My wife and I came and did the asylum escape room. It was a blast! I definitely had the life scared out of me at least 3 times while my wife(the horror fan) barely flinched . The puzzles were challenging but very fun and solvable with good team work. We escaped with about 15 minutes remaining. We plan to come back at some point to try the other rooms they offer. We visited ERC again in Dec 2019 and played their "The Asylum at Fairfield Hills" with our NBC Live friends. THE STORY We are a team of detectives that were being sent into The Asylum at Fairfield Hills to find out what had happened recently to the six paranormal investigators that went missing. Rumor has it, Dr. Borden might be responsible. We need to find the evidence before he gets back. HIT THE BULLSEYE -Unique story line and great flow throughout with very reasonable puzzles. They were not extremely difficult, but you would always be rewarded with a "reveal". -Love the intensity build up from the beginning to the end as the story develops. The change of scenery was well played. -Props used all felt realistic and a few of them caught our teammates off guard and definitely got some "jumps" out of them. MISSED THE MARK -A few special effects could be added to the beginning of the scenery to create a more mysterious "entry" as currently the space feels a bit wasteful for with the number of puzzles its used for. Might also be great to warn players no need to put hands into or touch the wooden pieces for nails or splinter injuries. -One hint on the wall in the latter part of the game was a bit confusing to us as we were able to solve the puzzle without following what the hint told us to do. So we thought it was for another puzzle. It may help to not have that clue to be written on the wall. -Although it's not really a big issue, but it would be great to see more of a variation on the props used to solve a puzzle rather than using the same device again. -The ending could use a bigger "wow" moment for its grand finale. TAKE A SHOT? The atmosphere of the room was eerie throughout but it's not the horror you'll feel at a haunted house. Since we do have readers ask us this all the time, we just wanted to inform them that there are no live actors in the room. It's a great room to play if you like mystery solving in a horror-genre setting. It would be best if you go with a team of four at least, so all the puzzles could be played without bypassing any of the full experience. read more

Kay was our game master and she was amazing! She was fun and seemed to love her job which made our experience even better! We did the stolen relic room and it was such an immersive experience! Definitely better than any escape room I've ever done. Cant wait to go back and try different rooms! My friends want to make it a weekly thing now !! Update: we just did the Asylum room and oh my god! That is what all escape rooms should be like! I did it with 4 friends and I think that's the perfect the perfect amount because everyone could have a say in what was going on. We worked really well together and actually won! Everything flowed so well and the decor was so realistic! This is definitely our favorite room so far that we've ever done! It's not that scary, so if that's holding you back from doing this room, don't over think it and just do it! We can't stop talking about how much we loved this room. Everything about it! read more

We've been to many escape rooms but first time here. We did the relic room. The puzzles are okay but the room has been really poorly maintained so that some of the clues are illegible and/or broken. Overall not worth the money. Desperately needs an update. Puzzle master was nice. read more

Wow. That's all I can say. This was my first escape room experience and I have a feeling it will remain the best. The rooms are so intricate and detailed that i doubt other places can even compete. My friends wanted to do The Stolen Relic room here after a great experience last year (when we did The Terminal). We were a group of 8 and had a lot of fun! Our game master was supportive when we needed to gain some traction but it was not long before we got going. Lots of great elements to this room and definitely more challenging than our last one. Escape Rooms Connecticut was great! They were very helpful and communicative even when their power was out and they might not be able to re-open that night. They called us and let us know and gave us multiple options to move our time or reschedule for a different day completely. We loved the layout of the room we did which was Terminal. The clues flowed nicely, the design was great, and we had a great time! We do advise if you haven't done escape rooms before to try their easier room Sector X. We have done quite a few escape rooms so we pieced together how the clues worked to lead to the next. We almost beat the record time for this also... 3 minutes ahead lol oh well! We enjoyed the rooms, customer service, and friendliness of the staff. We will definitely be back to do their other rooms! :) read more

We recently visited and did the asylum room. The room itself was very fun and they did an amazing job with the atmosphere, the team member we were assigned to give us hints was also great and super helpful and friendly. The booking process itself was strenuous though, please know everyone has to book together all at once! I'm glad they have precautions in place because of the pandemic but wish they were more responsive to calls and email bc we drove out not knowing if all of us would even be able to get in since it privatized the booking my friend made. The biggest issue we faced was that it was nearly impossible to hear the staff member because the equipment is outdated. Totally not her fault, she even gave us a walkie talkie but we still couldnt make out what she was saying. We also did encounter a few puzzles that simply weren't working properly and thankfully she was able to manually make things happen in the room, it wasn't a huge setback to our time but still worth mentioning. Despite these two things we would definitely consider returning! The pricing was reasonable and it was a great time for the friend group :) read more

My little brother suggested going here for my birthday before we went out to dinner. I was game, having done some rooms at a place in NY a few years ago, but it was the last minute and we almost didn't make it happen. Everyone ended up getting here in time though to do the The Relic, and I'm glad we did. The whole family worked together with the guidance of Taylor, our gamemaster who was great, and we were actually able to complete the quest as time was coming down to the wire! There were some clever puzzles and effects, and overall, it was a great time. Check this place out for a fun little adventure. read more

First escape room experience so I cannot compare like many others do in their reviews but this was a LOT of fun. Highly recommend. Great staff and very creative from entry, the actual escape room, the sign in wall with thousands of sign ins ... just very cool all around. The puzzle master was really good as we were all ages 55 to 12 and the first time for everyone so we were truly clueless at first. We almost made it out so it was encouraging that this was a difficult room. We will certainly be back to this business to try other rooms. We're hooked on the experience! read more

Their rooms are very elaborate and created an experience unlike others. We were challenged but had a great time trying to solve the clues. So we booked a private room for our group online using the website. Drove an hour to get there. We were told after signing waivers that the 9 month old baby that was with us would not be allowed in the room. The attendant said "it's all over our website" that no one under ten years old was permitted. While still standing there we brought up the website on our phones (to see how we could have missed this policy when we booked it) and found only one mention of an under ten years old restriction. It was only listed in the FAQ section which we didn't look at as we didn't have any questions. The policy as stated in the FAQ section specified that no one under age 10 could participate, our 9 month old certainly wouldn't have been participating, would have only been there for moral support really. We have completed over 15 escape rooms throughout CT as a family and the baby has been with us for the last 4 rooms that we have done. The attendant stated "I'm not gonna argue with you, it's our policy". While I understand that this policy may have been in place, it is certainly not clearly shown or explained on the website. So disappointed at this experience, unnecessary disappointment and waste of time. read more

We just finished the third and final room at this location and it did not disappoint. The rooms are immersive in their themes, clues are interesting and different. You will not find yourself in a room with solely locks but a variety of types of puzzles that you'll have to solve.
