crowd. The main retailers are Shoppers Drug Mart, and the LCBO. The food court is on the second floor and the vendors are: Muffin Plus/The Soup Guy, Asian Gourmet, Shakey's, Kebob Kebob, Tasha's, Cheesy Pizza & Pasta, Booster Juice, Subway, Thai Express, Sushi Shop and Second Cup. The eating area is kept very clean and there are seats that are a bit secluded that over look the street and seats that are more central that over look the atrium. The washrooms are also very clean. At lunchtime it's full of office workers. There are very few babies, kids, and tourists. Overall, a good place to grab a quick bite in a nice environment.

I found the…read moreprice to be a bit more expensive than I would normally pay for a burger meal, but I got a ridiculous amount of food for what I paid, so it's a great value for big eaters. The quality, on the other hand, is not the greatest. I got the Green Monster with avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese, and roasted garlic and chili aioli. The burgers and toppings are fresh, but my bread was stale, and because of the size of the burger, the bread got soggy really fast and it all turned into a sloppy mess. The taste was pretty good but they were heavy on the aioli and I would have preferred the avocado sliced instead of made into a kind of mush. There were a ton of sweet potato fries, more than I would ever need as a side, but they were soggy and overcooked. I asked for a side of chipotle mayo for dipping - if the sweet potato fries were crispy, they would have tasted a lot better together. Overall, cost is higher than fast food but affordable, portion is huge, taste is good, but a pretty messy. Worth it if you're in the mood for a big, greasy, homemade burger!

It's a build your own bowl sort of place. You pick your base, 2 sides, and a protein. The price depends on your protein choice. Many of the options have an Indian element to them. I got the Chicken 65 as my protein ($12) and Coconut Ginger Rice as my base. For my sides I got the Greek Salad and the Vegan Kale Salad. You also get to add a "crunchy" option at the end, and I chose walnuts. The Chicken 65 was tasty and full of flavour, but not spicy at all. The Coconut Ginger Rice was good, I could really taste the coconut milk and ginger. It's a mix of different types of long grain rice, and it was soft and fluffy. Both the Greek Salad and the Vegan Kale Salad were made of fresh ingredients (no wilted greens), but they tasted rather unremarkable to me. The Greek salad was mostly romaine lettuce and cucumbers. I got 1 olive and some feta crumbs. Perhaps the other sides would have been more interesting. If you get your food to go, it's in a plastic takeout container that's sectioned into 3 areas (a larger one for your base and protein, and 2 smaller ones, one for each side). If you get your food to eat there, it's in a bowl and everything is put together in the bowl. I'm not sure if their choices change or are constant, but the day I went there were only 3 bases to choose from: the Coconut Ginger Rice that I got, Garlic Rice Noodles (which to me looked really dry and sad), and mixed greens. Their sides were more numerous and included potatoes, quinoa salad, chickpea salad, rice salad, several leafy greens salad (two of which I chose), hummus and raita. Their protein choices were Chicken 65, tandoori chicken, butter chicken, steak fajitas, fish, and the vegetarian options were a tofu curry or a cauliflower stir fry. You can add on extras like half an avocado for $1.95. There's a lot of variety, which I like. Staff were nice enough. The place is cashless, so it debit or credit only. I think Fat Rabbit is a great addition to the Rideau Centre food court.

What deters me from coming here again is the price and the portion size. A bowl and a drink together costs around $15 (tax excluded), and the size of the bowl isn't large enough to justify the price. It's a hard life being on a diet.
