My sister and I went one day and the snowballs were okay. She loved hers, but I didn't like mine so much. It was an okay flavor, nothing to write home about. Would go again if it were really hot and I was near. I do love how they had captain crunch as a topping. Two young ladies were there, one was very pleasant while the other was extremely awkward and just stared at us, but no bad vibes. read more

Quality Snowballs - Shaved Ice Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Snowballs are starting to grow on me again. There're two great places: one on Falls Road, another on Reisterstown Road heading toward Glyndon. However, Quality Snowballs opened in 2019 in Hampden, just before the pandemic hit and became an outside comfort food go-to when we badly needed an outside social event to uplift us. They have a classics and specialties list and the usual fun toppings. Service is good from their dolled up open storage container--and the whole point, still, is the social aspect of standing online with others of your species in thrall to one of the food mysteries of modern times--the snowball! Anyhoo, I'm a purest and always go for traditional before I try anything new. So I ordered a watermelon and strawberry flavor combo with marshmallow. It was just what I needed on this hot summer afternoon as I wandered around Hampden. Mural Bonus: Check out the Hon-Rat mural nearby. Definitely a destination spot for snowball and mural aficionados! read more

Wow this place is a treat! After brunch we walked over and I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I want to go and try all of the specials. The locals said egg custard was a classic choice and it was delicious. My friends got key lime pie, and the other got the creme brulee. I wish I had gotten the creme brulee with the berries and the stick of cracked sugar on the top. The staff were efficient and super friendly. Sure you have to take it go, but Hampden is a nice place to walk around, hey you might even bump into John Waters. read more

Had the mango float snowball!! so good!! done very quickly and great service. thank you!

I absolutely love Quality Snowballs! It was my 1st time here last week and after trying it I see why they have lines lol. I got the blood orange, lime and watermelon with a marshmallow like custard topping. It was so delicious and worth the wait. I'm unsure if everyday there are waits but it could be bc I was there in the evening. The parking is a bit tight on the street, but then again it's probably because I stopped by during peak hours. I will be back for another! read more

Best Snowballs in Town! Quality Snowballs truly lives up to its name! From the moment I walked up, I was greeted with friendly service and a menu full of delicious, nostalgic flavors. The texture of the ice was perfect--soft, fluffy, and never chunky or watery. I tried peaches and cream and crème brûlée and both were absolutely amazing. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the flavor variety is impressive--there's something for everyone. You can tell they care about getting every detail right. This is my new go-to summer treat spot. Highly recommend if you're looking for the real deal when it comes to snowballs! read more

Great variety of choices. Unique and great tasting. Friendly and efficient service. The best snowballs in Baltimore.

I wish this place was open year round! It is a shipping container that sits in an alley way but they whip up the best snowballs ever!! If you are not into super fancy snowball options, you can also get your traditional w/ or w/o marshmallows. My favorite one is the strawberry shortcake and no matter how much I try to get myself to try a new one, I always find that is the one I go back to! It is cash only but if you forget, there is an ATM right next to it. There are no seats but the best thing is that it sits next to this amazing mural! It is such a great picture opportunity! The service is quick too, there are usually 2 staff working every time I have gone and they whip it up fast! Since it sits surrounded by such great restaurants, it is a nice way to end the evening with a sweet treat! read more

TLDR: Artisan snowballs that are truly unique to Baltimore. Cash only! Vibe: 4/5. Situated right across the street from their owners, The Food Market, Quality Snowballs embodies the trendy Baltimore snowball stand vibe. The stand itself is a repurposed shipping container that is nicely adorned with an eye catching paint job. Though there are no tables or chairs provided, there are plenty of places to lean against while you enjoy your snowball, including the huge Instagram friendly alley way mural located to the immediate right of the stand. Be warned, the stand is strictly cash only, however there is conveniently an M&T ATM literally right next to Quality Snowballs. Service: 5/5. The staff at Quality Snowballs has always been very helpful and efficient. Some of the menu, especially the specialty menu, has several concoctions that require an explanation as to what makes up the snowball. The staff has always been more than welcome to break down what goes in and provide their opinion on how it tastes. During peak hours, the stand can get pretty packed, but the stand has always kept a pretty steady pace of turning out snowballs to keep the wait times at a minimum. Food: 5/5. Hands down the best snowballs in Baltimore. Quality Snowballs has an extensive menu ranging from the traditional flavors all the way to the downright gourmet. Over the past few summers, I have tried the s'mores, strawberry shortcake, banana cream pie, snickerdoodle, creme brulee and rosemary lemon cream with all of them being fantastic. The flavor profiles are well represented in each, as well as the ice quality being the perfect consistency (not too fine, but still has a little crunch). You can also build your own concoction using their elite ingredients such as torched marshmallow, fresh cut fruit etc. Overall, you can't go wrong with any creation from Quality Snowballs. If you ever find yourself up in Hampden for dinner, make sure to swing by the stand for dessert! read more

Not quite living up to the name. My family and I visited twice in one week both times the snow balls were rock hard, reminded me of the snow cones from the shows at the Baltimore arena as a child. Super hard, lacking flavor and just ice. It's unfortunate because this place use to be pretty good. We thought the second visit would be better but nope, it was even worst. I wouldn't recommend this place anymore. Their menu and custom snowballs sounds nice but it's definitely lacking quality. read more

They have the best creativity when it comes to their snowballs. They have all the original flavors and classics, but then on the right side of the menu they have all these amazing creations they've come up with that look and taste amazing. I'd recommend the PBJ and banana. I've been eating snowballs for 25 years and thst may be one of the best I've ever had. Classic flavors like egg custard and lemon are also spot on. Regular flavors: small $4 | regular $5 Speciality snowballs: small $6 | regular $7 Most add ons .50¢ 7 days a week, super cool store front in half of a freight container. Step past M&T on the 7/eleven side of 36th street and it's sitting there waiting for you. The young women working the counter are very friendly. Remember to tip! Check them out on social media and support small businesses first. read more

I just moved to Baltimore, and I was so excited to try my first snowball! (Since the move, I learned that snowballs started out in Baltimore in the 1800s!) I was walking by Quality on a hot day and stopped by, giddy with excitement. The menu is enormous, but I figured that since I live in the neighborhood, there will be plenty of chances to try more flavors and tried passionfruit. It was refreshing on a hot day! I got it naked this time, but I'm looking forward to trying out the marshmallow top next time! Heads up - it's cash only! But check it on a hot steamy day! read more

Quality indeed, their name describes their product perfectly. They offer a plethora of typical traditional (just syrup & ice) snowballs flavors, as well as an even larger amount of deluxe snowball flavor combinations. The staff was super friendly providing feedback on each deluxe combo, though I wish they had a list of the flavor combos somewhere, so I did not feel bad asking what was in each (also holding up the line). We settled on the Kitchen Sink Cheesecake & Smores w. added ice cream at the bottom. Selecting mediums provided more than enough to eat! The Kitchen Sink really did have a lot going on, w.chunks of toffee, pretzels, chips, marshmallow crème; while the Smores had so many pieces of graham cracker (the cereal bits) & toasted marshmallow over top. What I really enjoyed was the way they blended and layered the ingredients throughout the snowball. It wasn't just a pile of toppings on top then nothing but ice on the bottom, they did a really great job spreading ingredients throughout. Remember CASH ONLY & please follow the really cute social distancing markers they put on the ground to ensure everyone's safety! Would definitely go back to run through more flavors :) read more

These sure are quality snowballs! Chad Gauss, the chef and owner of Food Market (one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Baltimore), has done it again with his snowball stand across the street. There are lots of markers for social distancing in the queue and they're so cute you won't mind waiting in line. They have more traditional snowball flavors available as well as some "deluxe" flavors which are definitely worth a try. I had the watermelon lime basil and it was extremely refreshing and delicious. My partner in crime got the kitchen sink and enjoyed the salty sweet combo. I always love a scoop of ice cream in my snowball so definitely don't forget to add that to yours if you're like me and like to add that creamy texture and taste to your nice cool, icy snowball. read more

Based off of the fancy flavors alone, this is a snowball stand you must visit this summer! Located in Hampden, this gem is a cute little snowball stand. Charming in Charm City!! They have a tons of snowball flavors-- from the basic cherry or skylite, to fancy flavors like watermelon, basil & lime and strawberry shortcake. There hasn't been a snowball from Quality that I didn't like. This particular visit I had the Fried Ice Cream snowball. It's ice cream flavored ice, with a chunk of "fried" ice cream on top and rainbow sprinkles. It was EVERYTHING! My friends got the Strawberry Shortcake and the Cap'n Crunch and loved every bite!!! I think I have a new snowball staple to add to my pool! I can't wait to go back! read more

This was so good. Such a treat on a hot summer day. Loved having fruit pieces in my snowball. Definitely will be back.

I visited this cool stand for the first time the other day. I love that customers have a choice of really unique flavors and the classic flavors. They also offer condensed milk as a topping which I thought was super cool. Their marshmallow is probably one of the best I've had because it does not clump together. They also aren't stingy with it. Their speciality snowballs come with cool toppings which I really love. I ordered the Watermelon, Basil and Lime which came with watermelon on the top along with some basil and a lime wedge. My friend ordered the s'mores (I'm sure you can guess what comes on that! Lol). I also came back a couple days later and ordered the peaches and cream! The only negatives I would say is that my friend found a big chunk of shaved ice in hers, and they lack when it comes to the syrups. If you like yours with a lot of juice, I would tell them extra. Also, the first day the girls didn't have the best service and the second day it was okay, but we all have our days so I def understand! I will be coming back often! read more

What a cute and fun snowball stand.  It's cash only, just an FYI. There's flavors and combos that I've never seen or heard of before.  Because Creme Brulee is one of my favorite desserts I just had to try it in snowball form.  I liked it but didn't love it.  My first 2 scoops made me so happy.  It really tastes like Creme Brulee in a snowball.  Towards the middle and  most certainly towards the end it didn't taste like a Creme Brulee at all.  It tasted more like sweet, condensed milk.  The creme brulee flavor was only at the top.  I plan to go back and try many others because I just LOVE snowballs and I love the many different options Quality Snowballs have. read more

On the traditional start of summer any good Baltimorean knows that it starts with a snowball and stands are popping out of the wood work. This particular stand is right across the street from the Food Market in the quaint neighborhood of Hampden. It is a tiny box which holds a multitude of creative ingredients and two hardworking employees who do not seem to be intimidated by the long line that flushes around the corner. There are a multitude of flavors and the line may either be a blessing to help you decide or a cure in that you keep changing your mind. Personally, I am a cherry fan and this is one of the best cherry snowballs in town, but in the future, I am willing to try other flavors. I had a medium and it took me a while to finish, so start with the small. My take, get it on a hot day or a cool evening after dinner at a popular Hampden eatery. read more

My fiancé and I decided to try this popular snowball place on a Sunday evening to see if it really was as good as people said it was. My favorite snow ball flavor is egg custard. I tried it with marshmallows first time! Total game changer. My fiancé got the same thing but with toasted marshmallows. The only thing I didn't like about this place was that they are cash only. It's 2019 and rare that people have cash. Thank goodness it's a ATM machine next door. The line was pretty long but moved rather quickly. Overall, the customer service was okay and the snowball was delicious. I would definitely go back. I highly recommend bring cash and checking prices beforehand to ensure you can complete your transactions. read more

When I first moved to Maryland, I was like, "What the heck is a snowball??" Then I thought it funny when I realized they are snow cones. But are they? I've had a few "snowballs" here and there but QualitySnowBalls is the first snowball I've had that made me think twice. They put a layer of ice cream or marshmallow fluff in the middle (which other places do too) and it was so delicious! I think it's the quality of the ingredients. I got a raspberry snowball with a layer of vanilla ice cream. It was so good. They had so many flavor combos and you can add fruit and fun toppings. Will make a point of stopping by everytime I'm in the area. So worth it especially on a hot day! read more

Just across from the food market on the avenue, quality snowballs is a small shopping container serving up snowballs with large personalities. They offer the classic flavors and also have a menu of specialty snowballs that are really amazing. This isn't your classic, standard, syrupy stand. The flavors are really refined with options such as luxardo cherry and condensed milk (together) to cantaloupe jalapeño and rosemary lemon cream. I had the grapefruit basil creamsicle and it was light and rich with fresh basil. My fiancé had the root beer float which comes with ice cream and cream and he loved it. I'll definitely be back all summer to try all of the flavors. Go before the lines are too long! read more

My favorite place to get snowballs! I especially love how much marshmallow they give you, it's enough to have marshmallow in every bite which is pretty essential for me. I'm more of a fan of the classic style snowballs, which are listed on the left side of the menu. But I also enjoy getting a specialty snowball from time to time and the s'mores is my favorite out of those. read more

My sister has been raving about this place so on a scorching hot Sunday afternoon, we walked about 30 mins outside for some snowballs..(?). It kind of blew my mind when I saw a small stall where people were lining up. Maintaining social distance, we got to order after waiting for about 20 minutes. The overwhelming sense of how many flavors you could choose for was the initial conundrum.. and then you can have a choice of sour, double syrup etc. I had the peach and cream which wasn't bad but I think my sisters husbands key lime pie flavor was the best! It had key lime snow cone syrup, cream on top then crumbs of Cookie... it was sooo good. The only thing that I would have added was some 'sour' flavor to the key lime flavor. It would have been just so perfect then! I don't feel like walking all the way in this summer heat to get it though it doesn't sound like a bad idea but if you're in the area, do check it out!! read more

These snowballs are expensive and watery. I wish they would do something to give them some flavor. Disappointed!

i had my first snowball ever.. and I was blown away. i am not a particular fan of syrup covered ice because it feels like drinking sugar (the health nut in me would go crazy if i did this). but, a snowball just works. it's delicious but not overly sweet. and, who knew cream could go so well with ice! i had the PEACHES AND CREAM and it was perfect. don't count the calories. insider's tip, grab your snowball and go sit on the grass by the nearby St. Luke's Church. read more

Work let out early and since it was such a beautiful day, I decided to stop by for a small treat. I knew I wanted condensed milk with it, but wasn't sure what flavor to go with. The kind gentleman behind the counter suggested Egg Custard. Now I've never had an egg custard before so I figured why not give it a-go. Was planning on classic but for $0.25 more, I upgraded for the Egg Custard Cream. (Again a smart suggestion from the sir) It was delicious-let me tell you! Highly recommend stopping by Quality for a snowball if you're looking for a solid dessert- you will not be disappointed. read more
