the food was great. the lasagna was perfect and the octopus salad was amazing. however, the most memorable part of the meal was the service. Boubou, our server, was incredible !!! I have been to many restaurants all over the world and I had not seen anyone do what she did: I ordered a glass of super toscano. I found it to be bland but refrained from saying anything. boubou came over and asked him about the wine. I told her it was a bit off but I said I could live with it. Boubou grabbed the glass and then proceeded to take a sip !!! she the wine was terrible and darted off to the bar. she came back with a fresh bottle, opened it in front of us and pour me a generous pour. I could not believe what had just u folded in front of us. boubou took customer service to another level. This review is for the lady bartender. She is super rude and condescending. We stopped by to get an appetizer to go and were waiting at the bar. I am pregnant so was waiting in the seat by the bar. There was no one after us so pretty sure we wasnt taking up the space. After paying, the bartender told us to go stand outside because "she was waiting for other customers." It was 4pm on a Monday afternoon, there was no other customers. Didnt want to start an argument so we moved and stood outside to wait. Really wish she had a better attitude and service. read more

I've grown up around the mall my whole life and I don't know why I've never tried this place before! The ambience was so cute - but a little loud and difficult to hear. They had live music with a musician singing & playing his guitar :) The calamari was so delicious! Honestly, a lot of places don't give you a lot of squid AND they use too much batter where it tastes super fried. Quattro cafe gives you the perfect amount of squid and batter where I don't feel sick eating too much lol I also ordered the "seafood pasta." It wasn't on the menu; but it had two prawns, some squid & 2-3 pieces of clams / mussels. Great taste for the pasta and ask for the pink sauce!! I dined here last night. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Immediately after we were seated the server took our drink order and a second person showed up shortly afterwards with waters for the table. After answering questions about the menu, our order was taken. I had the fish of the day, halibut. My husband had pasta and meatballs, kids had fettuccine and chicken tenders- both came with ice cream at the end of the meal. Everything was delicious and freshly prepared! I was especially happy that they accommodated my dietary restrictions and gave me double veggies on my plate. The ambiance was very nice with soft music being played in the background. I brought the girls I babysit here for lunch and in spite of the girls being naughty and misbehaving the staff were incredibly kind, patient, and understanding. I just wanted to leave a positive review because often times businesses don't receive recognition for outstanding customer service. I genuinely appreciate the staff here who were very attentive and helpful all while I was trying to manage the girls and feeling a bit frankly embarrassed and exhausted by their antics. I was aware that other customers were probably assuming they were my own kids and that I didn't know how to keep a handle on them, not that I'm a babysitter trying to juggle high maintenance children who are both headstrong. My wife and I stopped in on Labor Day on a whim. So happy we stopped in! We sat at the counter looking out into the mall. We particularly enjoy sitting there it as we can people watch. We were particularly surprised by the number of people in the mall. Probably people avoiding the heat and paying for their air conditioning!We opened with adult beverages, a Dirty Martini for me a a glass of rosé for my wife. For a starter my wife and I enjoyed their beef carpaccio. So delicious! I do not recall the capers being fried in the past but it added a another layer of texture and flavor! Came to self-celebrate a great day got the Filet Mignon Il Fierro and came with the most amazing mashed potatoes (so silky and flavorful) and veggies (asparagus and carrots). A gem inside South Coast Plaza! It's a perfect place to go for a bottle of wine or cocktails with some delicious food prior to shopping. It gets really crowded (on typical non-covid times at least) so I do recommend making reservations. I recently went and took my mom on Mother's Day weekend for lunch and had the pleasure of having Oswaldo as our waiter. He made our experience over the top. He was extremely attentive and very patient. One of the better experiences I've had in a restaurant! The menu has an amazing variety for everyone but I specifically order the spaghetti in a pink sauce every time (not on the menu) and it never disappoints. Their salads are giant and a perfect shareable plate. Can't forget about dessert either! Amazing panna cotta! Very deserving of 5-stars all around! read more

As far as South Coast Plaza goes, this is the best restaurant you can visit. Their spaghetti pomodoro is insane. You MUST get it with a side of mascarpone cheese. Their coffee is surprisingly good too! It's in a good location within the mall, close to exits for parking and right by the carousel if you have kids. Service has always been excellent every time i've visited. The restaurant is moderately sized so during busy times there may be a short wait time, but the benefit of its location is that you can kill time shopping while you wait. read more

The food? Great. The music? Great. Service? Great! My only concern was with the women's restroom & the baby changing station. The restroom alone was dirty but my biggest concern was with the table. It was brown and clearly had built up dirt from use on the handle and around the edges. The thick layer of dust right above my baby's head shows that this table hasn't been cleaned in ages! YES, I use my own mat to lay him down on BUT this shouldn't be this dirty. Also, for all the parents of kiddos in diapers, the only have a changing table in the women's restroom. They do not have one in the Mens room. I just ask/expect that the restroom & changing station be kept up with the same cleanliness as the rest of the restaurant. read more

We were always curious about this restaurant as we shopped at South Coast and decided to try it today. On a rainy day, the restaurant was quite busy. While we waited over an hour for a table, we hoped that the food would meet up to our high expectations. Unfortunately, this was not the case. We ordered the calamari at $25.00 and found the quantity of food served small. Another table ordered the same and they received a heaping portion. We did not complain. I ordered a vegetarian panini which advertised that it was filled with sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, eggplant, zucchini and cheese. What came out was a sorry combination of only tomatoes, zucchini and cheese. While the service was spot on, we still paid for the bill even though we were quite unhappy. Upon commenting to the person at the reception, his response was that I should no have ordered vegetarian sandwich and that he can only tell the chef. He said that he manager would tell me the same thing. He did not apologize for the poor meal nor offer anything to compensate the quality of our dining experience. By the way we ordered a pasta with salmon and a pizza. The pizza was burnt around the edges and had little cheese. The salmon dish was overwhelming fishy in odor. Came here for lunch on a Thursday afternoon and was seated promptly with no wait. We planned on ordering a pizza and salad to share and that's exactly what we did. The pizza was great and the flavor was on point. The salad was also good and no complaints on either item. Round it out with (2) iced teas and you have yourself a very pleasant lunch. I like how thin the pizza was too, not thick like a novel but thin like a magazine. It feels a little crammed in the seating area, but luckily we went on a day that wasn't super crowded. We were a party of Five last weekend when we dined at this fabulous restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was first class. We happened to dine on their monthly Frank Sinatra night and were treated to live band and a singer belting out Frank Sinatra tunes. Very appropriate since the cuisine is Italian. The ambiance is like being in a quaint Restaurant in Italy if you close your eyes you could be there. My vote is for the Quattro Cafe and Domineco Grillo to be restauranteur of the year. This place is fantastic. The restaurant itself is hectic but every server is in sync that it was satisfying watching every server handle their tables. The food was great as well. My dad got a seafood pasta that was so generous & everything of quality. I got the boloñesa & I honestly didn't think I could be impressed but I am happy to say I was! Pascual was our server and he was so prompt with everything. I finished my drink and 5 seconds later he is off to fetch me another. Always a solid choice for delicious food! Their menu is full of excellent dishes, but top recommendations are the Pollo Marsala and the Risotto Capesante e Scampi. These dishes are full of flavor, but not heavy. The only downsides are the long wait times and the crowdedness of the seating, but those are unsurprising given the great food here. Was great, still good. Quattro Caffe used to be my favorite restaurant! They started to go downhill before Covid, but the slide seems to still be happening. Evan (one of the old day managers) is long gone, but some of the staff still holds to his standard of excellence. Unfortunately, the pizza quality does not. The cheese feels and tastes cheaper (and greasier), the dough isn't quite right anymore, and even the basil is no longer up to snuff. And you have to advocate for yourself just for some crushed red pepper. Still, these would be forgivable, if not for the missing bean dip. Yes, the bread is still offered (but no breadsticks?), but you have to to beg for vinegar, and asking for bean dip went from "Oh, yeah, we have some" to "We'll have to charge you" to "We just ran out" and finally "Bean dip? We never had bean dip, you must be thinking of a different place..." The wait staff, bus service and host service are still great, but they can't serve what the restaurant doesn't have any more, so unfortunately, it's time to take Quattro Caffe of the list. My wife has been here a few times but this was my first time. This place gets very busy, they have indoor and outdoor seating. The food was pretty good, the table bread was a focaccia style bread with oil and vinegar it was fair. The signature Quattro formaggi dish was very decent And I would order it again. You can tell they make the pasta... or the pasta is just that good! Everything we've tried here is delicious. Best chicken fettuccine! The service is amazing too. Boo-boo always takes care of us like family. We've been here three times in the past two weeks. It's that good. The place can get busy and loud but surprisingly sitting outside is a nice escape.
