Then they tried to disassemble the tub drain, also without success. At that point, they told me the only way forward would be to demo the foundation of my home to remove the drain entirely and locate the blockage. I said I'd need to speak with my wife and would call them back with a decision. Later that evening, I used a basic drain cable myself and successfully cleared the blockage -- a gross hair clog. I called to let them know and was offered a credit for half an hour of labor. I had paid for 1.5 hours of labor for the unsuccessful visit. I reluctantly accepted the half-hour credit and decided to use it to have them come out and cap off an unused water softener system. They came out and did the work (under 30 minutes), but after they left, I discovered they had cut off my home's hot water -- the water softener was connected to the water heater, which they didn't account for. I called them back out, and they corrected the issue on a second visit, but told me this was my fault and charged me again for one hour of labor plus additional parts. In the end: * They failed to clear my drain, which I fixed myself. * They caused another problem while doing the "makeup" job. * Then charged me again to fix the mistake they caused. * I ended up with more inconvenience and more costs -- not less -- for a problem they never resolved in the first place.

I had several companies come out to estimate the project, and Raul gave me an extremely competitive estimate on what needed to be done and the approximate cost. Of everyone who saw the project, he was the only one who quoted me for the most comprehensive long-term solution at an extremely reasonable cost, and demonstrated thorough experience of what I should expect. We began the project right away. This was a 4 day job. It's an old house with the sewer line that was partially encased in very thick 12" slab of ultra-high psi concrete (poured in the 50s). Raul and Armani showed up day 1 with several trucks, a huge crew, and got to work immediately with jackhammers, a backhoe, new ABS sewer piping, and pipe liner hardware. They put up tarps to protect against dust, and went right to work. One of my concerns was that they had to dig in my garden as it was sitting right on top of my sewer cleanout... which has a bird of paradise that has been growing there for at least a decade. They actually managed to remove the plants, do all the work they needed to do, and replant them without over-stressing the plants... and it looks like the plants are doing great. Hardly even looks like they dug such a large hole in that area. As for the rest of the job, we ended up having to make a few audibles along the way because it was such a challenging dig - through no fault of their own of course, it's just an old house and there will always be surprises along the way - but Raul and Armani promptly came up with solutions that were not only the *right way* to do it, but also respected my budget. At the end, they hauled away all old debris and cleaned things up like they were never there. I'm extremely happy with the work. There was no way around this being an expensive project, that's just the nature of a total sewer replacement under such thick concrete, but because of their professionalism I truly felt heard, respected, and valued. And now my sewer should be good for another 70 years. I would recommend Raul and Armani and their Doctor Rooter organization to anyone who wants their sewer work done correctly and within budget. I highly recommend them.

I called them late Tuesday night, and Chris returned my call shortly after, and let me know someone would come over the next morning... they came over early the next morning to fix, but by that time (unknown to me), the clog had mysteriously fixed itself?? They did spend a good 20min or so making absolutely sure that the clog no longer existed. I received a bill the next day for $140.... this is reasonable, since they did put in the time to come out and visit me, and diagnose the problem. However, I believe that a 5 star rating would be appropriate if they gave me a discounted (or even free) service given that the problem did not exist any more, and I am a frequent/ loyal customer (I actually had them over to fix this very same problem back in March), and have sent a referral there way. $140 seems a little steep for 20min work (I have been exclusively dealing with Chris plumbing for over a year now, so that may in fact be the market rate). That said, I am still very happy with them - just changing my rating to a "great" 4 star rather than "spectacular" 5 star.
