Tried Double D's this evening. Up and coming BBQ place recently opened in Clayton. I have eaten BBQ across many southern states, having been born and raised in the south, and like to give BBQ places a try when I come across one. We got there about 5:40 pm (opened at 3PM today) and they were slammed and already out of pulled pork and almost out of brisket. The meats are fresh every day. From Double D's meat offerings, I would have gone for pulled pork, but since they were out ordered their 2 meat sampler that came with 2 sides. I chose smoked sausage (mixed spicy and regular) and brisket. For my 2 sides I went with the fries and baked beans. The meats were good. I normally don't prefer brisket as many places it is too fatty for me, but Double D's brisket was not fatty at all and was very good. The sausage was just OK. The baked beans were delicious and the fries were outstanding (appeared to be homemade on location and were the star of the show IMO). My dining partner got the brisket sandwich which she said was very tender. She pushed the bun aside. (Grilled bun with some butter would have made the bun worthwhile). She got beans and Mac & Cheese. She liked the beans a lot as well, as they were very saucy and had chunks of smoked meat. The mac@cheese could have been warmer and was nothing special in her opinion. Neither one of us thought the sauces were anything to write home about, but good BBQ doesn't really need (much) sauce anyway. Small restaurant, with some dine in seating. Counter service and canned drinks. Order and take your food to your table yourself. Limited parking (but admittedly much of the parking area was snow covered so may have been more available if it had been clear). Overall, I'd say Double D's Southern BBQ is good and I am glad to have another BBQ option in the area. I'm not sure it's a place that will make it into my regular rotation, as nothing jumped out to me as outstanding. The value of what you get to cost balance was just OK. I'll have to go again near opening time when they have some pulled pork to try and then decide.

Decided to try out a new place and we found this place advertised as one of the Hendricks County Flavor Fest participants. It's located just west of Plainfield and is right off the main road. The restaurant is very welcoming and the people inside were super friendly and helpful. We decided to get a sampler platter that consisted of pulled pork, brisket, ribs and normally a chicken quarter but they were out of chicken. They offered for us to replace it with anything so we tried their burnt bologna which is there contribution to the flavor fest. It also came with three sides which we chose fries, slaw and hushpuppies. Everything was amazing. All the meats were cooked to perfection and the sauces they had on the table were amazing. We took home left overs because of the amount of food they gave us. We will definitely be back soon and hopefully try the chicken next time.

Nice, family owned and operated restaurant with authentic Memphis style BBQ. My favorite was the brisket and baked beans.

We got pulled pork, sausage, and brisket. It came with two sides. We got the green beans and pasta salad. It was $28.75. Your meal comes with free cheddar garlic biscuits with a side of apple butter. The pulled pork with some of the best we have ever had. The brisket was good as well, flavored nicely. We received three large pieces, however, there was quite a bit of fat on the pieces. We received two sausage links. The sausage was slightly spicy, which we like. However, of the three meats it was our least favorite. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She recommended the green beans. Her description of them was right on target and they were very good. Service was very fast and our bill was accurate. They are first come, first serve, and do not accept reservations. We would return again.

You could taste the smoke on the meat and it was delicious. Only suggestion is add tomatoes. Next the 2 meat with 2 sides. The brisket was phenomenal, the seasoned fries were on point especially dipped in ranch, the Mac & cheese was piping hot and all the food was amazing!!! Full bar, plenty of seating definitely worth the drive!!

Their cute little restaurant is across from the post office. I wanted a sandwich to go and they had $13 lunch specials that included a selection of sandwiches, a side and drink. I selected the brisket sandwich with spicy bbq sauce, cole slaw and I grabbed a unsweetened ice tea. The clerk was friendly and I had a short wait. The dining room is neat and tidy with old photos of Martinsville and subtle pig decor. Outside is a really nice covered patio where pets are welcome. My food came out quickly in a paper bag with my name on it. The BBQ brisket was phenomenal. The sandwich had several generous slices of thick brisket with slightly burnt ends, but moist and tender inside. The meat melted into the bun, which was soft and fresh. This was the best bbq sandwich I'd had in a long time. The spicy sauce, came on the side, was really delicious, too. The cole slaw is prepared in-house, finely chopped with a sweet vinegar dressing. It was crunchy and good, and a I've portion. Easy 5 star lunch. Free street parking. I'd stop by every time I'd mail a letter if I lived here. And I'd mail a lot of letters.

Seating is also tight but there is room in the back and tables outside. Order at the counter and wait for your number to be called for your meal. You can also see the pit with the meat cooking. There are plenty of options though there is no true 2 meat plate. That's ok because I made it work. I went with the spare ribs meal and then took the Chuck Norris home to my wife. The ribs were tasty but they gave my jaw a workout, which I do not like. The Chuck Norris though was an impressive sandwich. It came on Texas Toast with pulled pork, brisket, fried egg, bacon, onion, and Pimento cheese. The brisket or pulled pork would be what I would go to next time. For my sides, I had beans, potato salad, and Mac and cheese. All were phenomenal but potato salad was the best! It was a mustard base whipped style. The beans were the pinto beans/ranch style with tomatoes and a vinegar taste. The mac and cheese was creamy with goldfish on top. There are 4 sauces and all were phenomenal. I wish I could take all of them home!. You have the tomato bases in a mild, zesty flavor and a spicy, habanero flavor. There is also Carolina Mustard and Bama white. I think I loved the mild the most. There is fresh-brewed sweet tea which is hard to come by in Indiana but this Bama Boy would love it to be more sweeter. It was a step above water. The Chuck Norris, sauces, and sides make Rusty Silo easily a 4-star. If the spare ribs were easier to chew, a 5-star from this guy would have been given.
