Without giving too much away, I'd like to highly recommend this escape room! (Be warned, the entrance is a little tricky to spot, but one you're in the parking lot, you'll see "Quandary" signage to guild you in.) Also be warned, tell your guide before-hand whether or not your group is interested in jump-scares! ;) This escape room company had multiple locations, and naturally has multiple room themes to choose from so there's options for everybody! read more

Quandary Escape - "SON OF THE ZODIAC" waiting area - Escape Games Near Me - Wallingford, Connecticut

My family decided to come here for a Sunday Funday activity. We were looking to do something in this area and after loving this companies rooms in Farmington and Rocky Hill, it was the perfect spot. We originally booked one of the rooms but on the way called up and asked if we could switch to the other. Since they had no one coming in after us they had no issue allowing it which was nice. We did the Zodiac Killer. It was an alright room but was all manual locks and puzzles, nothing electronic or anything. A fair escape room, but certainly not as good as the three puzzles we've done at the other two locations. read more

17DADB We the did the "Son of the Zodiac" escape room & it was SO much fun! The story was great, the room was clean and the workers there were very helpful & fun. We loved the true crime feeling we got from the room and story. We will definitely be back for more! Thanks Jamie!! read more

2D0D6F thank you for the wonderful escape room , it was well designed and thought out. When we asked for help along the way it was given very clearly to understand. I will be coming back, and have told all my friends about this place. Harley was awesome thank you read more

First time going to an escape room and I just generally had low expectations since I'm not great at these puzzles/riddles. We (group of 4) did the son of the zodiac room and I was having a great time within 5 minutes in. The story was fun, the theme was great and the game master was awesome. They were very attentive and helped guide us in the right directions once we got really stuck. We were able to solve it with a little less than a minute left and we got a great group picture afterwards. For the price and fun time, I would recommend this place! Note the parking lot can be a bit hard to miss and the signage could be better. But once you go towards the end of the building you'll see the sign and it'll point you to the entrance. read more

Had a great time solving the case with our friends! We had 2 teams go against each other in different rooms to solve the crime! It was engaging, thought provoking and definitely an overall great time had by all! I can't wait to go back and solve the other mystery. Looking for something different to do with friends or family then check out Quandary! A nice clean place(smelled great!), great people, and a fun time. read more

Quandary Escape - The Quandary 2017 - Escape Games Near Me - Wallingford, Connecticut

Such a fun time!!! My folks were in town visiting and, with rainy weather in the forecast, we were searching for something to do with our teenage kids. Our group of 6 booked the Son of the Zodiac room and had a blast!!! Our game master was awesome - very friendly and prompt with the hints when we asked for. The room itself was challenging but very well done. We finished with less than a minute to spare and were so proud of ourselves!!!! Will definitely return to try the other rooms! read more

Had a great time here this past weekend for our girls' night. We had to reschedule originally from December since it snowed but they were nice enough to do that for no additional cost and didn't charge us for the original missed date! Definitely appreciated that. Everything was pretty straight forward. The owners and other workers were very friendly and helpful. In the waiting room are some photos related to the escape rooms in addition to the different types of locks we'd find in the room. When we got in our room we had an hour, which is pretty standard. There were 8 of us so we all worked on different areas. We were told if we needed a clue, we'd hear the phone ring and a clue would appear on the screen. We definitely needed clues a number of times but I like that they don't just tell you the answer. We had things like "keep at what you're doing" or "Say that out loud again." Those helped us solve our puzzle in 49 minutes! In this case we weren't trying to escape our room but rather find the combination to the safe in the room to get the 'loot' after solving the 'crime.' Overall our group really enjoyed this room and I'd definitely come back here to play again. The building itself is a little tricky to find because the parking lot you enter is on the other side of a waterway so you can either cross the bridge or drive over it and park on the other side (which I know now but I didn't the other day). Once inside, just follow signs for the Q. And as a bonus after, one of the employees (owners?) brought out her boston terrier which earned her some brownie points with our pup-loving group. Lots of fun! read more

ESCAPETHEROOMers are very excited to visit Wallingford, Connecticut and were fortunate enough to interview the founders to learn more about their company. The husband has a law enforcement background and the wife has experience in art & design. Combined, they are able to create realistic challenges and puzzles based on their knowledge of the subjects. Quandary is located on the 2nd floor inside of a 150 year old brick building and has a lot of character. They opened to the public two years ago and currently offers 3 rooms (2 of the rooms are identical to each other - so 5 rooms total). We are scheduled to try their newest room "Operation: Gambit" which normally requires a minimum of 4 people to book. As soon as you walk inside the waiting area, you are automatically introduced to the world in the storyline. The props used were very authentic. The area is spacious w/ plenty of background material to support the room's storylines. Once ready, you enter a long eerie hallway w/ doors on each side leading to the rooms. The "Operation: Gambit" room is located at the end and has soon as you enter you are on a movie set. Because the room normally requires a minimum of 4 people, we didn't waste anytime and was able to get out with a few seconds to spare. The room had a good mixture of technological puzzles, decoders, and unique placements of locks to open. The decor and design was quite impressive and we really enjoyed ourselves. Surprised I haven't left a review as I went here well over a year ago. Started getting hooked on escape rooms since I did 3 in California. This was my first I did in Connecticut, and unfortunately our group did not escape. We were about 5 minutes away from finishing the puzzle completely and escaping. We actually felt so dumb when we realized what the answer to the last puzzle was and how to solve it. Brought a group of friends, many who had never done an escape room before. We all greatly enjoyed our time and we definitely had to think! I liked how they did give you hints via a tv in the room if you were really stuck so that we could keep moving forward. Definitely want to come back and try another room and hopefully escape this time!!!! read more

Lots of fun with my co workers here. Rick and Greg were awesome hosts and made the experience enjoyable. This is a unique type of place for a get together with a group instead of the normal restaurant ones. Chris read more

Great place! Lots of fun - one of my favorite escape rooms so far! Friendly staff, clean room, a nice variety of puzzles that went with the theme/story. Highly recommend to anyone - whether it's your first escape room, or one of many. read more

This was my first experience with an escape type room. We went on Saturday with the kids and had a BLAST! There was something for everyone to do. It was a great way for the family to work together as a family. If anything else, it was an hour where the teens didn't have their phones!! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good time. The owners are awesome, the place is awesome and seeing the kids have so much fun was priceless. read more

Such a good time!! Went with my family, split up to see who could get out of the Zodiac room first. Highly recommend escape rooms. The staff here is super awesome, I can't wait to go back! read more

Quandary Escape - Escape Games Near Me - Wallingford, Connecticut

Great location close to Rt 15. Quandary is located right in the center of CT. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by the friendly staff. The briefing prior to entering the room is helpful for first timers and people who are experienced with escape rooms. Everything you need to know is explained including how the locks work in the room. The rooms are well thought out and have many many layers. The staff is attentive giving hints when you need them or ask for them. Every second until you solve the puzzle is engaging and thought provoking. Quandary is worth the drive don't miss this awesome escape room experience read more

It was my first time doing an escape room and I absolutely loved it. I felt like from the moment I arrived in the parking lot I was already in the room. The puzzles were challenging, and the story line had my nerves going. I'd absolutely recommend Quandary to anybody. 5 stars read more

Did the Son of the Zodiac room here about six months ago. It was my first ever escape room experience. Now I've been to two other places and I realize how well done this room was. Had a great time. Excellent room highly recommended but it was quite the challenge for first timers - we totally died! Didn't realize it was the most challenging level when we chose it! read more

So much fun! It was nice to do something different for a change. Great activity to do with others and owners were wonderful! I will be going back for sure read more

Quandary is an awesome experience for anyone interested in trying an escape room and a must try for anyone in the area - and totally worth the drive for anyone who is not. Greg, the super hospitable owner, greeted us and guided us to the Zodiac room which was fun, realistic and challenging. We'll definitely be back and can't wait to try their newest room in the fall! Also, it's very close by to a lot of restaurants if you're looking to do something before or after. Highly recommend! read more

Quandary Escape - Escape Games Near Me - Wallingford, Connecticut

Celebrated a (surprise) 50th birthday with a total of 23 of us. Communication before our event was timely and courteous. During the event the folks at Quandary were helpful, friendly, flexible. The escape rooms themselves were tough (only one room solved in time) but not too tough (the other two rooms were very close). Highly recommended! I look forward to more rooms being opened there. read more

Had a great time with some friends at Quandary! The staff was very friendly and helpful and made sure we had a good experience. Some of our party was running late but Greg was flexible with our starting time as we were the last group that night and brought our friends into the room promptly when they arrived. The room was adequately difficult with great mind games. The clues were helpful but didn't take away from the joy of solving the puzzles on our own. Overall, we had a blast and would definitely go back there again! read more

Just went to Quandary last week as my first escape room experience. We had two large groups and the owners were very accommodating. Since I had never done an escape room, I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was to spend 60 minutes (down to the last second) figuring out the puzzle. This is such a great activity for any group, it really challenges you and gets everyone working as a team. I will definitely be returning, and they have a new room opening soon! Can't wait to try and beat the clock again. read more

What a great time! Did the Zodiac Room, which was very creative and super fun. Without giving away the details, the room clearly reflects a careful and thoughtful design by the game's creator. The decor was really cool and my friends and I had an absolute blast. This is a wonderful idea if you are in the Wallingford area and want to have some food clean fun with others. A note about the people running the show- this is a family run business and the treatment and hospitality is top notch. Great people who truly seemed to care about our experience being the best possible. The room was a 10/10 but the people made it even better. Go here. read more

I live in LA where I've done a bunch of escape rooms with friends. I was home visiting friends and family and decided to check out some rooms while I'm here. The Gambit is the first one I've done since landing and it's easily made my top 5 escape rooms. Set dressing is fantastic. It was really well put together. I especially enjoyed the special lighting and sound effects at certain points in the game (no spoilers ). The puzzles were equal parts challenging and solvable. And an absolute plus for me was no red herrings. I hate when games put extra bits in there just to fool you and eat your time. All the clues here flowed perfectly well. There was great finesse and and eye for detail. The staff was super friendly too. They made sure we were all comfortable with the concept before going in. They were also really good at just knowing when we needed help and a would subtly point us in the right direction. I came with three newbies who haven't done a room before. We managed to get out with a little bit of time to spare. My only suggestion is to definitely get there 15 minutes early especially if you haven't done a room before. There are a couple things you need to watch, waivers, and they let you test out locks to familiarize yourself. Seriously, go check these guys out. I'm definitely planning on going back. read more

Great owner/operators, friendly and very helpful. Well thought out and planned escape rooms. We had a lot of fun doing their first genre room and are eagerly awaiting their next genre room to be available! read more

I'll admit, I thought the idea of escape rooms sounded interesting but why would I want to spend my money on that? Well, I'm here to tell you that it's worth it. A group of 4 of us spent the hour trying to figure out all of the puzzles in the room. This was our first escape room experience and I am happy to say that we will definitely do this again! We had such a fun time and were bummed when we *just* missed the final clue within the last minute of the game. The clues were so well planned out, the props and the atmosphere fit in perfectly with the narrative, and the administrators (not sure if that's the right title) were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Thanks for a great time! read more

My family and I went to our first "escape room" ever at Quandry right before Christmas. Two of the folks were skeptical -- everyone was won over in the end. It was a really great experience from the moment we were greeted. All the staff were welcoming and got us ready to tackle the challenges while having a lot of fun. We managed to eek it out as time ran out, and there wasn't a complaint in the crowd. Very much looking forward to doing another soon! read more

We planned a family outing at the Quandary. We booked two rooms with 4-5 people in each room. It was great, challenging and entertaining.
