Snowballs are starting to grow on me again. There're two great places: one on Falls Road, another on Reisterstown Road heading toward Glyndon. However, Quality Snowballs opened in 2019 in Hampden, just before the pandemic hit and became an outside comfort food go-to when we badly needed an outside social event to uplift us. They have a classics and specialties list and the usual fun toppings. Service is good from their dolled up open storage container--and the whole point, still, is the social aspect of standing online with others of your species in thrall to one of the food mysteries of modern times--the snowball! Anyhoo, I'm a purest and always go for traditional before I try anything new. So I ordered a watermelon and strawberry flavor combo with marshmallow. Wow this place is a treat! After brunch we walked over and I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I want to go and try all of the specials. The locals said egg custard was a classic choice and it was delicious. My friends got key lime pie, and the other got the creme brulee. I wish I had gotten the creme brulee with the berries and the stick of cracked sugar on the top. The staff were efficient and super friendly. Sure you have to take it go, but Hampden is a nice place to walk around, hey you might even bump into John Waters. read more

I absolutely love Quality Snowballs! It was my 1st time here last week and after trying it I see why they have lines lol. I got the blood orange, lime and watermelon with a marshmallow like custard topping. It was so delicious and worth the wait. I'm unsure if everyday there are waits but it could be bc I was there in the evening. The parking is a bit tight on the street, but then again it's probably because I stopped by during peak hours. I wish this place was open year round! It is a shipping container that sits in an alley way but they whip up the best snowballs ever!! If you are not into super fancy snowball options, you can also get your traditional w/ or w/o marshmallows. My favorite one is the strawberry shortcake and no matter how much I try to get myself to try a new one, I always find that is the one I go back to! It is cash only but if you forget, there is an ATM right next to it. There are no seats but the best thing is that it sits next to this amazing mural! It is such a great picture opportunity! The service is quick too, there are usually 2 staff working every time I have gone and they whip it up fast! During peak hours, the stand can get pretty packed, but the stand has always kept a pretty steady pace of turning out snowballs to keep the wait times at a minimum. Food: 5/5. Hands down the best snowballs in Baltimore. Quality Snowballs has an extensive menu ranging from the traditional flavors all the way to the downright gourmet. Over the past few summers, I have tried the s'mores, strawberry shortcake, banana cream pie, snickerdoodle, creme brulee and rosemary lemon cream with all of them being fantastic. The flavor profiles are well represented in each, as well as the ice quality being the perfect consistency (not too fine, but still has a little crunch). You can also build your own concoction using their elite ingredients such as torched marshmallow, fresh cut fruit etc. Overall, you can't go wrong with any creation from Quality Snowballs. Not quite living up to the name. My family and I visited twice in one week both times the snow balls were rock hard, reminded me of the snow cones from the shows at the Baltimore arena as a child. Super hard, lacking flavor and just ice. It's unfortunate because this place use to be pretty good. We thought the second visit would be better but nope, it was even worst. Quality indeed, their name describes their product perfectly. They offer a plethora of typical traditional (just syrup & ice) snowballs flavors, as well as an even larger amount of deluxe snowball flavor combinations. The staff was super friendly providing feedback on each deluxe combo, though I wish they had a list of the flavor combos somewhere, so I did not feel bad asking what was in each (also holding up the line). We settled on the Kitchen Sink Cheesecake & Smores w. added ice cream at the bottom. Selecting mediums provided more than enough to eat! The Kitchen Sink really did have a lot going on, w.chunks of toffee, pretzels, chips, marshmallow crème; while the Smores had so many pieces of graham cracker (the cereal bits) & toasted marshmallow over top. What I really enjoyed was the way they blended and layered the ingredients throughout the snowball. It wasn't just a pile of toppings on top then nothing but ice on the bottom, they did a really great job spreading ingredients throughout. These sure are quality snowballs! Chad Gauss, the chef and owner of Food Market (one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Baltimore), has done it again with his snowball stand across the street. There are lots of markers for social distancing in the queue and they're so cute you won't mind waiting in line. They have more traditional snowball flavors available as well as some "deluxe" flavors which are definitely worth a try. I had the watermelon lime basil and it was extremely refreshing and delicious. My partner in crime got the kitchen sink and enjoyed the salty sweet combo. Based off of the fancy flavors alone, this is a snowball stand you must visit this summer! Located in Hampden, this gem is a cute little snowball stand. Charming in Charm City!! They have a tons of snowball flavors-- from the basic cherry or skylite, to fancy flavors like watermelon, basil & lime and strawberry shortcake. There hasn't been a snowball from Quality that I didn't like. This particular visit I had the Fried Ice Cream snowball. It's ice cream flavored ice, with a chunk of "fried" ice cream on top and rainbow sprinkles. It was EVERYTHING! My friends got the Strawberry Shortcake and the Cap'n Crunch and loved every bite!!! I visited this cool stand for the first time the other day. I love that customers have a choice of really unique flavors and the classic flavors. They also offer condensed milk as a topping which I thought was super cool. Their marshmallow is probably one of the best I've had because it does not clump together. They also aren't stingy with it. Their speciality snowballs come with cool toppings which I really love. I ordered the Watermelon, Basil and Lime which came with watermelon on the top along with some basil and a lime wedge. My friend ordered the s'mores (I'm sure you can guess what comes on that! Lol). I also came back a couple days later and ordered the peaches and cream! The only negatives I would say is that my friend found a big chunk of shaved ice in hers, and they lack when it comes to the syrups. If you like yours with a lot of juice, I would tell them extra. There's flavors and combos that I've never seen or heard of before.  Because Creme Brulee is one of my favorite desserts I just had to try it in snowball form.  I liked it but didn't love it.  My first 2 scoops made me so happy.  It really tastes like Creme Brulee in a snowball.  Towards the middle and  most certainly towards the end it didn't taste like a Creme Brulee at all.  It tasted more like sweet, condensed milk.  The creme brulee flavor was only at the top.  I plan to go back and try many others because I just LOVE snowballs and I love the many different options Quality Snowballs have. read more

It is a tiny box which holds a multitude of creative ingredients and two hardworking employees who do not seem to be intimidated by the long line that flushes around the corner. My fiancé and I decided to try this popular snowball place on a Sunday evening to see if it really was as good as people said it was. My favorite snow ball flavor is egg custard. I tried it with marshmallows first time! Total game changer. My fiancé got the same thing but with toasted marshmallows. The only thing I didn't like about this place was that they are cash only. They offer the classic flavors and also have a menu of specialty snowballs that are really amazing. This isn't your classic, standard, syrupy stand. The flavors are really refined with options such as luxardo cherry and condensed milk (together) to cantaloupe jalapeño and rosemary lemon cream. I had the grapefruit basil creamsicle and it was light and rich with fresh basil. My fiancé had the root beer float which comes with ice cream and cream and he loved it. My sister has been raving about this place so on a scorching hot Sunday afternoon, we walked about 30 mins outside for some snowballs..(?). It kind of blew my mind when I saw a small stall where people were lining up. Maintaining social distance, we got to order after waiting for about 20 minutes. The overwhelming sense of how many flavors you could choose for was the initial conundrum.. and then you can have a choice of sour, double syrup etc. I had the peach and cream which wasn't bad but I think my sisters husbands key lime pie flavor was the best! It had key lime snow cone syrup, cream on top then crumbs of Cookie... it was sooo good. The only thing that I would have added was some 'sour' flavor to the key lime flavor. It would have been just so perfect then!
