The Garnacha Spot - Huitlacoche quesadilla

The Garnacha Spot

(10 reviews)

I've been a little hit-and-miss when it comes to the Indiana Government Center's Statehouse Market…read morethis year. I've had a couple downright disappointing experiences, a handful of average ones, and only occasionally something that truly impressed me. I had planned to visit a pizza truck that was scheduled to be here today, but it appeared to be a cancellation. Box Burger was packed, Union Jack's was busy, and I'll admit that nothing else was striking my fancy. I spied the attractive Garnacha Spot truck and was intrigued. It is beautifully decorated. The line wasn't too bad and I was working on a limited time schedule due to an upcoming meeting. I checked out the menu - tacos, quesadillas, tortas, and a handful of other items. I opted for a chicken quesadilla. I'll be the first to admit I'm no expert when it comes to Mexican. I'd almost guarantee I lean toward Americanized Mexican cuisine. This quesadilla was right at $4.50 plus tax. I should have gotten two, but I typically eat outside and I knew I had to rush. What can I say? I loved this quesadilla. The seasoning mix was perfect, the flavor wonderful, and the serving size was definitely right on for a $4.50 quesadilla. Yes, I could have eaten another one. Easily. The best part for me here? The service was perfect. The woman who took the order was helpful and super friendly. While I'm sure they'd have loved a bigger order, they were marvelously hospitable. The person who handed me the order, presented in a styrofoam container, recognized the difficulty of carrying in a wheelchair and offered me a bag - I didn't take it, but I loved the thoughtfulness. This experience was definitely one of the highlights of Statehouse Market for me this year. The people were friendly, the food was delicious, the prices were fair, and the truck is attractively decorated and fits with the personality of the people and the cuisine. I'll easily return the next time I see The Garnacha Spot and I'm genuinely looking forward to it.

Next time I will tell them to go light on the seasoning. My coworker had a churro and said it was one of the best she's ever had.The staff was nice and the food items were reasonably priced.

Zo-Bot’s Soda and Fries - 20 oz butter beer

I'm trying to catch up on some of my food truck reviews from the 2025 Statehouse Market season…read more While I have historically had a few tried and true trucks, this year I've been trying to experiment more. Zo-Bot's Soda and Fries is pretty much exactly what you expect. Billing itself as Indy's first "Dirty Soda" shop, Zo-Bot's definitely did precede Swig, a national chain that recently entered the Indy market. For those not in the know, "Dirty Soda" is essentially a drink that includes soda "spiked" with cream, flavored syrups, or fruit juices. Strangely enough, the trend finds a lot of its roots in Mormonism (Don't ask me to explain it). Zo-Bot's has a decent variety of Dirty Soda options with bases of sodas like root beer, Coke, Sprite, lemonade, seltzer, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, and others. They also carry a variety of seasoned fries. The truck is fun and festive. The people are friendly. I really enjoy the drinks - I'm quite fond of the Indy 500 - a drink blending Mountain Dew, mango, and blood orange. I seem to be particularly fond of the Mountain Dew-based options. Being a footless Yelper, I had to try "Leg Day" - Mountain Dew, Peace, Pineapple, and Coconut Cream. I'm not a big fan of coconut, however, I did like this drink. This is the kind of truck I like finding at Statehouse Market. It's something I wouldn't usually seek out - an original experience on one of the rare days that I get out of my cubicle for lunch. I will admit I'm a bit hit-and-miss with the fries, though I'm still skewing upward toward a 5-star with quality products, fair prices, friendly employees, and a super fun truck. I do like the garlic parm seasoning for fries - plus, hey, they have funnel cake fries. It's decadent but fun and tasty.

Zo-Bot's has the popular "dirty" sodas that are big out west namely Swigs who started them. They come to lots of different farmers markets and events. They also serve seasoned fries with seven types of seasonings you can choose from - salt and vinegar, chipotle, garlic Parmesan and more. They also make funnel cake fries with caramel or chocolate toppings. These drinks hit the spot on a hot day!!! Wish I had one now!

The young lady that took the order was super friendly. I ordered Birria tacos. They were excellent!!! You get three tacos in an order with a side of sauce. Fresh cucumbers, and a roasted jalapeño. Let me tell you these things were stuffed full and tasted delicious! I also liked the fact that you can go sit back in your car and wait for them to call out your number over the loudspeaker. Will definitely be going back to try their Birria egg rolls!

The prices Amy seem like they are high but when you see the amount of food you get for what you pay, you will understand that it is a great price. This is as authentic Mexican food as you can get and I haven't had one bad thing from here. They could be banging out product at a restaurant if they wanted and be very successful. Their location is always on raceway and 10th and they post to facebook when they are going to be there. You can't miss the bright neon lights and the orange food truck. Birria is one of my favorites and the Birria balls are amazing and stuffed with cheese and meat then deep fried inside of a batter that is delicious. The consume they provide to dip your Birria in, is also wonderful. The quesadillas are HUGE! And the tacos are like two in one. The elote on a stick was out of this world and a must for each trip. Their churros with your choice of sauce finish off the meal just right . I always get chocolate and Carmel sauce on the side to dip them in. Give them a try and you will be hooked!

My husband and I come here a couple times of month for a late dinner and the food is always great…read more The wait times can be very long and several times we've encountered that our buzzer is broken/never alerted us to our food being ready so we wait a long time before going up to check on it to discover it's been sitting up there. They have really expended their whole food truck area over the last year with more lights, tables, tents, and the buzzers to let you know when your food is done. Our go-to is the pastor burrito. They are always juicy and flavorful and filled up as much as they can be (some burritos we have gotten from other taco spots have too little filling and a lot of loose tortilla, but not here). They have great tacos as well. We decided to bring my sister and BIL with us after we went to a Halloween event at Newfields and they loved it. If someone in your group doesn't like tacos/burritos, then they have plenty of other things to try or there are many other food trucks over here now and they could get a different type of food entirely.
