Nothing worse than having a nail tech that doesn't listen to a customer. My natural nails are long. I use dip powder, which is my personal preference. I told the tech repeatedly no cutting, file square. I also asked for white dip powder with a top coat of sparkle. The entire time, he is pushing me to try gel with powder. It was so annoying having to continually explain what I wanted and why. He filed my nails coffin style and shortened them considerably. He also did not do the color combination I requested. They charge too much for crap service. The one star is for the nail tech that did my $60 spa pedicure. I won't be going back. Smh. read more

She said $10 and then she told me that they had no time to do my nails and that I should make an appointment for the following day. My gel manicure chipped after 5 days. When I called I was told I had to come right away even though my schedule did not permit. When I was asked when I could come I explained that it wouldn't be for another week due to my work schedule. The owner basically told me that she could not be of assistance since I could not come right away. Just moved up to the area and needed to find my forever place. I went in because I thought this was the place my in laws had recommended. My gel polish peeled off of my acrylic nails the next day. I've seen this happen with gel manicures but not on acrylic. On top of that she rushed through it. All because other people were waiting and got tired of waiting so they were leaving. You can tell she didn't care because my nails were not filled correctly. Some nails were squared and others were round. They are also ridiculously expensive. About a year ago I went to Essence and had an awful experience but I decided to give them another try. I made the wrong decision. They had no idea what I was talking about so I decided to go with a simple color rather than ANC. I already had nails on so it was just a fill and I was charged 50$ for a fill and a regular color.. I needed to get a fill in for my gel nails as soon as possible so I went to Essence Nails in Chester. For one, they are overpriced. The lady who did my nails did a good job and she had a good technique. The day after, my GEL polish started to chip and that had never happened in my life, years after getting my gel nails done, they have never chipped. Now another nail is peeling. I am so angry. I went to this location today given the good reviews. I have to say that although, I had a 12:30 appt for wax and nails and the place was practically empty, I was made to wait. After about 10 minutes, I told the owner I would come back if no one had time for me. She summoned an employee from the back who then provided the waxing. By the time she was done with me the person assigned to do my nails was ready. Both the location & room where waxing was done seemed very clean. However, the overall outcome is as follows: My waxing looks good. My nails look good. But you have to clearly indicate to all involved the kind of services you want. Because prices are not outlined anywhere. 1. I had my whole face waxed without asking for price and found out Upon paying it cost me $50.00. When I asked why it was so much, I was told face was $40.00 & neck $10.00. I was clear that I wanted my face waxed not anything else. Why the person waxing me did my neck without telling me it cost me $10.00 more was an unfair sneaky thing to do. 2. Explain exactly what you want. I wanted my nails shaped with a point at the end as opposed to square or round but the person doing my nails didn't understand. It took two other people explaining what I wanted in order to get it. And, although they came out looking good, I was concerned the whole time I sat in my chair as to how they would look. I'm going to give them another chance but we'll see. One time I received a manicure that did not last more than 24 hours. - multiple nails were peeling. Another time I made an appointment and still had to wait OVER a half hour. Which, would have been fine if they told me honestly when I walked in, or asked if I could come back, but instead they continually told me that I would be taken soon. Asked the lady to fix part of her paint job on the side of my thumb and she said 'that's YOUR dry skin' so I replied, 'then why is paint on my skin?' She did fix it, and surprise it wasn't on my skin, but her poor painting job on my nail. Over priced for not exceptional service. Regina was borderline ABUSIVE! I'm not even exaggerating. Horrible. Chastised because I didn't have an appointment- okay, I can come back- NO problem. Nope. She took me and proceeded to whip my hands and wrists around, gave me a completely Dry, no soak, nada- gel Polish manicure. I asked to switch from UV Gel Powder. She never removed the old gel powder, even though I was getting another French manicure... She proceeded to cut away the lifted pieces and then cover it with the new French manicure with gel nail polish instead of soaking the UV gel powder off... Left huge chunks on my nail and blamed it that my nail beds were too weak. No they were not, I only had that UV gel powder on for two weeks, otherwise my nails were extremely healthy and long. You are supposed to soak that off. Not chip it away in pieces or cut it away. She actually lived in parts of my nail bed off. At the register she tried to charge me $10 extra for removal. I mentioned that she didn't remove it, you can still see the leftover gel from my previous manicure through my new manicure, didn't soak or do my cuticles, and she proceeded to argue with me. Terrible customer service, rush job, lazy, rude, and borderline abusive. Never again. read more

HORRIBLE!!!! Do not go here, EVER! I went in this last Saturday to get a gel manicure. Then I decided I wanted to get a full set, gel. They sucked their teeth and rolled their eyes and shifted me to a different nail technician who could do acrylics. She took FOREVER and they came out like crap. I returned Monday evening with an already chipped nail and polish which should not have happened since it's GEL, that's the whole point of getting gel. Then Tuesday (today), I look down and the same nail is chipped and broken as well as a nail on the other hand which gel polish completely lifted off the nail! Went to spent time with my wife and sister by treating them to a spa pedicure. What I got was an annoyed wife and sister who sat in the pedicure chairs for 35 minutes watching two other ladies have their pedicures started and they came in after us. I got my pedicure started almost right away but it was rushed. My wife and sister didn't even get the spa pedis even though they asked for them. I once had a manicure done totally dry, no cuticle soak or anything. It was very strange. I stopped going altogether when they tried to overcharge me for nonsense reason. I am very disappointed with my pedicure. It was very rushed and not well done. I sat in the chair for 25 minutes soaking before anyone came over to me. I was told that I would get a regular pedicure instead of the spa pedicure.....yes I was told not asked. I asked the lady to file my nail done 3 times and it still wasn't done. My foot was scrubbed with a pumice stone for 10 seconds in one spot...that's it. When my nails dried there was a ton of visible dead skin still on my feet. Needless to say I will NOT be returning! Although gel fill manicure was ok price of 60.00 was absolutely ridiculous! I should have asked about price before I had them do my manicure. When I questioned the price he told me normally it is 50.00 (which is still very high) but charged me an extra 10 for 2 nails where the full was coming away from the nails. That should be all part of the fill price. Although convenient for them to be open on Sunday, not worth 60.00 ever! I just moved to the area a few months ago, and I was looking for a good nail salon close to my new home. I went for a spa pedicure and manicure on Mothers Day. The salon is clean and has a nice atmosphere, and a good selection of nail polish, which is the reason I gave them one star. I wasn't too upset that I had to wait about 30 minutes, even though I'd made an appointment, because I knew it would probably be very busy. It didn't even bother me that I waited another 20 minutes, soaking my feet, because I was relaxing in a comfy massage chair. While I was waiting, I noticed that all the employees were literally running back and forth around the salon. One of them even tripped and fell over the feet of the the woman next to her. As I watched all the scurrying around, I realized it was because the woman who seemed to be the owner, was rushing everyone, and barking orders. When someone finally came over to do my pedicure, I was a little apprehensive because I went there for some much deserved pampering, and the technician was clearly very stressed and rushed. She did ok for the most part, but when she was putting the callous remover on my feet, she missed one of my big toes, and when I (politely) pointed this out, she said it didn't need it, instead of correcting her mistake. The callous on my big toes aren't terrible, but the left and right are the same. To make matters worse, half way through polishing my toes, the owner chased her away to start on someone else, and took over my pedicure herself. The woman literally got up and walked away with half of my big toe nail polished! Things really went downhill from there. The owner was sloppy with the polish on my toes, and my manicure was not a pleasant experience. She kept jerking my hands around impatiently, and she kept filing my nails crooked. When I finally had to pick up the file and fix it myself, she seemed insulted, but by that point I'd had enough. The owner should stick to answering the phone and booking appointments. She also needs to learn the meaning of customer service, because she has no clue. I am not that fussy about my nails, and I could forgive a less than perfect manicure or pedicure, if I was treated nicely. Clearly, everyone must not be having the same experience I did, or this salon wouldn't be so busy, but I will be looking for somewhere else to have my nails done. read more

Went to this nail salon and waited about 30 mins before I was even sat for a pedicure (was not busy at all-people sitting not working) put my feet in cold water and waited another 15 mins. The lady who did my pedicure rushed. I wasn't even there 30 mins and I was sitting under the dryer. She barely took my old polish off and didn't ask how I liked my nails filed so some were square some were rounded. My nail polish had air bubbles in it and I expressed throughout my time how unhappy I was with the job that was being done. That said and done the lady then card my card and stood over me and stuck her hand out and said "tip" that was extremely unprofessional and rude. I am always one to tip regardless.
