Jerry's Garage lives up to its 5-star rating! We needed their help with one of our cars so I called and asked how soon they could get to us. Charlie, the guy I spoke to when I called, told me straight up that he could not get to us for a week. We agreed that I would bring our car to him the following week. When I took the car to him and explained what needed to be done, he, again, told me straight up how long the repair would take, including the delay due to the CDK cyber issue. Charlie called me two hours after we left the car, told me what needed to be done, and that he might be able to source the parts locally. He then quoted me the cost of the repair. The cost was 1/3rd of what we had expected to pay! The next day, we received notice midday that the car was ready to pick up! We were shocked that it was ready so quickly! We have now taken a couple of our cars to Jerry's. For things as simple as a regular oil change to needing a throttle cable replaced and several things in between. They are usually pretty busy, so you should plan on calling ahead and seeing when they can fit you in. We found that getting parts took a little while, but that's not something that they have control over. Despite some of the waiting, Jerry's has affordable pricing and they are very communicative when you've left your car with them. Called me with a quote and that is the price I was invoiced. Took me a minute to find the garage, if you find the Valero Gas Station you are pretty much there. This is my first time using Jerrys Garage and only the third time in 30 years having someone other than myself work on my car. I've owned my own maintenance and repair shops so I know a bit about cars. I'm now retired and can't work on my car anymore so I'm highly discriminating. With that said, this is my experience. My air conditioning (Freon) line broke. I called Mac Haik Ford and they refused to quote the replacement of the line and recharge of the Freon. They wanted to charge me $150 for a diagnostic even though I told them what the problem was. I then called Sun Auto in Rivery and they kept me on the phone for 30 mins telling me how I could be wrong and there may be another problem. They were also trying to upsell me on a diagnostic service and told me they couldn't warranty the service without it. I told them I know what I'm doing and can see the broken line. I agreed to come in for a quote. It was $675. They talked about being willing to price match and wanting to earn my long term business but if their price is high this time, won't it always be? Of course it will. I may not get burned this time with a price match but I will every other time so no thanks for the price match. I checked Yelp and saw Jerry's Garage had all 5 star reviews (63 of them) so I called them and went in for a quote. In and out in a couple minutes and he called me back with the quote VERY quickly! I think in around 30 minutes. It was $550. I made an appointment for Thursday and dropped it off on that day. Jerry's is an old fashioned mechanic shop. No frills. No waiting area. It's also hard to find because it's actually not on AW Grimes but down a gravel road behind Circle K (actually on the north side). The people are nice too. The "Managers" are Todd and Charlie which are Jerry's sons. I dealt with Charlie. Very nice guy. Ok back to the repair. They said they were going to use a Ford part which I know is more expensive and they were much less expensive than Sun Auto. At this point, I'm very happy. Oh, when I dropped it off, Charlie remembered me. So, I dropped it off at 9 am and it was finished by 2 pm. AC works great. When I went to pay, Charlie said, oh you are a new customer. I forgot to include the new customer discount (which turn out to be 10%), so my bill was $500, tax included. That saved me 25% from what Sun Auto wanted even without their diagnostic fee. By the way, it seems like every shop wants to pad the bill with a diagnostic fee. Most of the time, a good mechanic can tell in minutes what's wrong so be wary of anyone that wants to charge one. But, sometimes they are the right thing to do. In my case I knew exactly what was wrong and Charlie said I was right so kudos to him! In summary, I recommend Jerry's Garage. They do a good job at a fair price. They aren't the prettiest or fanciest but they get the job done and don't try to take advantage of you. They will be my go to guys and I will refer people to them. read more

I will give them 5 stars because they deserve it. My husband ken dropped my car to replace the catalytic converter and after 4 days they finish the job . They give us 10% discount and I was happy. When I drove my car on the way home I noticed a crack on my windshield. I was not able to inform the damage to the business because they were closed and it was Friday of last week. Money husband called the shop and the owner said " I guess we owe you a windshield " the response was quite cute and Tuesday the glass company came to our house and fix the windshield. I will go back to this place again I am sure the crack on the windshield is just an accident what is important is they take care of the problem quick. I recommend this place . I took my car to the Mazda dealership for routine maintenance and the service guys "discovered" that I needed over $5K worth of repair on a 3 year old car. I was INCREDIBLY suspicious, especially since the rep was extra patronizing. I played into it and told the rep with wide-eyed wonder that I would "have to check with my husband" before authorizing the repair. (Not true.) Then I headed straight to Jerry's. Charlie dismissed most of the repairs and fixed the one actual issue for 1/10th of the price. That was five years ago and I never looked back. These guys are so nice and aren't even remotely condescending. If there was a slight downside, it's that there's no waiting room per se, you should always plan to drop the car off if you can. But honestly, for the $4500 difference, I can buy my own espresso machine and cookies and a flipping sofa too. The fancy waiting rooms at the dealership service areas aren't worth the feeling of trust and security that I experience at Jerry's. read more

I really trust these guys. Charlie and Todd are completely reliable. I have taken both my cars to Jerry's several times over the last 7+ years. Every time, they treat me well and provide reliable service. I can think of 3 times when I brought my cars in specifying a relatively expensive repair only to have Jerry's find a much less expensive cause. Nothing boosts my confidence in them like this type of thing. On one occasion, I had to take my truck in for an issue after a previous repair. I was expecting an unrelated problem and additional expense, but Jerry's found a problem related to their work, fixed it (without charge of course) and returned my truck quickly. They've always given detailed explanations of issues before and after working on our cars, which helps build confidence in their knowledge and abilities, and it helps our technical knowledge. PRICING: Prices have always been reasonable and competitive, and turnaround on work has been expeditious, even on their busy days. HONEST ESTIMATES: They give a no BS estimate and recommendations, and have actually said when things DIDN'T need to be fixed or replaced- offering only the work that needs to get done. That in itself is counterculture to the vast majority of places too quick to stack the recommended work with fluffy nonsense repairs they claim are urgent. FRIENDLY STAFF: If the friendliness of the staff doesn't win you over, there are about 3 of the friendliest laid-back dogs that randomly roam the grounds to greet visitors that may do the trick. read more

Jerry's garage saved the day, well the month of October. Having the water pump go out in my wife's car we took it to the dealership to be fixed. After 11 days we finally got it back. Well 5 days later the ac stops blowing cold. Take it back to dealership and 4 days later they say it was a fuse and it's fixed. Now we go 3 days and the ac stops blowing cold again. Now we are frustrated because the dealership had to mess with the ac to fix the water pump but aren't really wanting to be held accountable and keep making excuses. Finally the dealership says need ac compressor and cost is basically $1500. At this point I want a second opinion and call Jerry's garage got the car in early afternoon and they have diagnosis in less than 3 hours. Yes it was the ac compressor but the reason I needed one the dealership never mentioned reasonings. When the water pump went out and leaked the water had leaked into the compressor and caused corrosion making the compressor short out. All in all Jerry's garage communicated with us and fixed the issue for about $400 less than what the dealership did and I never felt confident with the dealership. read more

I've been a customer of Jerry's garage since I moved to Round Rock in 2011. They have worked on my Toyota Siennas, Highlander, Lexus 350 and my 1999 Ford E250 cargo van. I could not be happier with their service. Consistent and reliable service. If they fix it, it works, and for a long time. Over and over Charlie has saved me money. I get a quote from Firestone (who I use for oil changes and tires) for items they say I need done. I take it to Charlie and always find out that there are items on there that were unnecessary, or there are better and less expensive ways of doing it.
