This BBQ place is my favorite anywhere and I do mean anywhere. It's a 50 mile round trip for me and worth every minute of anticipation. My friends and I ride our Harleys there (about 7 of us) whenever we get a chance. No matter what state you visit for BBQ, let me tell you that they have the best Brunswick stew on the planet - I swear!!! The BBQ sandwiches are piled high (enough for 2 sandwiches) and tastes wonderful - even without adding any extra sauce. The sauce is either medium or hot. (some say a 3rd one - sweet) Normally I don't do "hot" but this one is excellent and easy to tolerate the heat. (a little runny nose) The dinner plates run around $12.99 and up and come with 2 sides. Everyone loves their fries, which are actually thin cut potatoes perfectly cooked as crispy. The staff are always friendly and attentive. The place is always clean, including the bathroom. They have TVs you can watch, no music, and they serve beer - including IPA choices. I could go on and on but let me just suffice it to say - you will be so glad you found this place and will crave returning asap. Btw, they are now closed both Monday & Tuesday. Service was good, the sides were very good. We had stew, Cole slaw, home made chips. The pulled pork sandwich was good. 3 in our pantry ordered 1/2 rack ribs. Very disappointed they were extremely dry. We went later in the evening so I think they were over cooked. The other issue was the flies. I've been eating here for years and have always been a huge fan of the Brunswick stew. The meats and sauce are pretty tasty too! I found this place in a random "restaurants near me" search. I was surprised at how busy they were on a Thursday night an hour before closing. The staff were very nice. The young man who took our order was so sweet. He was so patient with my daughter and all of her questions. We both ordered the Half Rack dinners to go. She had fries and Brunswick stew. I had fries and coleslaw. We both enjoyed the fries. I enjoyed the coleslaw. My ribs were salty and tough on the ends and I wasn't sure if the ribs were salty or the sauce was salty. My coleslaw was good and very fresh. We also had the lemon and carrot cakes. Surprisingly, my daughter thought the cake was a little too sweet. I enjoyed the carrot cake. It was moist and flavorful. Good portions of BBQ on the sandwich and home it round fries. We also tried the beans (they are on the sweet side) and the slaw. 20 dollars gets you 2 combos. The buns and meat could have been a tad warmer for my liking. Sauce is available on the side- nothing fancy. I did miss having a few to choose from. Happened to be in the area and we're considering Fresh Air BBQ when a friend suggested Blind Pig was better. So, we checked it out and I'm so glad we did. Amazing BBQ even if I am from NYC. I've done my fair share of exploring in NYC, a number of places around Asheville, NC and random places on the east coast. This place did not do anything poorly. The pulled pork and ribs were nicely smoky and not greasy. Great taste not too much sauce on the ribs. Choices of BBQ sauce 3: sweet (not my type) hot and some sort of xtra hot (but had a different name which is escaping me right now). I'm not one to add much BBQ sauce and I didn't think it needed it but the extra hot starts a little sweet and sneaks up on ya though I'll say it doesn't stay with you which is really nice. All of the sides were rocking. The home fries were discs of potato fried to perfection and just enough salt. Cole slaw was chopped which is not my preference but had a great flavor, just enough sweetness. The baked beans had lots of pork at least three types of beans and were the perfect balance of savory and a touch of sweet. Finally the Stew was amazing my girlfriend said best she's ever had, I don't have a lot of experience with it so I had nothing to compare it to. The drinks we had included the rosemary lemon aide which I will say when I poured it the color gave me pause I thought it was going to be tooth aching sweet but it was not. It was absolutely delicious though I did add a slice of lemon. My friend had the unsweetened iced tea and she was raving about how good it was. The chocolate nut pie was super yum, be warned it had coconut. As a recent convert to liking coconut I will through out that warning. Overall I would go out of my way to get BBQ here. After tonight I will never eat at this place again. They have more customers than they want and they let you know by completely disregarding you. After our meal my daughter went and purchased 2 whole pickles to go. After 20 minutes I went and asked if they could get the pickles so we could leave and then an entire pickle debate ensued and the pickles became a hot potato of responsibility that nobody wanted accountability for. After another 5 minutes we still didn't have the pickles and nobody had accepted responsibility for getting the pickles so we left. They can have the pickles and we will never return to this place again. This isn't the first time I walked out of this place without the items I paid for because they just don't care to service their customers in a timely manner. I will never return again. read more

Should Blind Pig BBQ be mentioned with some of the best BBQ shacks in NC/SC/GATN? Probably not. Is it darn good? Yes. In Jackson, Georgia, and likely within 50 miles of here, good luck finding better. We took an extended lunch to drive out into the sticks for a chance to decide this for ourselves and are glad we did. And, if you're headed to Indian Springs State Park or Jackson Lake, a stop here is a must. Blind Pig offers very good BBQ and honestly, one of the best Brunswick stews I've tasted - and that's having eaten at more than 250 BBQ restaurants in the country (no exaggeration). The stew is the best thing going here and a must-try for everyone. Upon arrival, you'll find friendly folks awaiting your visit. Don't expect to pull in next to other restaurants, gas stations and a local Walmart. This place is a stand alone and does a great job at standing out. We sampled the smoked turkey and pulled pork, both of which were solid. I can't imagine anyone complaining. Meanwhile, the sauce wasn't the best we've ever had, which kept us from notching five-stars. As for the sides, dive into the french fries. These hand-cut potatoes hit the spot. In fact, you'll probably want to order another load of them. Just remember, there's normally homemade pie, too. Homemade is a theme here. Don't expect to eat reheated and frozen food. The fella and I are working our way through Atlanta Magazine's top five Atlanta area barbecue spots, and at #5, The Blind Pig was our first stop. The barbecue at The Blind Pig is worth the drive. Their ribs are quite tender and deliciously meaty, their sauces are delicious, and the smokey flavor of all their offerings is spot on. For the classics of Southern barbecue, pork ribs, brunswick stew, chopped pork sandwiches, the Blind Pig is a 4 star establishment in my book. A solid 4. But The Blind Pig has earned an extra special place in my heart, because I love Thanksgiving. This point may sound weird, but it is key to this review, so I need to level with you. I love Thanksgiving. I love it so much, that I seek out Thanksgiving-like entrees throughout the year. I am a summer baby, born in July, and for years on my birthday, in the heat of summer, I would ask for Thanksgiving for dinner. I love turkey, the classic sides and pie. The smoked turkey at The Blind Pig is without peer. It is so delicious it will haunt you. Its flavor is mesquite and lingering, its texture is perfectly yielding and moist. For the turkey alone this place would get 5 stars in my book, but the Pig has even more gems to offer. Homemade pie is readily available- pie with buttery crusts in delicious flavors (for instance chocolate cherry). These are the magical country pies you always seek out at roadside diners but seldom find. The Pig also does some of the best baked beans I've ever experienced, not-too-sweet and a little spicy with delicious smoked sausages bits sitting among three kinds of beans. You must go, like-minded Atlantans, and seek The Blind Pig out. The 40 mile drive feels like an quest, and the feasting at the end feels like a just reward. The first time I go to any BBQ place I have to get the pork plate with a side of stew. Blind Pig did not disappoint. The portions were generous for the price. I thought the sauce was good. There was a bit more smoke flavor in the meat than other places I've tried in the area. The service was friendly, and it wasn't too crowded the afternoon I went so I talked a little college football with the staff while finishing up eating (but not with my mouth full). The place seems bigger than I would have guessed when looking at it from the outside.
