This is a solid meal offering in this area. Ever since I moved to this area whenever I feel like having a decent meal without breaking the bank this place could be relied upon. The service is solid and one sees a lot of neighbors as regulars both are good signs for repeat visits. I have tried a few pasta dishes and all are top notch. Pizza is decent as well. I have enjoyed a few specials. This isn't avante garde food which is just one needs IMO for a regular spot in a regular neighborhood spot. They do get busy on the weekends so keep that in mind when booking a spot. read more

Well a friend picked this spot for us to have a lunch. I had never heard of it before and actually dlmt really eat in this area. I have been to Terroni before but I have never been impressed by their food and certainly not by their attitude. Anyway this place just ok..we had the arancini balls to start, not bad but the sauce was kind of acidic, and overall it was a little under seasoned. The main ciuse I had the amatricana and it was once again quite acidic and I had zero guaciale flavor in it and never found a piece in it. Really not a good example. My friend had their version or Caesar salad and it looked ok. He also had a burger which looked ok but in my mind way under done with blood running all over his plate.. So glad I didn't get that. On the whole I would never go back, food was very mediocre and not cheap and cheerful either. The service was ok but otherwise I would look elsewhere and probably a different location.... read more

I ended up picking this restaurant because I've seen it come across my Instagram from a few of my friends. It was not what I was expecting at all. It was not good. I don't know if it was an off night , but most of the food that came out especially the apps were not fresh at all. We both ordered pasta. I had to ask for salt for mine hoping it would make it taste better it was awful and my buddy got the special which was a vodka sauce with spaghetti and scallops. The scallops had a very bad fishy taste and the pasta was swimming in sauce . It looked more like a soup. I would not come back. Monday 8:30 pm near Rosedale.... Dark and Rainy and Hungry! Nothing seems to be open... We just want food after our yoga UYE at Roots... One of the regulars at the yoga studio suggested Quanto Basta... So nice to have Quanto Basta taking us in right before closing. The space is nice has this rustic Northern Italian vibe. Gnocchi all'aragosta (lobster & crab in a truffle, prosecco & cream emulsion) $22 tasted so delish! I never into creamy sauce, but this might pasta might change everything... lobster tail...real crab meat with those soft and chewy gnocchi. Oh maybe that truffle does the magic?! I would have ate the whole thing by myself... I can... but it might be just too fattening but well worth all the calories! Our waiter is nice and attentive. I'll start by saying the food is good. The experience not so great. From the second we were seated we were rushed. When two hours were up we were told we had to leave. Asked for coffee but machine was apparently broken. We had no idea there was a 2 hour limit. It was our annual holiday dinner so we were very disappointed. We won't return. My wife and I went to Quanto Basta this past Sunday evening for a quick dinner. We found the staff prompt, helpful and knowledgeable. Quite excellent. We enjoyed a very good bread basket while waiting for the main meal. We both had variations of seafood spaghetti. Everything was most wonderful - the spaghetti, calamari, mussels, clams, and prawns. My daughter and I had a 7 hour layover and besides seeing a couple of Toronto's landmarks we wanted to have one last great meal before boarding our flight to Vancouver. We not only loved the great ambiance, the service was fantastic and THEN....we received our amazingly wonderful tasting and lovely presented lunch! We asked for gluten free options and the food cane with gluten and then they refused to refund us. We wound not go back as result of the sheer rudeness on the phone. Ordered their mushroom pasta (Ravioli Zita e Basta) through UberEats. The taste was okay. But halfway through my meal, I bit into what I thought was a rock. After taking it out of my mouth and cleaning it off, I could tell it was a dime-sized piece of concrete (see attached photos). I called the restaurant and rather calmly and understandingly told them about it. They apologized. That was that...or so I thought. Ten minutes later, I got a call from the restaurant where I was questioned about whether the piece of concrete was perhaps a mushroom. Perhaps I was just confused. It was so comically absurd and such insult to injury. As though I am some blind simpleton who cannot differentiate between a piece of concrete and a mushroom. I am now concerned about my tooth. Hoping there is no damage or pain in the morning. Won't be going anywhere near this restaurant again. read more

My friend has been raving about this place for the past 6 months and since it taunts me everyday on my walk home, I finally made the commitment and went for dinner at Quanto Basta. Nestled on the Rosedale strip, Quanto Basta is a great addition to the delicious Italian fair already offered in the area. They are opened for lunch but bustling during dinner. The bar is always packed with attractive business men, couples and locals conversing over bottles of wine. The owners of the popular, successful Italian restaurant Capoccacia are behind Quanto Basta. (Sidenote: Capoccacia has amazing pizzas.) Service: The staff were very attentive and friendly. Our waitress was very knowledgeable but she seemed a bit impatient and indifferent to us. This bothered me at times but I liked that she wasn't pushy or trying to up sell us. Wine: They have a nice wine list and actually a good list by the glass. I had a light bodied wine which I enjoyed (forgotten the name). I hate when restaurants only offer 4 reds/whites by the glass and they are house/generic versions. Although I love a bottle of wine my head and wallet can't always afford it. Food: Can you say specials! The waitress must have listed about 10 different specials for the evening, which means the Chef is loving what he's doing and imagining creative new spins on Italian eats. The bread: It tasted day old, but they had a special beet spread that not only tasted heavenly but also looked like it would do wonders for my skin. Main: I ordered the ravioli zita e basta (wild mushroom ravioli in a cream truffle sauce). A fragrant, sleep inducing flavorful concoction. I usually can't finish a ravioli cream dish but I didn't have any problems. the garnishing of chives and a enoki mushrooms added a cooling balance to the cream. We only spent 1.5 at the restaurant and I wasn't incredibly hungry to get a full three course experience. I always prefer to spend 2-3 hours to get the full picture. The service is definitely better than average, but it does not make up for the just okay food. I won't go so far as to say they are not making an effort, but it would seem that their attempts at great Italian food falls short; the food lacks flavour, finesse and all that jazz. Excellent choices in design. I came here for brunch. Not too busy, was perfect for finishing some work in a quiet corner in the back. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. However, the food is overpriced. I got the 'Salmone' dish. The smoked salmon and hollandaise were very good, but the hasbrowns as the bed of the dish needed some work. They were not soft, still hard. Definitely needed to be cooked more, or a switch in the choice of potatoes they are using. I was expecting the potatoes to be a smashed potato hash, or something a bit softer. Totally not impressed - and was really looking forward to enjoying dinner here. We started with a lobster bisque and the calamari fritti. Both my husband and I love bisque - but this tasted almost burnt and really over-salted. And very very fishy. I love lobster and seafood, but this just tasted wrong. The calamari honestly looked like something you would get at a crappy chain like TGIFridays or similar. It didn't taste or look like fresh calamari but something you would get from a frozen package. I did enjoy my mushroom ravioli - although they could tone down the cream just a bit. To me it was badly chopped onion and pepper floating in toms clamato. Disgusting. Real gazpacho is not even comparable to this. I lived in Spain several years and can speak freely about this. Truffle app: Very well executed, excellent flavour! Burrata salad: Nice, nothing I could have not prepared at home. Fish stuffed with fennel: Good, althought the filling was not that good, needs some more garlic and seasoning in the supposed marinade. The only good part of this dish was the potatoes and the carrots. Pasta: fantastic, fresh, sauce fresh. I would recommend the owner to be more attentive with the menu, the cooks and prep boys are not really hitting the note. Very expensive for the quality offered. read more

This place is great! My parents and I were looking for a place to eat and found this gem. I ordered the Gnudi Angelina and my parents the three course meal. The soup was very light and cool, perfect for summer. The main courses were delicious, especially the gnudi. The wait wasnt very long, either. Service is excellent! Atmosphere is good except for the open windows to yonge street outside - there was a lot of noise, which the server warned us about, so we chose to sit inside. However, the traffic was still extremely loud, even from the middle of the room. There was also a lot of clanging of pots and pans from the kitchen directly across from us, which would probably be a lot less noticeable at night (we were the first ones to come in this morning). Either way, I would definitely recommend going there again. read more

We booked through Yelp/Open Table, and had a pretty good meal, and left a nice tip, but then discovered that "our reservation had been canceled" according to Yelp/Table. A call to the restaurant did not help - while the maitre d'ess recalled our arrival ( and ticked us off on her iPad) when called by telephone, she had no idea how to correct the error. Emails to Yelp/Open Table came back unanswered. According to them "we get too much spam to respond", so 1/2 hour to 45 minutes was wasted trying to get this corrected. My advice: avoid this place until they come into the 20th Century. If you are starving and need a place to eat, call by dial telephone, or leave tablets of stone. Went here for VDAY and loved the atmosphere. Very cute place. I had a special VDAY cocktail which had no price listed but I figured it'd be 8 or 9 dollars. To my surprise it was $15 which was a bit ridiculous IMO. As for food I had the wild mushroom ravioli and it was AMAZING. The most tastiest pasta dish I've had in awhile. Usually ravioli from Italian places consist of 5 pieces of ravioli but this plate had more than that which was great haha. The warm flour-less chocolate cake for dessert was great as well, not as amazing as Terroni's but still delish! Great spot for a date :) read more

I wanted to try this restaurant and finally got the chance on Father's Day (June 17th 2018). My arrival was greeted with a smile and I was seated in a perfect spot, considering I was by my lonesome (my wife had to attend to a family illness out of town). I was perched on a comfortable bar-stool being able to see pedestrians walk by and/or enter Quanto Basta and to my left I could see action in the open cooking area as well as viewing mixology of spirits and wines. My meal consisted of an app., main course, glass of wine, dessert and Americano. Plates were white and had an appeal. I chose the 'soup du jour' (Lentil soup and what I think was a beef/tomato-type based broth). Hesitating at first and then deciding on the soup was a great choice, as the lentils did not dominate but paired well with the Mom/Grandma-type homemade broth. This beginning had me ready for part 2 (main). I chose the special for the main (never asked the price) - spaghetti and meatballs. Noodles were al dente, the sauce yummy and meatballs petite but very complimentary. I wanted to lick the bowl but did not want to embarrass myself or my she-waiter (waitress/drink maker and goal to be a firefighter). I had a desirable glass of California Merlot by Roth Estate Winery to go along with the main. What the heck - dessert - why not? I had a flourless chocolate cake-yep you read it right 'flourless' with a drizzle of something which I forgot (maybe a light maple syrup) with a dash of icing sugar to give it the final touch. Americano to finish everything off. The best and largest LCBO store is just up the street, interesting shops can make a great outing in itself; side streets are welcoming for walking and it is nice to hear birds sing, especially due to scarceness of hearing birds in the downtown core. I highly recommend this restaurant - you will not be disappointed with the quality of food,choices of food and wine/beer list and plating. I am definitely coming back! Came here with two girlfriends for dinner. With the first bite of my appetizer I was blown away! It was absolutely delicious and decadent. Our mains came out in a timely manner and it was also extremely amazing. Not only was the food good but the service there was extraordinary! The customer service was exceptional. Once we walked in the door we were greeted by two people, and we got sat immediately. Our server was very informative and helped us pair the perfect wine for our food. The decor is really nice and the service was excellent - very attentive and efficient. I am just not giving it five stars because it is a bit pricy for what they offer.
