WOMEN BEWARE OR BUYER BEWARE: A CAUTIONARY TALE: DID THIS HAPPEN BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER WAS AN EASY MARK OR BECAUSE WE TRUST A COMPANY THAT HAS SO MANY POSITIVE GOOGLE REVIEWS. In July of 2019 my daughter had a car accident and after a great deal of research and because it had so many positive reviews, I took it to be repaired at Qualtech on 620 and the Radiator was replaced. Less than a year later ON JULY 2020 the Radiator started leaking fluid rapidly so we took it to the closest shop. An ASC certified mechanic looked at the car and stated that the leak was related to the metal fittings where the transmission hose was screwed to the bottom of the radiator and specifically that it was not done to factory specs. At this point, my daughter mentions that she had the radiator repaired and she called Chris at Qualtech to discuss the massive leak. Chris assured her it was covered under warranty so we paid to get the car moved over to Qualtech. Later that day my daughter receives another phone call from Chris stating that it was going to cost approx $ 550.00 to fix her car. After getting the details from my daughter I called Dalton the ASC mechanic and discussed what she had been told. 1. Qualtech was charging $ 120 dollars for diagnostics 2. Qualtech stated the transmission hose split $ 21.43 + labor 3. The engine needed to flushed $ 182.00. Dalton explained that this was a very simple repair, that diagnostics was not needed because we knew the radiator was leaking, the hose was not split as he looked underneath the car himself, the car was over 100,000 miles and it was not recommended to flush cars with that mileage and that the error was made when Qualtech put in a nonfactory radiator and did not adhere to the specs and more importantly it was a simple bolt repair. I called Chris and ask him to verify what he had said to my daughter and he did. When I mentioned that the car had been seen by an ASC mechanic and that 1, 2, and 3 did not need to be done and that only a bolt needed to be fixed, Chris said he needed to have his mechanic look at car again. In about 30 minutes my daughter got a call back- note not me, and she was told that the car was going to be repaired for free because " trans cooler line blew off of vehicle covered under warranty due to incorrect position of the fitting where the line is attached causing the line to split". I cannot tell you how sad I am about this. We all work very hard for our money and want people and businesses to do the right thing. Had I not had Dalton to guide me I would have spent unnecessary money. I learned a very valuable lesson. Always get a second opinion even if they have a 4.9 in their reviews. read more

Amazing! I lucked into Qualtech after haven taken my car to a Car-X just down the street from there. My car was making a lot of noise, at first I thought it was the muffler but when I checked I discovered that the pipe was broken off at the manifold. The Car-X told me that my repairs were going to cost $2800 dollars to start! They said that I had to replace everything from the manifold to the muffler. They told me the turbo in my car was leaking and needed to be replaced and on and on. The guy at Car-X told me that if it were him he wouldn't bother fixing the car because it wasn't worth it. He even offered to buy my car for $500 as he said that because of the repairs it wasn't worth more than that. I was stunned. I was not expecting this. My car was driving fine. All I needed was the broken part fixed. I loved my car and furthermore I was not prepared to buy a new car. I left Car-x to go home, contemplating having to buy a new car. By chance, I decided to stop at Qualtech which was on the way home. The guys at the front desk were extremely nice and helpful. They listened and reassured me and said that they would take a look at my car. They offered me a ride home and less than an hour after they dropped me off they called me and let me know that my catalytic converter was broken off at the manifold and had to be replaced. They said that they checked the turbo and found nothing wrong with it. Furthermore, they said that other than my catalytic converter my car was in excellent condition. In the end, it only cost me just over $500 to fix my car. Two years later I'm still driving my car that was supposedly too far gone according to Car-X. Sure I've had the usual maintenance issues since then, brakes etc., but the people at Qualtech go out of their way to save me money. It just does not get any better than this. Honesty is something sorely lacking in our institutions and businesses. I value honesty and the people at Qualtech are HONEST. I don't care where I am in Austin even if I have to drive clear across town, I will only take my car to Qualtech. They have a customer for life! read more

We have used QualTech many times to service our vehicles, but our most recent service with them really cemented our appreciation for their excellent customer service. After recent troubles with my mom's car not restarting at Jiffy Lube, we had it towed to QualTech Automotive to get it repaired. After working on it for several days, they could not get the problem to repeat-the car started up for them every time they went to work on it. Since we only had it at Jiffy Lube to get the state inspection done in the first place, we had it completed at QualTech instead, and our entire bill for their service to the vehicle was under $20. I cannot sing the praises of QualTech highly enough. The employees, especially Ritchie, are always professional, courteous and willing to explain things to me until I'm satisfied I understand. They could have easily told me something was wrong with the car and charged me for unneeded repairs, and I would have paid it, being none the wiser. The fact that they were honest, telling me nothing is wrong with the car, speaks volumes for their company's character. If you are in need of service for your vehicles, I definitely recommend them! read more

I've been taking my car to these guys for years and I swear their customer service just keeps getting better. Last Friday, in the late afternoon, I jumped in my car and it gave me a low battery warning and started with a sputter. Bad timing! I drove straight to QualTech and, not surprisingly, their mechanics were completely booked up. These guys are not hurting for business. Michael came out from behind the desk and offered to check my battery for me right then and there. Sure enough, it was very close to being completely dead. Not only that, but they didn't have my particular battery in stock. So late on a Friday afternoon, with half of Austin arriving to pick up their cars, the rest of the front desk team filled in while Michael left to go and get me a battery and then install it himself. I was in and out in under an hour with a brand new battery on Friday rather than stuck with a dead car on Saturday. If I could give them more than a five star rating, I would. read more

My family recently moved to Austin and immediately we needed the A/C fixed. Qual Tech did a fine job with the repair, but that's not why I'm taking the time to give them a good review. Rather, the day after the A/C repair, I heard a scraping noise in our other car...sounded like the emergency brake wasn't completing disengaging. I took it to Qual Tech, and they found a small rock lodged between the caliper and the rotor. Didn't charge me a cent. A few days later, I was changing the license plates from DC to TX, and I couldn't remove 3 of the bolts that were holding the old DC plates. Sheepishly, I brought it to Qual Tech. They spent nearly 30 minutes getting those 3 bolts loosened. Again, didn't charge me a cent. They actually seemed to enjoy the challenge. I tried very hard to tip them, but they wouldn't take any cash for it. Impressive. read more

I couldn't be happier with Billy and his crew. Trust is not a word I used lightly, but in QualTech case they have it. Billy has worked on my vehicles since we've moved to Cedar Park 10+ yrs ago. His mechanics have done great work on all three of our vehicles and have consistantly given us great service and quality work. He is always been a man of integrity since we've know him and has built himself a great team at his new shop. I wouldn't go anywhere else and if anyone has had bad experiences with other repair shops, they should try Billy and Qualtech and you will understand what I'm talking about from the first time you try them. I live in Leander and would drive out of my way(and I have) to have Billy work on my vehicles. One of kind shop run by a one of kind mind. Highly recommend. read more

4 of my neighbors highly recommended Qualtech so I took my car to them and they were great. What great characters! They checked on some of the items that the toyota dealership said needed "immediate attention" and which the prius forum and the manufacturers maintenance shedule said would be ok for another 30k miles (that's 2 years at my mileage). These items did not need doing. The toyota dealership estimate was for over $800 for what they said needed "immediate attention". In the end, I paid $35 and changed the air and cabin filter myself and just under $100 to Qualtech for doing the transmission fluid (with toyota fluid). I am another fan of Qualtech and the guys there. - show quoted text - read more

The only regret I have is not finding QualTech earlier in life. It would have saved me the extra cost of repairs from shoddy second rate aamco work. Its refreshing to have a mechanic that is not out to screw you over and actually cares for your situation and treats your truck as he would his own. My truck is a Ford E350 Super Duty 6.0 Diesel that I bought brand new with 7 miles on the odometer. She means alot to me and for the first time in a long time I am comfortable leaving her in another's hands. Thank You to everyone @ Qual Tech! P.S. A/C is blowing Ice cold and the trany is shifting like she did the day I brought her home. TY... read more

Amazing Service in a timely manner! This was my first time getting service done there and I was really encouraged by how knowledgeable their staff was. I mostly worked with Mike who had awesome customer skills. I could tell he was really intent on finding out the issue with my 2012 Nissan Sentra. The service was done in an extremely timely manner. I was thinking my car needed couple days work, I checked in my car around 1:30pm and it was done being serviced around 4:20pm same day. Awesome professionals is all I have to say about Qualitech Automotive. Thanks Mike! read more

I've gone to Qualtech since they opened many years ago in the same location on RR620 as Kurt's Autowerks before them. Kurt's was a fabulous garage and Qualtech appears to be maintaining the same standard. Their technicians are knowledgeable and their prices reasonable. Ryan was my service advisor recently and he kept me well-informed during diagnostics, pricing, and completion. The tech/mechanic (I didn't get his name) did a good job and the car was returned clean. I've used Qualtech for all my cars and never consider going elsewhere for major repair work. -DH read more

I've moved all over the country (six times) and worked for an automotitive manufacturer. My opinion of service shops had not been high, but Qualtech changed this skeptic. I am thrilled with their service and reasonable prices. I was so impressed after they installed new brakes and tires on my Odyssey, I convinced my husband to get a second opinion on his Audi (his baby). He was happy with their service and ecstatic that the cost was 1/2 of the dealer's quote. Billy, the owner, even introduced himself and thanked us for the business. Qualtech is the best!! read more

Billy and his crew have been awesome to me. I've been coming here for about 6 months now with both my Dodge Ram 1500 (2002) and Jeep Liberty (2007), both of which have 100,000+ miles on them. I knew I was at the right place when they replaced my exhaust system. Not only did they replace it, but they fabricated the part they needed right in the shop. They fixed the issue for less than $300 and this was after another mechanic told me I needed a new catalytic converter. Very happy with these guys. You will be too. read more

I Just brought my car in to get my tires changed!! The people there are so friendly!! Such a relief to find these guys. They may well not be the cheapest around but they are the best. I now no longer stress when the car needs work as I know I will get honest, quality service in a really friendly environment. If you are done with intimidating workshops and worrying if you are being ripped off then call Qualtech. Its like having your favourite uncle looking after your motoring needs - if your favourite uncle was also a great mechanic :) read more

I have a Dodge Viper with several years and miles on it. The guys at QualTech have done better work on it for a fraction of the price I was paying at the dealership. More than once, they diagnosed and fixed something with one of my vehicles, on the spot ... and charged nothing. A lot of shops would have charged the full hour of labor (or more, heaven forbid). They've done excellent work on three of my vehicles and I highly recommend them. read more

Well...once again Qualtech saved the day!! I took my car in thinking something was seriously wrong and expecting the worst. Thanks go out to Paul and Marcos for getting me right in and checking the problem !! They found a minor issue and sent me on my way at no charge! The guys there are honest and knowledgeable, friendly and courteous...I am sure I will be back!! God bless Qualtech!!! read more

The Qualtech staff is experienced, friendly, professional and always so attentive. They take the time to explain car problems and the solutions and they go out of their way to be accommodating. This last car repair had Chris Cross as the service advisor and I am so grateful for his upbeat, positive attitude and for his knowledge. We always recommend Qualtech to everyone we know! read more

I have been taking my car to QualTech on 620 in Austin for over 5 years now. Never a complaint, guys have great attitude and good coffee!! Richie and Billy and Bob and the guys are all COMPETANT...I need that because I can hardly change a spark plug and wouldn't anyway. They don't surprise you with doing things you don't need. Would not go anywhere else. read more

We came there to have our car looked at before driving back to NY from SXSW. They fixed our car and thoroughly explained the problem to us so that now we can keep an eye on it in New York. I only wish they were closer or they would be the only mechanic we would see. They are honest and kind people. read more
