Great food and beyond great service by Elijah. He's a member of the family that owns the place, he…read moreloves food and helping people. I'd have given 5 stars but the chicken wasn't ready by 2pm as it was supposed to have been. It's not a fancy place but they make up for it with food and service. The portions were enough for 3 days depending on your appetite. The taste of the food was awesome and I love their sauces. I look forward to going back again and trying some other items. P. S. The funnel cakes fries are perfection and so much easier to eat than traditional funnel cake yummmmmm.

I tried so hard to love this place. You really have no idea. In short, mostly mediocre food…read morecombined with one very shiesty action ruined the experience. I knew I had to stop at Cowboy's BBQ after I passed it a few times while looking at houses in Covington. Some of the best food that you'll find anywhere is often attached to a gas station. The good reviews and smells made me certain this was going to be great. At first glance, prices are amazing [more on this later...]. I ordered the 3 meat plate with brisket, ribs, and smoked chicken. I chose fries and mac n cheese for my sides. The mac n cheese carried an upcharge, but this is reasonably common for places to do. I agree with the one diner who said the brisket was amazing. I really enjoyed the brisket. The fries were also fine thanks how are you? Wish I had more good to say about this place. The ribs were very old and mediocre at best. I understand that food can't be cooked to order at a barbecue place, but even barbecue has a shelf life. The ribs that I was served should've long been chopped into a stew special or something along those lines. The smoked chicken was a disgusting insult. At first, I thought I was mistakenly served an additional side instead of smoked chicken. Unfortunately, their service style is off the bone and finely diced. Storing barbecue meats off the bone is a delicate process. You have to take extra care to ensure that it doesn't dry up in the hot box. Unfortunately, no care was taken, so the chicken was dry and tasteless. The mac n cheese was very low quality. I'll happily pay an upcharge for the good stuff that's baked. I'll grudgingly eat Kraft mac n cheese. I will not pay an upcharge for Kraft mac n cheese. Honestly, all of this would've made the experience probably worth 2 or even 3 stars, but they have an incredibly dishonest, unadvertised upcharge for credit cards. The surcharge is definitely higher than their cost to accept credit cards. Some businesses eat the cost of accepting credit cards. Other businesses pass this cost to the customer. Cowboy BBQ uses this as an opportunity to improve their margins by cheating their customers.

We said,…read morewe should go. in my email box this week is my weekly Yelp suggestions and what is at the top? Smitty's! It is a "plate of shrimp" moment of off we go. Smitty's is about a mile up 51 from the biggest truck stop interchange on 85. The building complex is a very cool set of older buildings that look like a barbecue restaurant. There is a giant stack of wood outside so this looks promising. When you go in, seats yourself and someone will be there to serve you right away. The menu is typical barbecue fare with a couple other items too. I ordered the brisket plate, Megan had a chicken fried steak. The brisket was tender and smokey with a little salt and pepper in the seasoning. It was good and meaty. The fries were good as was the okra. The stew was flavorful with tomato and corn. Megan's chicken fried steak was very good. It was beefy and tender and cooked just right. Her potato came with big cups of butter, cheese, and sour cream. And she ate her whole salad. This was a special road trip for use because of the Yelp suggestion. But if we are back in the area again we will defiantly hit them up again.

We went to Madison today for a day trip and I looked for BBQ places. Saw the reviews for Crowe's BBQ and decided to try. Glad we did. I got the brisket plate. My #1 brisket I have ever had was Kreuz BBQ in Lockhart, TX. The next on my list is JW Hayes n Newport Beach, CA.- very similar to Kreuz and told me he fashioned his after Kreuz. Now I have a #3- which ranks right up there with Kreuz and the JW Hayes. The brisket was so tender and fell apart when you pick it up. Just the right amount of smoke flavor. So good. My wife ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and said it was the best she ever had. And she is VERY picky, so I was surprised. I tried hers and it was very tender as well. Now I am tempted to go back to try out their bbq ribs. Now I have my list of top 3. On to find the next one for my list.

I personally have watched every single season of gossip girl, and nothing could compare to the drama in this place. Service was awful, some guy gave me the stank eye, and my food was bad. Server stopped to take our drink order about 10 minutes later. Drinks arrived and we placed our very simple scoop and serve orders of pulled pork. Then we waited. And waited. Watched as others who ordered 30 minutes after us received their food. I was in the restaurant industry for 20 years, and I know bbq is 90% scoops and serve. Asked the server and she said it'll be out in 2 minutes. (Standard response). 15 minutes later my lady friend had had enough, as did I. Asked for the gm, who I assume wasn't available. Then our cold food arrived. And we were charged the full amount without any sort of apology. Almost 2 hours we waited for simple bbq. Here's my advice for the restaurant. When your kitchen or servers can't produce. Your managers need to "hold the door". Put the door on a 20-30 minute wait so you can catch up. Obviously there's a lack in management here, or at least there was on that day. They continued to seat folks and I kept asking myself (why?)

Old fashioned interior, and a simple yet extremely satisfying menu! The Turkey Plate was outstanding! I paired it with the sweet and spicy bbq sauces. Just the meat alone, was enough!
